There was not enough money comming through the door from TV money and Match Day income to come anywhere near the wage bill. 80 million in sales is not the net figure though, you will have also spent money to bring these guys in to start with. Out of interest, what wages are your squad on right now (and what money were your prior stars being paid?), it'll be easy to do at the least a rough calculation to see where most of the money heamorraged too.
