Rather sad, but I have done the stats. Based on our last 8 games of 17 points, and applying a linear projection of this current form we would get 78 points. To hit 74 points which should enough to secure 6th place we need 62 points from our remaining 31 games, exactly 2 points a game.

:smt046 Club bottom of Premier League, millions in debt, transfer embargo, disputed ownership. I know, first priority lets change the banking software. That will solve it. I smell something, ah yes it's BS

From memory a professional foul is classed as serious foul play and therefore a one game ban. Just like a double yellow. A straight red for Violent Conduct is 3 games.

I don't want them to go pop. I think if they go under it will be monumental, the only assets they have is their PL status and (possibly depending on who you believe) some old railway land. One of those will be gone by May. This is too funny. It is like the scene in Life of Brian when they all follow the new Messiah blindly. They have to be careful though with all these new owners, I was always told that 3 sheihks is a w***.

Agree, if ever there was a pair of ****s it would be Ince and Keane.
-
As nobody has mentioned it for a few posts, Ince is a c***.

Soweto will fill a 100k stadium, Pompey can't manage 20k. Also Soweto is safer.

Out of the frying pan, into the fire, back into the frying pan. Glad to see they are signalling their intentions on the transfer front pre-window. As a League One club even we would be hacked off if Cherno Samba was the limit of our ambition.

When Murty is back: a) No issue with James b) Should Papa be in front of him I don't think he'll be allowed to slacken off.

We normally play teams into form, have a sneaky feeling that we will keep this winning habit.

Using the form over the last 6 games gives us a projection of 79.5 points to finish the season on. At the start of the season,to hit the playoffs (based on the realistic 74 points) the run-rate as of game 13 would be 13.74 points. That puts us 5.74 points below the rate as it stands. In case you were wondering we would have to win the next five games to get ahead of the start of season required rate. Based on 74 points needed, less the eight we have, leaves 66 needed, divide that by the 33 remaining games and its a simple 2 points a game.

What an excellent brave decision, I hope he gets the reaction on here for it not ******* up :-)

2-1 up twenty minutes to go, 4-4-2. Brave. Can imagine the reaction on here if it fooks up from here!

Team? ---------------Kelv James -----Trottman ---Jaidi -------Harding -----------------Spiderman---------------- Papa----- Hammond------- Mellis---------- Lallana -------------------Lambert------------------- Subs Bart Thomas Mills Wotton Holmes Connoly Saga I think this is our strongest side (bar James at RB) but maybe Pardew will stick with Wotton in front of the defence and keep Schneiderlin in a more advanced role.

Good luck fella. I am sure the majority of Saints 'fans' will wish him well. Suspect the odd attention seeking troll will feel the need to have their say on here as per usual.

I have read your first post. To finish 6th you need to score at least as many points as the team that would have been 6th. Although I do understand where you are coming from, looking at what achieved 6th as opposed to what beat 7th is a far better guide. Also I put a projection into our current points based on last 6 games and it has us at 67 points. Happy to send the workbook to you if you PM me.

That is exactly what I have done. I'll go back and read your post.

Points Required to get 6th place: 08/09 - 76 07/08 - 76 06/07 - 75 05/06 - 71 04/05 - 71 74 points is the average, going to be a stretch to get there but nice to be looking up at long last!

Question for the OP, what points would normally secure an automatic promotion spot?
-
Based on 69 points with the 10 point deduction play-off pace would have us currently +10.6 points. It is my Duckworth Lewis method for the league. I would post the graph I have done but can't figure out how to. Given the start we had effectively just 2 wins behind that run-rate, our situation doesn't look so bad.
