  1. Thanks Trousers for the updates, I was at the game along with 681 other people and have to say I was impressed with the Farnboro set-up and team. I think they will do very well this season. Anyway, my impressions of our team - many of whom I have not seen before. Bart - Solid enough, one incident in 1st half he remained rooted to his line instead of coming to clear which he was lucky to get away with. Argent - Did ok but didn't do much attacking, horrendus challenge was a pre-season yellow, but would have been a league red Molyneux - Stands off to far, offers nothing in attack Lancashire - Slow Saville - Slower Pulis - Didn't do too much wrong, just didn't do anything particulary right Thompson - Only woke up after the goal, looks bright and industrious, brilliant vision and execution for his goal think Beckham vs Wimbledon. Morgan - Looked comfortable on the ball, good distribution and always thinking Gobern - Strong and pacey, can we turn him into a centre forward, can't help thinking he would have posed mor of a threat down the middle. Saga - Usually praised for his work rate but wasn't at the races tonight. Looked classy on the ball and one wicked shot that was just wide but I think the fat lady is gargling in preperation. White - One good header that looked a harsh offside, missed a sitter, worked hard. All in all the team just did not play. Fboro where the better side and certainly attacked harder. They had two players 9 and 19 who destroyed our centre backs and showed what a bit of pace can do. The penalty was harsh, to be fair our man had been tring to haul the striker down for the past 20 yards and the striker displayed Bear Grylls tenacity to make it half way into the box. The second goal our defence switched off, quick free kick, a pass, a cross and a goal. Agreed we played a reserve side tonight and added to Saturday's result I think it is fair to say we have a team to challenge for the league but not a squad.
  2. Very helpful, thank you. I am looking forward to similar advice and welcome from the Millwall Comms officer for our away trip there this year.
  3. I'll be going for my first game of the season.
  4. There is no Sky curse, we just lost a lot of games in last 5 years! I seem to recall Sky being a blessing to our perfomances in the 90's.
  5. At his peak £25-30m in todays money, although in reality someone would have prised him of us for cheaper. He was in the league of the 90's Premiership greats: Cantona, Shearer, Zola and Bergkamp etc.
  6. I hear Anthony Pulis might be looking for a game.
  7. If Stern is still playing for T&T he will miss a number of our matches as there are no international breaks in L1.
  8. They dish out those Ferero Rochet things at the reception I think.

    Leroy Lita

Which is code for, slow news day and his agent has just told SSN that that there is prem interest to up the wages at the CCC club about to sign him.
  10. Better than Bale???? I think Vignal is looking for a new club, HCDAJFU
  11. Is he the same idiot who sanctioned Rose Bowl with **** poor transport links?
  12. Always liked Prutton. Better than what we have.
  13. Pleased with Pardew's appointment. He is a class above in this league and if the reputation of being strong with players is true then I think it's what we need. Someone above posted the list of other L1 players, I'd be surprised if any of them had the same gravitas or contacts to bring in the loans and transfers we will need. I recall my reaction to the previous two appointments of JP and MW: Who? and Why?. When I read at the platform today that Pardew was the new boss I was pleasantly surprised, 8/10 for me.
  14. SSSSSSSSSStttttttttttttoooooooooooooooooooppppppppppppppppppp..... Our boysh will show them.
  15. try us.
  16. Apart from Redknapp not having resources. 3x England stikers, Finnish international keeper, Sweedish World Cup star + Henri Camera.
  17. I'll believe it when I see him a green shirt before I celebrate.
  18. So which would you release based on the assumption that we will retain a normal three? As it stands we have: Davis Poke Bart Forecast Personally I think Bart has failed to live up to some early promise so he'd be sold on IMHO. I haven't seen Poke or Forecast play so would value others opinions who have.
  19. I know it's wrong but I LOL'd
  20. But BWP only left today ;-)
  21. Both Saga and Rasiak are under contract, they both have 1 year left on their deals IIRC. The new owners probably are being prudent and seeing whether the new manager wants to retain then (ad maybe aquire Stern John) The difference between now and a week ago is we don't have to get shot of them at firesale prices.
  22. you might be right, check the colours.
  23. The skates will either be taken over or not. Even if they are they will be playing catchup all season as they won't be able to get their first choice manager or players in. Football is bankcrupt, both morally and financially. It is propped up by a few rich businessmen and benfactors. Any business that does not wash it's face will eventually go under or suffer a steady decline as Chelsea and Man City will find out. The likes of Arsenal and Man Utd are run as commercial operations (I note their debts) that return operating profits. Both Saints and Pompey have the support base to sustain a lower prem, upper CCC level club with Saints having the infrastructure to go a bit higher. We have a rich new owner but I would trade the rollercoaster to get back to stability and viability.
  24. It looks truly awful
