Tbh, it wasn’t really aimed at you in particular, just a response to the points you raised and how if you’re sat at different ends of the stadium how contrasting the experience is. Maybe just a flaw in (until recently) new stadium design, although the ones that have gone up recently like Spurs and, particularly Everton, they done a lot of work to enhance noise and atmosphere.

I think this just goes to show how bad the acoustics are inside St Mary's. If you were sat in or near the Northam you would probably say the complete opposite. The noise just doesn't carry around the stadium well. There's no doubt the atmosphere dipped significantly once they went ahead, there was certainly a collective "here we go again" vibe taking grip. That was also really the first time you could hear the Wrexham fans, understandably they were very excited to be ahead (and temporarily, top of the league) and continue to be so for the next 70 minutes. If you're in the Chapel of course you're getting it full on from the aways right next to you but rather than have a pop at the Northam who are the just about only ones producing any noise from the home fans, make your own noise and maybe encourage a few more around you to get involved.

The Northam was decent but (as a famous Taff once said, it’s not unusual) the rest of the ground only woke up once we equalised. OK at the start but as you’d expect, once they went ahead it lifted them and knocked ours back. They’ve had a right pop at our support on their forum, they were getting nothing from the fans either side of them and tbf it looked pretty much dead down there from the Northam. Edit: "Humpty Dumpty giving it large" 😃

I might let out a little chuckle if a big club come in and gazumps the scallies. Everton, know your place

Reasonable level for the lad to move onto and nice payday. They’re a decent stepping stone club to get him a move to one of the big boys fairly quickly. And then another fat paycheque for us with a hefty sell-on when he does.

Ticket releases for August and Portsmouth games?
TheAlehouseBrawlers replied to Ekimr's topic in The Saints
Good points. I guess the number meeting the current criteria to buy tickets for this may have hit a ceiling for those eligible. Don't know when the next window of opportunity opens? Next sales window now open: https://www.southamptonfc.com/en/news/article/portsmouth-h-ticket-update Yeah not expecting to sell them all out, Sheff Utd only give the lower tier for league games but still 3,000 and can't see us taking that many midweek in between two other northern games days apart. I think Hull and Derby offer around 2,500 which is more likely being Saturdays. The last time we played Hull a couple of years back we took 2,000 and 3 days later took a similar number to Preston midweek which was also live on Sky. And I remember good numbers travelling north back in the League One days. -

I don’t know if it’s particularly an acid test as it’s a demanding period of away games around then. 10 days after Hull we’re away to Sheff Utd midweek and 3 days later back up to Derby. That’s a lot of miles and time on the road over a couple of weeks so understandable if fans will be a bit more selective on away games. If we’re seeing sell-outs (or near enough) for those then that will speak volumes of our travelling support. A workmate booked tickets for the skates yesterday and said there was still over 1500 tickets left (again half of them in the blocks either side of the aways). A bit surprising. -

I'd imagine you've seen this but most give it as near Bishop's Waltham as the source of the (previously named) Hamele https://www.hantsfieldclub.org.uk/publications/hampshirestudies/digital/1900s/Vol_6/Trinder_pt3.pdf "The river has its origin above Bishop's Waltham in the junction of various brooks*" (*ahem...assume not cup-tied!) Edit: I knew this fella a few years back (decent footballer, Saints fan and I'm pretty sure he played for Southampton Boys back in the seventies), he's a river-keeper and walked the Test from source to Southampton Water https://www.hiwwt.org.uk/blog/guest-blogger/tales-riverbank-donnys-test-character A good watch on YouTube

Ticket releases for August and Portsmouth games?
TheAlehouseBrawlers replied to Ekimr's topic in The Saints
Yeah will be interesting to hear what they’re paying. Should be at least £40 if matching equivalent seats in the Kingsland North (Itchen North £45) unless both clubs have agreed to a reciprocal price for both games. If you want to sit/stand alongside the skates in the Kingsland it’s £55 and will probably be the last tickets to go. -

