    Istanbul

You can do a great circular trip around the city (all 3 sides) by using public transport which is so cheap and you see real Turkish life. We lived on the Asian side for 18 months so can vouch for it, fantastic city and lovely friendly people. From the Square in Taksim, go down the main shopping street using the old tram; this stops at Galata, take in the Tower then go down to the Bridge using the funicular. Walk across have a beer and Ekmek balk (grilled fish in bread) or get on the tram and go up to the top of the bazaar (could stop off and do Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque on the way). Walk down through the Bazaar, then to the Roman Catacombs, then down to the Spice Bazaar, at which point you are then back at the sea. Then jump on the ferry (passenger) to Kadikoy (asian side) which gives a superb view of the Golden Horn, takes about 25 minutes. Over there, find the tram which takes you on a circle around Moda, lovely little trip. Kadikoy has a street in the market area full of bars and restaurants. Then you can get a ferry back over to Besiktas, take another funicular back up to Taksim! Or just use the extended Metro to get to other places, the tram , the taxi, the buses or the boats!
  2. Check out the BBC Board saying financial situation difficult. FGS! After all the water extraction of the Skates, do not want this. At least saying do not have to sell players MOPO wants to keep.
  3. How good is Matt Targett, look how Calum has come on this season? Every cloud has a silver lining and all that.
  4. Looking ahead, the critical week is the 19th - 26th April with 3 games against the teams just around them, H to Bristol Rovers, then away to Northampton and Bury. Beginning to remind me of our continual flirts with relegation and the Great Escape - but who is/will be their hero - Ryan Bird maybe?
  5. Or a modern Coliseum??
  6. AFCW equalise on 96 mins booooooo
  7. Isn't N before P anyway if both on -17 GD?
  8. Just look at the way he kissed the badge after his goal yesterday - says it all, top lad. Our Captain, our son our player. Foxtrot Oscar manure et al.
  9. Promises to be more exciting than our end of season perhaps? As long as we beat Manure on the 11th I don't care….
  10. FHS just look at the cynicism on twitter if you don't think thats racism, sorry. And he had a very clear view, plus Alex confessed. terrible.
  11. What a joke, what is the point of the fourth official, appalling mistake with undertones of racism. sad day for the Premier league, so embarrassing.
  12. Bet we take more if Sholing get there!!!!!
  13. As always with food store applications, it will rest on Policy, Impact studies and traffic issues. When the Retail park was allowed that was primarily to 'prime pump" a brownfield site for regeneration, to help business uses on the remainder. It has laid dormant for a long time, so it will be difficult to resist on loss of industrial land grounds I suspect, especially given the proposals up by the M271. I reckon traffic will be the key as the roads around are always busy/slow and lots of controlled junctions. It will really boil down to whether PCC want it and to help the Football Club as well, I cannot imagine they would have encouraged Robinson to buy and Tescos to proceed unless they were broadly in favour. We shall see!!
  14. I cannot remember having such a range of emotions during a game for a long time; thinking after 10 minutes we were going to win 6-0, then by half time so angry with continuous back or side ways passing even from near their goal back to Boruc lazily kicking it into touch!! Then at last SRL gets on and pure class tells, 3-0 up smug satisfaction, then panic at 3-2 more concerned at that point about losing 3-4 FGS!! Finally relief and joy with the last goal. Points to note, if thats how we play without SRL then god forbid; Ramirez should be put on a plane to Uruguay tomorrow; JWP must never play in that position again, but he takes a great free kick/corner; and Steven davis deserves a medal for being able to run the length of the pitch on 94 minutes!
  15. Double edged sword fellow ST Holders - if the best players resist the mega bucks from up the M3 or M6 then under the FFP rules our prices for next season will be much higher, well above RPI I would suggest. To keep them I would be happy to pay.
  16. Just love looking forward to a home game next week on a Saturday night after an away win, just want it to be tomorrow, bring it on! Sounds like it will be back to the perfect 11 that did so well earlier on, but feel sorry for Jack, get well soon. Bet he plays Chambers at home though.
  17. Do that and sods law he will get sold in the summer….
  18. Wel at least no mid week game to worry our strikers, except Gallagher who played!
  19. 3 posters above are slating Ricky lambert; I have just watched the MOTD highlights and he chests down for the Lallana chance; he dummies the ball for the Rodriguez chance; he puts a greta pass in for Lallana early second half, weak shot. To say he was awful or not at the races is a combination of spite, blindness and lack of respect. 4 split second moments of errors turned a draw/win into a defeat; forget the last 15 minutes or the 'penalty' as once Gerrard had gone through Lallana for the fourth time it was game over anyway. Move on, blue line, roll on Dellhurst Park.
  20. 4,233 posts to go to 100K, 84 more pages, 50 posts per page, around mid April when no doubt a watershed will be reached?
  21. The futures bright, the futures red and white. Adam and Jay Rod, they're off to Brazil! Oh when the Saints go Marching In… Reminds me of how much more interesting it was watching England as a lad when Mick Channon was in the team.
  22. And all Skrtl does is foul all the time at set plays!! Need to put pressure on that weak point.
  23. Liverpool now 8 games in the League unbeaten this year, scored 26 goals in those games, but let in 12; would suggest a 2-2 draw, 4 points from them this season a good return. I still think they will win the League though, peaking at just the right time. Going back to my Gallagher comment, as I said after West ham, we need more composure in and around the box, that will come with experience as our team is both very young and with limited PL time really, so why would you put in an 18 year old to add to the problem - he only played v Arsenal as he was last man standing and he sliced a good chance wide, hence my point. OK he may be more mobile than SRL, but its what you do with it that counts. Play to our strengths is all I ask.
  24. Gallagher against Liverpool?? seriously?? Ricky will be well up for this one! What are all you lot smoking/drinking, I often wonder if any of you go to St Marys regularly… Clueless does not do it justice. Now retreat to the PTS thread for sanity
  25. I think we lack composure in and around the box; that comes with experience, both of age and the PL. When you see the ages of the lads, JR
