It really did. I was at my then-girlfriends place watching top of the pops and nearly spat my beer at the TV when I saw it had got to #17 or something.

Well, we did have that really quite bad 'Southampton Boys' song back in 2003. That made the Singles Top 20.

This is how coaching in this country is flawed. You need to instill a winning mentality but there is too much focus on winning at all costs. Pick the big kids and the quick kids, ignore the skillfull luxuries. They are kids... this is about teaching skills and keeping it fun. Do not set specific positions at this age just teach the basic skills. Keep the team rotated and when they get to 12 they should then start to become specialised. But even then keep training mixed up. Too many clubs go for muscle, fitness and power and discard the smaller kids. If you want to really go for the skills buy yourself a book teaching 'Coever' coaching methods (the dutch system) it thinks outside of the box but is inspired.

Surely he has paid his debt to society already, there's no need to subject him to here.

I've run a team since I was 20. They were u11's then and now they are beginning youth level. I'll echo the advice to do the FA level 1, a lot of it is common sense but it does give a lot of good tips for session layout and some training drills. Aim to recruit a few of the more enthusiastic parents as assistants, aim for no more then 8 kids per adult. You do need to be resilient and eassertive though, some parents can be arseholes and will think they should be the manager, often contradicting instructions you give if they feel it's best for their little treasure. Stay clear in your aims and beliefs regarding how the team should play and they soon back off, Hufton and RPB are bang on in their advice. Be strong, plan things well and stand your ground. I wish you luck, it can be thankless but when you see your team play that one moment of beautiful, unstoppable football... it's the best feeling in the world.

Ronnie Johnsen (sp?) played for us against Chievo Verona in a friendly before the 04/05 season. Lets face it, he couldn't have done a worse job then Andreas Jakobsen. -

I swear we were linked with Julio Arca too. -

That Beattie to Newcastle one seemed to last for years. A uni coursemate used to taunt me with it and was sick when he went to Everton... as was I. We always used to be linked to Jason Euell too.... and then it happened. -
Ah, you would hate 'The Agonist' then. A band with a front woman who can do the conventional and growling parts.
-
At this link. http://www.rockmetalmagazine.com/metalqueen/ Quite a few bands in there I was unfamiliar with but now am starting to listen to for the first time thanks to youtube. Incidentally, I voted for Simone Simons. But Tarja Turunen and Cristina Scabbia where only just behind.

Just taken in a 4 month old female kitten with dark brown and auburn speckled colouring. She needs a name, be as 'sensible' as you wish with your suggestions....

Do you think the people that like the sash are wanting to get rid of the stripes for good?
-
It would just be another red and white shirt, and there are only so many variations of that you can do. This shirt is a unique one off based on the most initial part of our history. I find the change extremely refreshing. I will welcome back the conventional strip next season, but right now, the change is good for me.

Always sad when a fan passes away, it sounds like he had a fantastic innings though, full respect to the guy. Hope he finds heaven. And yeah, training with the players?

Some people just need a daft and fundamentally pointless lone crusade to make them feel big. Just look at StueyBensonPhillips.

I saw them sold at the Chapel Arms, but which one Dad got it from, I couldn't tell you.