Northam quickly sold out for skates, blocks either side of aways around half sold when I looked earlier -
Ticket releases for August and Portsmouth games?
TheAlehouseBrawlers replied to Ekimr's topic in The Saints
It's a bit strange, it's said sold out/tickets unavailable a few times now over the last few days but a while later a number of tickets again become available. I've got tickets but I've kept an eye on it as it weirdly kept changing. Earlier there were rows of four or five seats together in various blocks which may suggest they were staff seats put up for sale. I haven't seen any mention of the Ticket Exchange being in operation which usually happens after it's sold-out. So if you're still after tickets but keep getting 'not available' maybe worth to keep checking back. Edit: Still happening, earlier a few seats in 3 different blocks but all sold and now 4 seats have popped up in different blocks again. Maybe a glitch in the system. -
Had a look on a fans forum and the club and supporters are expecting big things from him, they've slapped a 60m Euros release clause on his 4-year contract... Highlights his greatest moment in football as the 23/24 Play-Off final. https://www.fcporto.ws/forum/threads/jan-bednarek.27161/ Good luck to him, what a great club to sign for at this stage of his career.

Could that be because Ajax are traditionally a Jewish football club and with Putin’s ties with Iran, his antisemitic outbursts and attacks on Ukraine (isn’t Zelenskyy Jewish?), they’re making a stand?

Ticket releases for August and Portsmouth games?
TheAlehouseBrawlers replied to Ekimr's topic in The Saints
When I had a browse on the UI late last week ‘Salisbury Saint’ (who’s pretty reliable) said there was only 300 tickets left, so must getting low by now. Also had a peep on the Wrexham forum earlier, they’re understandably miffed as Saints tickets still not on sale to them yet, their club dragging their feet. Some seem to think they’ll be getting 3,300 tickets for some strange reason as the away corner only holds 3k. And it wouldn’t surprise me if the club added segregation netting either side of aways this season and restrict allocations to around 2,800. Hope so anyway. -

They usually do, won't have long to find out as there's only one £50 seat left in the KIngsland holding it up! Edit: This sold out at the weekend, I can't see any mention of the 'Ticket Exchange' on the OS but about a hundred seats have become available again (around 20 in the Northam) -
Ticket releases for August and Portsmouth games?
TheAlehouseBrawlers replied to Ekimr's topic in The Saints
They better get a move on then as there's only a few handfuls left...and hope they've all got a previous purchasing history with SFC to buy one. As for away allocations, I can't see the skates getting any more than 2k as they'll need to be extra segregation netting either side along with the practicalities of bussing in any more than that in the bubble. We'll likely be restricted to 1,500-1,800 down there. Police probably have the final say. Everyone else will have to be offered the 3k (if required) as it looks like the away corner at St Mary's can't be segregated, it's that or write off what an extra thousand seats in revenue brings. -

Only around 200 tickets left for Wrexham, nearly all of them in Block 20 next to the away fans. Should sell out tomorrow and see the ticket exchange open. -

TheAlehouseBrawlers replied to Ekimr's topic in The Saints
I agree with what you're saying, but how do you bite back when clubs are blatantly taking the piss? Plenty of Ipswich fans have had a pop at their club over those prices, it's ridiculous, particularly at this level. I believe there is dialogue on capping away ticket prices outside of the PL but it never happened in time for this season, probably next year. The reluctance for clubs to get involved just proves their greed and total disregard for even their own match-going fans with the expense of following that team around country. I just can't really understand why effort wasn't made before to arrange reciprocal pricing/allocation with other clubs. We got rinsed a few times recently in the Championship. -

TheAlehouseBrawlers replied to Ekimr's topic in The Saints
But the majority of home fans in there are season ticket holders/members so won't be paying anything like the price they're ripping off Saints fans for. SFC need to get a bit more creative with away fans pricing, if we get ripped off then they have to reciprocate. Make the equivalent KIngsland (North) blocks £45-50 for general admission the reverse fixture but do a cut-price offer for that game for members, cheapest adult tickets in the stadium. Then we're just charging them the same as what we would be charging our non-members but the seats would likely quickly get snapped up when they go on sale to members. I would imagine we'll have a larger number of U23s (£23/£24) and U19s (£13/£14) at Portman Road. -

TheAlehouseBrawlers replied to Ekimr's topic in The Saints
Don’t clubs have to charge away fans the same as home fans in equivalent parts of a stand? So we get 2,000 tickets at £43, we’ll give them 3,000 (as we can’t segregate that area or leave a thousand seats empty) at £30-35. *title of this thread is hurting my eyes, can the mods remove the unnecessary mention of the skates?
