The 1984 season when we finished 2nd to Liverpool our average home crowd was about 18,000. Think this was when the Dell could accommodate 24,000.

Hi Chrisophe, Is Derrick Abu featuring in your first team ? If so , is he performing well?
-
He is a terrible Pundit. I can't believe Sky can't find someone more articulate and insightful.
-
Sounds like we need a 1980s style warrior at the back. Preferably called Keith or Derek. He must have a moustache and like steak n chips with lager Not one of those gaylords we currently have. A REAL MAN.
-
Nope fair do's your right , I have said this with the benefit of hindsight. Just think a cheapish deadline day target man style player could help us out. More importantly you've just made think of a Chicken Balti pie from the concourse....mmm..lovely.
-
Just see as a fairly cheap ( to sign) option . Not necessarily a player you are going to rely on every game. He cost a quarter of what we paid for Downs. I appreciate he's not exactly prolific but he was a regular starter/coming off the bench player for Sheff Utd last season who got 92 points.
-
Loved us to have signed Keiffer Moore , 4 goals in 5 games so far. What's wrong with having a player like this for a couple of years . It's not like he would be our only option He cost Wrexham 2m .
-
Fair enough, maybe he's a spent force then. It's just been one of those days today .... like a great clothes shopping day where you've got yourself some jeans that fit perfectly, two new shirts and a winter coat all for under 150 quid , and on the way to the till you take a punt on the skinny fit t-shirts that are a 10er a pop..
-
I think he'd be worth a punt. 1 season deal .
-
Last season in 2. Bundesliga. His stats were. 32 games. 3 goals. 9 assists. A number 8 to compete with Charles and Downes. To replace Smallbone and Aribo ( If they depart).
-
Bazunu was good in the first two league games and personally I didn't think he could have done much about the Stoke goals. It feels like certain fans are waiting to pounce and analyse every goal against him to prove their opinion on him is the right one. I still think he has a way to go to convince me he's good enough but as McCarthy showed last night and in the playoffs he's a decent understudy. Teams are successful when you have a goal threat and creativity imo. That should be the clubs focus. You can get away with mediocrity at the back as proven in the 19/20 season . McCarthy in goal , Bedders and Stephens as our main CBs and we somehow won 7 of our last 9 Premier league games and finished 11th in the table...reason...Danny Ings Last season the same CBs as 19/20 but a much better keeper than McCarthy in Ramsdale but no goal threat....12 poxy points.
-
Would rather have played Smallbone in that midfield three yesterday than Charles.
-
So frustrating that many of us fans identified Johansson as a top keeper ..a match winner when he was at Rotherham and we could gone and got him 2 or 3m. Nope not our recruitment team..oh no..they're way too cleverer than that. He won it for them today. An incredible save from Taylor at nil nil then the bowl out to assist the 2nd and bang.. killed the game.
-
Nicely summed up Jack. Adding to this I thought our midfield 3 were all really poor today....considering we all thought the 3 musketeers were going to tear it up in the Championship.
-
Are Stills hands tied regarding Stephens and Bazunu ?
Oh no Mick Mills replied to Andrew Watson's topic in The Saints
Probably....it's a human thing -
Yeah she is. Kelly's from Millbrook. He met her in the Bricklayers during the Sunday meat draw.
-
Exactly, I feel the same way. The decision making by Sports Republic has been mainly disastrous since they took over and it's easy to believe they'll continue to keep getting things wrong. Personally I reckon we'll be in one of the playoff spots. We've still got the bulk of the previous Championship squad from last time round and during that season we looked a cut above most teams. Ipswich are the runaway class act in this division and Brum have the positive momentum to go back to back promotions in my opinion. I'll keep looking on here hoping to see we're going to make that couple of top class signings that could make all the difference.
-
Virtually every YouTube podcast predicting the Championship table this coming season have us finishing 2nd.
-
We also got more points per game last time in the Championship when he played. Unfortunately this sort of thing gets ignored because it doesn't fit the anti Stephens narrative. Mediocre player yes. But no worse when he played in the Prem than Bedders or THB.
-
THB and Bednarek were both superb last time round in the Championship . We conceded so many due to a weak left back in Manning. Baz in goal. Martins possession at all cost tactics. No decent options at CDM when Flynn was sick.
-
Totally agree with this assessment.

Whilst off last week I watched the full 70 mins he played in Koln v Kaiserslautern on YouTube. Koln won 4 nil. He didn't score but had a decent assist for the 2nd goal. Apart from that and a couple of passes/layoffs he did very little else. On two occasions his first time passes went straight to the opponents and one was a perfect through ball that Kaiserslautern should have scored. Not going to pass judgement on him based on one game but from that first impression I was rather underwhelmed. More Mara than Che Adams going by that game.
-
Didn't Frannie get sent off a few times for dumbass reasons? Strange how two limited but committed players to Saints can be seen so differently through the lense of time.
-
Pleased to hear this. A decent player for this level .
-
To add further to my pro Edozie stance. Similar to Smallbone they both showed enough quality in enough games to convince me they can do a decent job for us at Championship level. Are they nailed on, first name on the teamsheet type players...of course not . I'm assuming we want a squad of players , not just a first 11 and imo these two would do a good job for us as they both proved in the 23/24.
