  1. Yes, believe it or not, we have not completely eradicated crime, death and injury in this country. Wow, who knew. Regarding your continued straw man about how we have "given up" our liberty... apart from us all thinking it's a pretty darn good thing not to have lethal ranged weapons in the hands of every member of the public who might want one (or five), what other rights do you think we have forfeited?
  2. Probably a scam to get an insurance company pay out.
  3. Oh yes, sorry - think I must have just read as far as "has been called up".
  4. By strange coincidence, their third choice keeper appears to be Rob Elliott, who is also playing for RoI tonight due to Given being injured.
  5. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-34485358 Wow. And this guy is currently polling 2nd for the Republican candidacy.
  6. Only managed to kill 1, so it doesn't count. Just a routine incident really.
  7. David does raise a good point. How much money would it take to go from "not interested" to "interested"? Ask for that much and see what happens.
  8. We're living in one of the wealthiest countries in the world... "where is the wealth?". Go take a look at the developing world for some perspective.
  9. His finest moment was confirming to Sven that we had qualified for the world cup with a draw against Greece.
  10. Yeah it's also complete bs that hinges on (1) the definition of a "violent crime" and (2) on the propensity to report the crime.
  11. 6-0 is our joint record away win, i think?
  12. A quick glance at Wikipedia ... Lineker's 48 goals scored in a 7 year period (and a month)... wow. And just look at the general quality of the opposition compared to the teams Rooney has scored against. In Rooney's defence, I think he is a more complete all-round player and capable of contributing more. Perhaps in another era, he'd have played in a deeper role much more regularly.
  13. Reminiscent of the double (or possibly triple) foul on Mane by Colback in the Newcastle game. Should have been multiple bookings for separate fouls.
  14. So where do you draw the line between personal responsibilities versus responsibilities to the society that you live in? You pay your taxes, so there are obviously some areas where you believe the state is better placed to make decisions and take action than you as an individual. What's your opinion on highway speed limits? For or against them? .
  15. Haha lol ... should have known it would be the BBC ... apologies for finger pointing!
  16. Who's this then: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/33590187 This summer was always more about evolution than revolution, with Nathaniel Clyne and Morgan Schneiderlin the only two to depart. The loan signing of Maarten Stekelenburg covers Fraser Forster’s injury, with Steven Caulker also given another shot at the top flight. Cedric Soares looks a promising replacement for Clyne, while the £5m signing of Oriol Romeu may be the club’s best bit of business this summer. The Spaniard has looked comfortable and commanding in his outings to-date. I expect no incomings at St. Mary’s today, while Sadio Mane and Victor Wanyama will both remain on the south coast. Connor Armstrong Southampton fan and writer So (1) ignoring Alderweireld's departure (yeah yeah I know he was never actually our player) and (2) not expecting any incomings today?? Is he living under a massive rock?
  17. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/14368474 Attendance: 4,464 of the absolute bestest. Challenge: can anyone find a lower competitive Fratton Park attendance since (let's say) 2010?
  18. Just when it looked like the thread was dead... up pops Saint George to finally answer the question of what is wrong with America.
  19. So they're right - basically we did have an 8k attendance for a league cup tie. Big deal...
  20. For, but IMHO need to be multiple checks and balances in place as there are potential pitfalls. Some thoughts... - should be opt-in only ... either at the time of decision making, or through a living will held with a suitable lawyer - should have to confirm the decision twice or maybe three times with suitable time-frame between - a specific list of conditions to which this choice can apply - may not be wholly necessary, but would serve as something of a safeguard - two (or more?) impartial doctors should agree that (1) the individual making the decision is of sound mind (or was of sound mind at the time of the living will) and (2) has a condition that is seriously impacting quality of life, and with negligible chance of improving and regaining that quality - regulation of the specific doctors that can make such assessment - i.e. not just any old GP, need to be suitably qualified on the condition in question - review of the overall decision making by doctors to weed out any statistically abnormal decisions
  21. How about... I'm stood on the surface of earth... moving around the sun at 67,000 mph. If i jump up, do i land in the same place? Velocity is a relative concept... something is only considered moving relative to something else (frame of reference). So as far as you versus the train, you have zero velocity (assuming train is not accelerating, which also means it is not going round a corner) Now consider that the "moving" train is stood still and the earth is moving (rotating) underneath its wheels...
  22. Congratulations to the plucky giant-killing minnows from league 2!
  23. Plans don't show that though... Tesco is the building to the left (is that the Fratton End?). The tens of millions of pounds is probably the main obstacle! Also, I don't think the architect has considered how the championship standard floodlights would be incorporated? Would be a bit of an oversight to not include the single biggest investment they've made in the place for the last decade.
