Argentina upping the ante on the Falklands....

Cant we give them the Falklands and put our hard earned money to better use? Instead of throwing our money away on protection we build schools and hospitals....or pay off the debt? -

I raise monies paid because I think its relevant, what's the contract between the NHS and us? I should not pay for anything if I don't know what I am buying...should any of us? This assumes that we are all contributing something.

My wife and I earn close on £150K a year between us and I expect to be treated well by the NHS should the need arise and I need emergency treatment. We have private health care.... God knows we pay a lot to our govt between us in tax and NI. I am a big believer in the NHS and these Tories are screwing up what labour had pretty much sorted out. Dont give me crap about NHS and waste as if nothing is wasted in the private sector coz thats b0ll0cks. Otherwise I would not have the job I have.

Both my kids learned to skate in Basingstoke, seemed popular there so no reason why an ice rink in Southampton would not prove popular

Is he boring just because he has a different viewpoint from you? Is it boring because you have a short attention span? I find the extract interesting, especially the trust fund that allows the dodging of inheritance tax. You don't like tax dodgers or is dodging tax ok?

I send my woman to Costco for 24 bottles of real ale £1 a pint for a good drop of stuff. If the price is right and we have the space I have nipped out and bought 100 bottles. We used to have around 150 bottles of wine, too. We have cut down our consumption now. I still go into pubs....LSB in Newbury is good, live music and all that....you can't beat it. So for me in my mid 50's its live music and food a la the Concorde Club. LSB etc or I will stay in. Not sure how we fit into the demographics though.

OK you got me...why do you think we spent billions on this war then.....I need some amusement As an intersting aside - why are people asking these questions now? As another aside, do you know whether the US was planning an invasion of Afghanistan prior to 9 11?

Age 56 Live in Newbury First Home game was against Charlton in 1966 Saints won 1 nil Fell in love with all things Saints, I used to queue outside the ground well before 13:00 for a 15:00 kick off to get a spot by the wall (I was in seat A17 at the Gaumont for Led Zep, Moody Blues and ELP so I am a bit obssessive). I would freeze my nuts off in winter. Never told my parents I went. Didn't miss a home game for 5 years until I got a Saturday job. Season ticket holder - I now arrive 30 minutes before a game these days, grab a hot dog and coke and take my seat. I now wear a Berghaus Incinerator jacket to matches and I can't get cold!!

The two main reasons for the invasion of Afghanistan were the Caspian Sea oil/gas reserves and the supply of opium.

Its fairly obvious to me.....the US is a military industrial country. It manufactures vast amounts of military hardware and weopons. It has to fire the weopons and use the hardware so it can make more to replace it all. In order to do this it needs to have wars. Coupled to this is the West's need for energy security. This is a convenient marriage but we have to have a pretext so we use a war on terror to justify it. What exactly is a war on terror? For how many years since the end of the second world war have the US been involved in a major war? As for why we are in there, well we are their ally. We have lost 400 of our brave servicemen and women to further the aims of the US war machine - we bring a bit of respectability to it all. Iran is next..... And all the time the US is going bust
