  1. Hey Keith ..... if you ever fly with Emirates via Dubai on your travels let me know. It would be great to see you again. Saw Owen a few weeks ago, and wisely I don't think he has taken Berni to any games (keeping this post on track!!) . Dont think she'd let him go again!! Saw NI and K at the start of season and usually manage to bump into steaming Dave A as well. Cheers E
  2. I think an NSFW warning might be in order FFS
  3. I was watching the whole thing unfold whilst packing to fly back to Dubai the next day Absolute chaos at Manchester and Heathrow with flights diverted all over the show, thousands of passengers marooned looking for hotels and a queue a mile long at security. In the end ithe 12th was probably the safest day ever to fly such was the extra security restrictions. But don't mind admitting took several changes of mind whether to fly or not.
  4. Splitter !!
  5. Mrs EoA has only been to one match - Brighton Away 1980 ish. We needed a lift and she didn't realise that 'do you want to go to Brighton next week' , meant driving me and 3 mates to see a football game!! We had only been 'courting' since about a week after the end of the previous season and footie hadn't come up in any conversations!! Fair do's, she agreed and took us, with a pub stop on the way there and back. She was more interested in the very animated banter going on between the two sets of fans, and thought the 'SeaWeed' retort to them singing 'SeaGulls' (after we'd explained why they were singing Seagulls in the first place!!) was very witty!! She wasn't so keen when we nearly got caught up in a bit of a skirmish after the game though. So, I haven't actually ever taken my wife to a game .... she took me... LOL
  6. Oh Noes .... is Roops back in favour
  7. Similar to many other long term / not quite so young now followers .... 67 - 72ish with dad/ grandad/ uncle / aunty Milton road bottom right hand corner near to a flood light pylon stood on my wooden stool and getting to the ground at 1230 for the big matches to be able to get a spot at the front. 72 - 77ish old enough to go with mates in The Milton under the Toomers choccy and be in the knees up muvver bown surges and right next to any away mobs that tried to take The Milton, until the big boys came along and moved them away from behind the goal. The amazing thing about those days was that there was no segregation and a line of coppers stood between the two rival groups knowing all hell would let loose at some stage. I didn't bother joining the migration to The Archers when away supporters were only allowed down that end, I'm wasn't a hoolie just a spectator!! Over the next few years the corner of the West near the away fans in The Cage and then the corner of East and Archers till seating ruined the whole thing and then moved to halfway line East stand. Since the late 80's have only managed a few games per season in various places and then of course onto SMS.
  8. Was it on The OS? If not it couldn't have happened. Surely he's got more important things to do than to be wining and dining with a few season ticket holders.
  9. Don't think Burn A K***N Day (no swear words just being careful!!) will catch on in Dubai.
  10. Oh and PS ... howsabout getting him re instated omto Teh Banner just in casre he pops on here to see whats going on. WOW Factor as a personality rather than manager, but feel good factor X 10 over Adkins IMHO
  11. Now torn between somebody who has virtually no experience but has the ex Southampton and Big name factor and is one of the best centre forwards ever and has a Prem Medal etc etc going for him versus a guy who i didn't even know existed until y'day and has got an unfashionable club promoted then relegated and then promoted again from the the league we are presenntly in ..... just hope Shearer interviews well and gets a super duper back up team.
  12. no!! I am Cortese and so is my wife.
  13. Feck ... that rules me out then .... however I have been told that I have the perfect face for radio.
  14. We are going to appoint a tribute act, Martin One Nil as our manager seeing as the real mccoy decided not to play 2nd fiddle to the Tea Ladies Financial advisor. Meanwhile, I hope that all those heart felt written messages on shirts/flags/stuffed toys etc are kept somewhere special as a genuine tribute from a very appreciative and saddened fan base.
  15. Ironically poor old Dave Jones who came to us as one for the future lost his job whilst fighting a court case to prove that he hadn't handled any young players.
  16. No disrespect to the guy, but yo yoing between L1 and Championship with Scunny doesn't rock my boat. My Whelmed would be very Undered indeed. The word 'relegation' isn't one you'd like to have on your CV that's fo sure. WOW Factor is virtually non existant and as a consequence crowds will plummet and a lot of players who joined on a Pardew/Cortese fast track dream to The Prem, may not have quite the same out look on ... (FFS I can't even remember the guys name .. ) Adkins/Atkins? ... and be honest until this week how many knew who he was, or even now what is Christian name is? Ability to cope with the pressure of Automatic Promotion or Bust? Surviving a season in The Championship with Scunny this season would virtually gain him Hero status and fans offering their 18 year old virgin daughters to him in as a gesture of their appreciation. We however are a different kettle of fish, and most of our 18 year olds have 4 year old kids called Connor or Shane. a Big Name isn't a guarantee of success I know (Forbes Phillipson Masters would be in charge of Chelsea by now otherwise!!), and to be honest I'd rather have AP here still than 95% of the names bandied about, but whoever comes in will get my 100% support unless it justifies otherwise., but maybe we should all be bracing ourselves for our next converstion with some gold digging or genuine Prem club fan when they say 'WHO?'
  17. Is he tapping up Fabio? or looking at potential loan players in the England squad!!
  18. Why, has he been a naughty boy?
  19. Im guessing either DubaiPhil ..... he's already tried out the managers place on the bench for size with The SaintsWeb games or Tijuana Tim, Cortese, being an avid listener to Radio Solent post match programme, can't help but be impressed with Tim's football knowledge and motivational skills.
  20. Were you being tortured at the time or just sat on something sharp? ?
  21. Somebody had better let The Electricity Board know that there will be a sudden surge in power usage (similar to the HT kettle on for a cuppa surge) as millions of Saints fans fire up their computers to check this out
  22. 11.23 pm Press Conference to stop The Echo being able to claim a scoop?
  23. Oh Well .... The Application Form for the vacancy might as well have Yes Men and Arse Lickers only need apply in HUGE letters at the top.. Football management at every level by committee. Just imagine a substitution is needed. New Boss thinks player A should replace Player X, but Mr Reed thinks that Player B should should replace Player Y .... so they have to phone up CorteZ The Killer with his vast knowledge oof football to cast the deciding vote. He may even tink Player C should rplace Player Z and decide that his ruling is final and will be done ..... might explain the substitutions on saturday.
  24. Exactly ... good point and well presented!!
  25. I've met Nick a few times over the years, normally at away games, and I'm sure he would be agreeable to having a chat to anyone regarding their views of how the club should be run and how the fans opinions could be put across to the media better. And by a chat I don't mean chat in a StuRomseySaint type way ... LOL The same thing used to happen to Clive Foley many years ago ... any Saints news and The Echo would be on the phone, of course this was in the days before the innernet meant every Tom **** and Harry could make their views known if they wished.
