  1. Do you dispute the figures? You know that "death by cop" is such a rare event in the UK that every time it happens it makes the national news and there is a full investigation by the IPCC?
  2. Looking at it another way - if the new party leader was agreed 3-6 months before the general election, this would allow the incumbent PM to focus on "running the country" right up to the election date, whilst the new leader could focus entirely on the campaign. Might also provide an advantage as voters like to vote for change (i.e. hoping for better), and a new leader would give some illusion of change even if main party policies are not affected.
  3. Won't save you if the plane you're on hits the mountains.
  4. A billion times this. What about purchasing pharmaceuticals and other supplies from the private sector... does that count? Or should the NHS make everything it uses too? There is also a fairly significant difference between privatisation and outsourcing and I'm a bit surprised that they are being conflated in this manner.
  5. Leon is basically a more reasonably priced Golf anyway... for that matter so is a Skoda Octavia, which has the added benefit of a bigger boot than the other two.
  6. Yeah sure, because several hundred years of mature legal framework and case law are totally worthless unless you have some kind of quasi-religious 10 commandments style document as a start point.
  7. Yes - that's it! Was nagging me that i couldn't remember the second part of the phrase. I remember it roughly as "nine nine in, all prisoners released". Shirley first/middle.
  8. It's actually pretty laughable that the second amendment is so poorly written as to be ambiguous and still argued over today - to the extent that even the Supreme Court could barely agree on what it means (5-4 decision is hardly overwhelming). And yet the constitution is held up as some kind of magic perfect document, despite being over 200 years old, and to even consider changing it would be an affront to the American Way ™. Lunacy.
  9. The constitution is not some set of magic unchangeable rules that transcends the human existence. It was written by actual people with viewpoints and ideas. And it's been changed numerous times since it was first drafted. 27 times. And guess what - the right to bear arms was the second amendment. Which means it wasn't even in the original drafting. There's nothing that stops the constitution from being changed again. The argument of "it's in the constitution so it can never be changed" is plain dumb.

    Net migration

And don't forget that any productive workers coming to the country are also then consumers creating additional demand in the economy - directly and indirectly.

    Net migration

http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_population_density Long way to go to catch the Netherlands and Belgium. And we're not exactly staggeringly more populated than Germany.

    Net migration

On the flipside... our birth rate is below the replacement rate of 2 per woman (it's something like 1.9). So #1 - without net immigration, our population will actually start to decrease (depending on how life expectancy also changes) and #2 - the population will skew older and older, so we can all work longer as there will be nobody to work, and nobody to pay for the increased costs of pensions, healthcare etc
  13. Oi, what's wrong with having a GCSE in Economics?
  14. Is Chandlers Ford particularly awash with immigrants then, or is it just that as a reasonably pleasant suburb of a major city, coupled with recent major housing developments (e.g. Knightwood Park) it has experienced significant growth in that 10 year period? Or are you saying that the immigrants have pushed all the "natives" out of the city and in to the 'burbs?
  15. A real conspiracy theorist would point out that Britain First is exactly who UKIP does NOT want to be associated with, and that this association is rather conveniently smearing them in the run up to the general election. Maybe someone with good underground contacts and an open mind should check the dark web or whatever to see who has been funding Britain First...
  16. Ah yes because (1) content control by ISPs is exactly the same as state censorship and (2) exclusively something that occurs in the UK.
  17. We have Sky and that site works fine.
  18. and there's another harry kane one...
  19. Damn, just seen the other thread - there goes my scoop.
  20. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/30746470 "As well as all the latest breaking transfer news and views from BBC Sport pundits throughout the day and night, we will be getting updates from Fifa Interactive World Cup 2014 Grand Final competitor David Bytheway and Football Manager expert Alex Stewart." "Alex is 32 years old. He lives in London and is a Southampton fan." FM expert? Surely must post on here!
  21. And of course you are right. It was arranged and announced in December, but not officially completed until the window opened.
  22. Community led? Fan owned? Surely they should have been looking elsewhere for the model example of how to run a football club?
  23. Hmm, coincidence that this little warning happens the day after the Litvinenko inquiry starts throwing out quotes like "state sponsored nuclear terrorism"...
  24. FIFA should have had this properly nailed down for years but are obviously too busy worrying about politics. IMHO if a player withdraws from an international competition through injury they shouldn't be allowed to participate in domestic fixtures until the international tournament is over (or until their team is knocked out at any rate). Otherwise this kind of crap is just going to keep on happening with the "non-summer" continental tournaments.
