  1. Would be wonderful if true, but I can't see it happening, just makes too much sense.
  2. I doubt it will be just us who are starting to plummet in terms of value. Any club on the stock exchange who are not owned by a benefactor will now be feeling severe pressure.
  3. Fair play for him doing it for a charity. Can't act to save his life though!
  4. Ricardo Fuller in our first year in the Championship. Brett Ormerod for doing all the running to create space for Beattie to work his 'thing.'
  5. It would take a very long time. Just get a Taxi. I've walked from the Ricoh to the City centre in an hour 20 minutes before.
  6. Don't call them Spanish!!!! Dear christ don't do that! :smt076
  7. He's surely not involved with that lot is he!? How is he getting away with it?
  8. Cooooo, that took me apart! I would suggest that Heathrow is not the best choice. Expanding Biggin Hill on the other hand, much better.
  9. Oh come on, it is sometimes funny to try and get his responses.
  10. My cat does not smell thankyou very much!!!! Washing machine sorts her out no problem at all....
  11. It's funny how Scooby simply shuts up when he is cornered. Only to arise again when he feels the topic has been dropped.
  12. I'ld be tempted to give these a go. My cat loves shreading my carpets, so I'm in need of ideas.
  13. Certainly it is delivering better, but after having recently dealt with the NHS through my job...... good god its a f*cking mess of red tape and short sightedness. The most obvious case of many accountants in their own little holes failing to be able to grasp a bigger picture I have EVER seen.
  14. All we are saying, is give peace a chance......
  15. Teleportation, no. Personal intercontinental ballistic catapaults. YES!
  16. Like I said, purely an observation. And besides, given the figures you have just delivered, that would still entail trebling your fanbase to fill a new stadium. A stadium that would be paid for by money you havn't got, from a fund that is dwindling due to the crippling wage bill and lack of money coming in from a small stadium, and all at a time when the economy is going south.
  17. Absolutely! And just imagine what it could do if it was run properly!!!
  18. Considering the current price of aviation fuel, air travel may become unsustainable in the near future anyway. Why invest in something potentially duff in a few years time.
  19. Interesting that we are at an all time low and are attracting crowds of 14k or so. The Skates, during their leaner times of the mid nineties struggled to break averages of 10k. Purely an observation. How will they manage to quadrouple their fanbase in little over a decade?
  20. Neither did we. I would suggest having the capital on your doorstep (70 miles to drive to Fulham yes, but it's really not a huge distance) makes one heck of an impact. Far more then you are guessing. And regardless of the short term success achieved by overspending, to the casual it'll be far more appealling to 'support' the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal, who only take an hour or so to reach by train and can be followed easily in the media. Many people follow football to soothe their own egos, not because they have a genuine love for football or their local team. When the financial buble bursts (as it almost certainly will at some stage, not just for you lot, football is unsustainable, like many other parts of the economy) leisure industries will be the first to suffer. Football clubs are a decadence and when the plug is pulled Portsmouth, like many others will plummet, and the more traditional bigger clubs who have fanbases to support their teams will be back to where they should be. Not saying that Saints are one of them, but there are much bigger clubs in this country then you lot.
  21. Be patient, you'll get your fix soon enough.
  22. I'm sure that was meant sarcastically.
  23. Just have to look at clubs like Middlesborough and Blackburn, who are arguably bigger. They struggle to get 23k (Blackburn v ARSENAL FFS!!) and 27k (Boro v the Baggies.) So 40k is completely unrealistic. And these clubs are European finalists and former premiership winners. Assuming the Skates have a fanbase of the same scale as a former premiership winner then that would be 6k extra per game. Not enough to justify a whole new stadium.
  24. There are a few pubs on Longford Road which are quite alright. There is also the Cherrytree club just down the road (the other side of Tesco car park at the end of Lythalls lane) and other pubs a few minutes walk of the Ricoh the opposite side of the A444. It is a few miles from the city centre, but to say it's in the middle of nowhere is a little unfair. (That it is a 5 minute taxi ride from my own house also helps!) If you want a good pub for Ale try Whitefriars in the city centre. If anyone wants any further advice on a good pub do drop me a line. If you're driving do stay clear of the residential streets in the vicinity of the stadium as all cars need permits.
  25. Well, the pubs need all the help they can get at the moment.
