It's lack of dividend shows it to be a shortsighted and complacent approach. We need to think outside of the box, even our current manager admits the choice is too limited yet he still doesn't look outside.

What a goal from Chamberlain!!!!!!

Surely you would just have to declare everything on a tax return and be taxed for annual wages of the total amount?
-
Incidentally, 1-0 Brazil and AOC on for Glen Johnson.
-
Not Tabb, another lad at Coventry though... a centre back who had a brother at Wolves... can't remember his name though.....

This is a key point... Yes, it will be tricky to get players not that used to each other gelling as a team in a different tactic. The sign of a great international manager is one that can overcome this and get a team to buy into his system and with his team-mates quickly. Many other international sides mix a more diverse selection of players, those who play in different nations to each other, from different backgrounds and philosophies and achieve a blend far more successfully then the usual suspects from the Premier League European qualifiers. Our insistence on picking from this group is lazy and a sign of the technical shortcomings of our coaches, not just the players.

Very promising there from England, but no final ball..... again. Poor touch from Theo let it break down.
-
It is one hell of an indicator of what you should be doing though.

Surely it can't be long until Clyne is called up. Oh, wait, I'm still assuming players are picked due to form.... silly me.

Brazil looking good in possession around the England area, Hulk nearly scorer with a cheeky back-heel and a ball across the box was spurned thanks to the efforts of Glen Johnson... Joe Hart has done well on a few occasions but we are having a few chances on the counter attack. Walcott had a golden chance and a better final ball would yield us a few more. It's all to play for.

Rising to I believe, an initial £7.5 mill was paid.
-
Based on the rest of the market, £7 million for Rodriguez was fine, especially when you consider the fees of £7.5 mill for Matt Jarvis, £5 million for Danny Graham and £12 million for Stephen Fletcher. Young domestic talent commands silly money, at least Rodriguez has shown flashes of genuine class with his movement, ability on the ball and finishing. As others in the thread have said it will be crucial to see whether he can get some consistency... should it come the £7 million will be a bargain.

They say that football is a game of opinions. You are entitled to yours regardless of how twisted/wrong it is. Loving the double negative though.

Conveniently no.

No offence taken. I don't have as much time as I used to... but i'm certainly something of a fanatic.

That's how it worked for me last year, was a breeze.

Which channel is this on?

Some interesting names on that list: John Cofie (Very Green Mile....) Thierry Racon, Linked with us back in the League 1 days Scott Arfield, Missed a sitter that would have made it 0-2 against Huddersfield... we went on to win 4-1. Jerome Thomas Stephen O'Halloran (Remember him?) Ricardo Fuller Brian Howard Mathieu Mansett, Saw him play a few times for Hereford, simply couldn't understand why Reading bought him. Neal Trotman Charlie Sheringham, not following in his father's footsteps. Darren Purse Jody Morris Luis Boa Morte Mido Darius Vassell

Has shown potential. Hope he can bring in some consistency next season. His 7 million fee looks about right in hindsight.

Eric Abidal is being released by Barcelona. Has had serious health issues and not the youngest but still a harsh move by Barca. HCDAJFU!

I see what you mean about NY Red Bulls and it's franchise origin, it was however a rebrand of the NY Metrostars who were originally known as Empire Soccer Club, but yes in America this kind of thing is more accepted. Red Bull also did a rebrand of small german side SSV Makranstadt to form RB Leipzig.... although owing to German rules regarding company branding in sport the RB stands for "Rasen Ballsport" or "Pitch Ball Sporting" Leipzig.... very clumsy.... what on earth could they do to get around that here?
-
No. Given the globalisation of the modern game, the profile of the premier league and the behaviour of companies such as Red Bull in other european and international leagues it's far from pointless. This will be happening in the English game at some point, of that I have no doubt. Considering what would happen from our perspective should it happen is worthy of discussion for me... especially as it's the off season and I need something to distract me from reality. .

Prompted by rumours of Red Bull sponsorship I have been considering the possible implications of the involvement of the drinks company. They seem to have a philosophy of taking over the football clubs they sponsor, Red Bull Salzburg and the NY Red Bulls being the most prominent examples, in the process the stadium, kit and identity of the club gets essentially wiped out to make way for the White and Red trappings of the drinks empire. Would this be possible here, or do English league regulations make it impossible for a team to have corporate naming along the lines of 'Red Bull Southampton,' or to a lesser example Total Network Solutions? Could that be a saving grace? Under what circumstance, if any, would this be acceptable? Could you still support Saints should similar happen to us? For me, I see it as not quite a franchise fc scenario if the club stays in Southampton and plays in White/Red. Attempts to brand the team as the 'Red Bulls' would be initially futile as we would still hold on to our 'Saints' identity but I would understand why a breakaway club would be desired by many. The club would still be a direct continuation of Southampton, playing within the city and therefore I would still support it.

If this has any credibility at all. Would be sorry to see him go. Like the way we play under him, just needs a little strengthening to really take off for me. Cortese.... time to show your ambition lad...

Interesting. I'm 29.
