  1. My apologies. In which case that further solidifies the point that no-one is dismissing the income from Gate receipts at all.
  2. Well, this ties in nicely with another thread today I suppose!
  3. So league status has no effect on ticket pricing? The entire club's business model will be utterly dependent on how other aspects are going. You will not be able to justify £50 ticket prices if you are expected to lose every week or do not have the profile of the more famous clubs in the league.
  4. His speech would I imagine have a more general comment then simply his experiences of running Saints, but it would be good to hear his perspective.
  5. As a business your main source of income (in the case of Saints, it's now the Premier League TV money) will be the key area of focus. As such maintaining it will be the priority - The 'core,' the main, the most important priority. It's just common sense. The other sources of income will still be relevant but not take the same amount of importance. You are trying to make the argument too black and white, i've not at any point said that TV money is the be all and end all or that the gate receipts are irrelevant, the closest that we have seen to that is Whitley Grandad saying that they would be 'Irrelevant.' I've just pointed out that they will not be the absolute point of importance to the club that they would be to many fans.
  6. My point isn't that they do not matter, but they are not the be all and end all as far as the club is concerned. As I clearly stated:
  7. Troll someone who gives a f**k Turkish.
  8. Yep. Curse my traditional mindset!
  9. But not the core priority, premier league status and it's riches is the core priority. As such if the ticket income can be kept stable then so be it. As I said an attendance drop could be offset by a price increase. No, the fans wouldn't be happy but it would maximise the revenue, especially if the team did well then people would be crawling over themselves to fill in the spare capacity. Does anyone know what kind of advertising revenue the club brings in?
  10. In the Premier League at least. Assume we sell 30,000 tickets at 35 pounds each per game (league only). That's approx £20,000,000 pounds, not a small amount of money but dwarfed by the TV income per season. Even at £50 per ticket you will see an annual figure of £28.5 mil. TV income this year is, what? £70-90 million? So all in ticket income accounts for less then 20% of income before tax. Merchandising sales are also minimal, 10,000 shirt sales with a profit of £40 on each = £400,000. A very small percentage. As we are close to stadium capacity (if not reaching it) even with the team doing well then I would expect prices to keep rising, the worst that can happen for the club's accountants is that the price increase would offset any attendance dip. It is nice to get fans through the door but it is not the core revenue and therefore not the core priority.
  11. Oh f**k me! I do miss Saturday 3pm's.....
  12. Let's see how we do with Fulham as a 3pm Saturday kick off before we make any judgements.
  13. norwaysaint. It's my opinion that no game alone is worth buying a system for but GTA 5 is probably the best game of this console generation. I would use it as an excuse to exercise the now affordable back catalogue on the PS3 if you do get one as there is a world of experiences out there. The Mass Effect Trilogy is my favourite series on the current gen consoles giving hundreds of hours of play and costs about £40 for three games. If you really do have the time to kill and funds, go for it.
  14. You obviously need to up your game Bear.
  15. What's that coming over the hill..? It's Pochettino.... it's Pochettino!!
  16. As things stand, I will go out on a limb and say that we do not just have a better midfield, we have a better 'team.' We do not have as much talent in our players/squad though. If Manchester United click they will beat us.
  17. I was under the impression it was against the ticket T's and C's to sell them onto someone else.
  18. Southampton worse then Coventry, or Nuneaton, or Stoke on Trent, or god forbid Grimsby!? The crap town books are funny in their way but this is just incorrect!
  19. Number two in the F365 list of struggling strikers. http://www.football365.com/topical-top-10/8962338/Top-Ten I'm guessing they are working purely on stats then what he actually brings as a forward/holding player.
  20. How about a Crap forward line? Curtis (George) Rawlings (Bill) Andrews (Len) Pahars (Marians)
  21. Quashie for Q Zoltan Liptak for Z
  22. Except of course when he did. They say football is a game of opinions. I couldn't disagree more.
  23. Not prolific yet, no. His goal against Palace was well taken though and he was fingertips away from getting one at Anfield, he is posing a definite threat. After we took the lead Swansea took the game to us as you would expect from them. We attacked with conviction and generated several chances of our own before that and the interplay between Lallana, Lambert and Osvaldo were utterly key to it. Could, indeed perhaps should have been 2 or even three up by that point. Osvaldo's mobility, strength, close control, intelligence and team ethic have been extremely heartening, he is a class act.
  24. Following on from 9 players pulling out of the Welsh team for the final qualifiers our Lloyd has been called in. Good luck to him.
  25. As I said earlier, thought it was extremely telling that we were massively on the back foot as soon as Osvaldo picked up his knock at the start of the second half. Like Rickie he is more then just a goalscorer, his tracking back and link up play was superb.
