  1. I am not saying that am I? Do you know how many times Spurs scored more than 4 goals in the league this season? that in itself shows how poor the opposition was this season. Chelsea got the record number of wins..a great side but the best ever or just fortunate that the bottom half were shockingly bad? The number of points required for 8th just shows how mediocre the bottom 12 were this year.
  2. Have you watched those teams? take Spurs for example...they are about the same as last year yet have got more points and more goals..that's due to regression from the bottom half rather than the top 6 improving...look where the top teams got to in Europe?
  3. Lol the current owner is, if rumours are to believed, about to saddle us with 70% of £200m pounds worth of debt...that's £140million pounds! Not sure even Nicola got us to those levels! The good news is if she leaves she becomes the devil and everyone will hate he anyway...possibly this time with good reason!
  4. Everton at home was poor even though we won..I would agree we played some "easy on the eye" football at times. However that's easy when you are playing at backwards often and having lots of possession in areas which won't hurt the opposition. Our best performances against Liverpool were not footballing master pieces or pleasing on the eye. I will say Puel gets the team playing consistent. I still think ( last few games excepted) that we played pretty much the same week in and week out. It worked away against the lower teams as being at home teams had to be more open but at home the slow build up let teams (who were defensive anyway) to get 8 or more players back in the box. This meant the crossing game was a waste of time with our players (if they got in the middle) being severely out numbered. How many times did we you see a game when you thought we stepped up a gear? We carried on playing the same game for 90 minutes, the pace rarely changed. Our play was alright never great and rarely really poor. "Average "I would say. If we have Puel next year, I suspect it will be more of the same..not saying that's good or bad...just "average".
  5. Why? What does 8th give you that 13th doesn't? Being a long distance supporter it might give you bragging rights I suppose but as someone who has to watch it every week..playing good football and finishing 13th would be something to be proud of...however if you play good football you undoubtedly would finish higher than 13th this year. the bottom half were as bad as I ever remember. How many times did commentators say how rubbish games have been and didn't that scouser say live on air something like..this is why sky are losing viewers? The standard of the bottom lot have been poor and it cost Arsenal fourth as they got more points than last year yet finish fifth. However the top 6 (who weren't any better than last year..(with the exception of Chelsea and maybe Liverpool) found it extremely easy against the teams from 8th down.
  6. Why so worried about what others think? You have made your point 100 times and we get it. Some want Puel to stay, some want him to leave.. One will be happy come the start of the season and then they will be proved right/wrong at that time. Could be he stays and we go down..then you are proved wrong..could be he goes, we get someone new and we go down so the ones who want him gone are proved wrong. At least if he goes you can say that you were right forever more no matter what happens! What's the point in covering the same ground over and over and over and over and over...
  7. TBF their view of Southampton is that we are that tiny club on the South Coast who should be in the Championship. Therefore even staying up deserves a high mark, let alone 8th. It's shown by the marking down of Everton who are, in their view, massively bigger than us so 7th isn't so good and being only x points in front of us is a poor season.
  8. I agree it was a good performance.. Let's all just be happy! :-)
  9. Xxx
  10. I know he would have... "Mug" lol... I thought you were meant to be bright? Your witty "repartee" is normally petty name calling... Struggling with the keys are you? Fat fingers? Too old for technology? Lol never mind..it will soon be over for you. Xxx
  11. I don't always agree with his/ the boards decisions, he does wind me up sometimes when he spouts rubbish (like top 4 etc) and I think that sometimes we sell to Liverpool too quickly..at least make them wait rather than sell in June FFS.. But otherwise I think he is pretty competent at his job. I don't really think Puel was a bad appointment, on paper it should have worked and maybe it will yet.... I would see no reason why we would be desperate for him to leave?
  12. Lol so I can only use your stat? Other stats which prove its not shooting that's an issue its the positions we are creating and shooting from are not valid...you are right, we will never agree...let's see next season when all the excuses for Puel are gone (although when Gabbi signed we were told it would be so so different as he was e missing link but actually very little has changed) whether we suddenly go from the joint worse goal scorers at home to scoring a reasonable amount. I know where my money is.
  13. I don't agree, we had Austin and he can score from crosses prolifically, but either due to our set up or some other reason, he often wasn't in the middle when a cross came in.
  14. You are wrong. Not for the first time but carry on making your own stories up.
  15. We were easily the better side but let's not forget this is the team who has scored less goals than any other in the division..or did I hear they scored the least in all four divisions? They had conceded 18 goals in their last nine games including hammerings by Hull and Bournemouth. Beating boro at this stage of the season should really be a given not something to celebrate like we have won the World Cup!
  16. No it doesn't... "Big chances missed"- we have missed 10 less clear cut chances than Stoke..and only one more than Bournemouth... We don't create clear cut chances and miss them. We do lots of shots but not from great positions. We do loads of crosses but it's not the finishing, it's that either no one is in there or it goes over people's heads..so chuck in loads of crosses but if they are rubbish what's the point? Lots of our play is keeping possession outside the box. We let the opposition set up and inevitably end up going round outside and chucking in a cross. The stats don't prove anything...they don't prove me or you right and depending on which one you chose you can make anything of it.
  17. You need to check out the other stats instead of agreeing with some cherry picked to prove a point!
  18. You might have a long wait..we average a cup final every 10 to 15 years! We will be on our twelveth manager by then...
  19. Silva and Puels win % at Hull and Saints are surprisingly similar. Both about 40%... Career wise Silva is significantly higher than Puel if I remember right.. Both from "minor leagues" I would have said Hull were a much worse squad, others might argue Puel has a load of injuries. From their records I would say Silva edges it..but not a lot in I.
  20. I thought we forced RK out? He made it clear he would stay one more year..how is that a hypocrite?
  21. Hypothetically..if he somehow did get the job, would you immediately start a Silva out thread? Lol
  22. Most crosses but just four goals from headers.... It's OK to have lost of ****e crosses but if 1) there is no one in the middle or 2) it sails over everyone's head then what's the point? No goals from counter attacks? Big chances missed is loads less than Stoke and one more than Bournemouth... Some interesting stats on there....
  23. Check the match threads..very rarely on here during a game, home or away... Nope didn't do any of those..must have missed em.
  24. Do we have to do the "I have been to moe games than you etc". Granted I have not been the last few away as I just don't think it justifys the outlay at present but I had enough away credits to be in the first allocation of every away game this year... And there was a lot of pretty dull games away too.
  25. I I would admit if Keoman was in charge and we were playing similar to last season in style. Eg including some really really ****e games...I would have been delighted with ninth and a cup final.
