  1. Probably not to be fair, but I thought it was about transfers in, not necessarily wages. I might be wrong but if I am not then spending might be an issue, but if we have good players then it's a case of keeping them, does that break FFP?
  2. So that comment goes for Chelsea and City does it? The difference here is that we do have the money, unlike the nonces down the road, who had nowhere near enough to sustain their payroll.
  3. So we pay them £5m, then we are competing.
  4. Well that was sort of my point, clearly these footballers sign up for the money, so if we offer the same wages and keep the best players and then win stuff and then go into the champions league we become a big club. We aren't a million miles away at the moment are we, so is not the optimum time to take the next step forward?
  5. ...
  6. but we are backed by a person that owns more than than the shareholders of Man Utd, Liverpool, Spurs (maybe), she could compete if she wanted to, Chelsea and City have shown that's possible over the last decade or so. We cant compete with their history or even their fanbase so some extent, but its actually not that hard to pay Clyne 80K a week if she wanted to. That would spell real ambition, but if we are not ambitious then fine, its not an issue, its just, what are we?
  7. Surely with all that ambition we have, the players won't want to be going anywhere?
  8. Potentially world class according to some
  9. And no match recognition, not one of Cortese's greatest days. But we get one for Gary Speed who has no connection and decided to die himself.

He did indeed, so will take back my abysmal knowledge of football World Cup substitutions. fact remains that Elia was not and never will be world class.

    no difference eh?

sorry, when was Ella considered world class? And i think you will find that he didn't play in the final, he played in the finals, he might have been on the bench, but then i guess the whole squad is on the bench anyway. And just because you play in a WC final (not that he did), surely doesn't automatically make you world class does it?

just not blinded by fanaticism, caught it from Turkish when he posted that being a about seeing a good player sold on for good money was what it was all about. If you want me to be 'happy clappy' and call players like Ella world class (by your post you are agreeing that Mane and Ella are world class then?) and say our board has proved everything is great about them, then fine, I am sorry I have misinterpreted what a forum is all about.

as good as Toby is, do you really think that AM would be letting go a world class player? As someone else said, Messi, Ronaldo, Mueller..... can see the difference. As for Morgan, absolute class, but world class? Not a chance. But potentially if he went to Barca perhaps where his game might raise even higher.

Potential world class? As are Ella and Mane? either you are taking the **** or are taking the ****?
  19. I think you must have me confused with someone else re. the summer, i am sure that i didnt actually make more than one comment on the matter. It amazes me that people cannot have a different opinion, it doesnt hurt anyone, just what i reckon. You dont agree, thats fine, aside from the last lines, your reply is fine. But you failed to answer what my point is, why was a striker not purchased in the window, or did you think pelle was good enough to carry us through the rest of the season? And i am not really 'having a go at the board', just saying that i personally dont believe the hype. Sorry if you and others disagree, would it be a better place if every thread was just a load of head nodding?
  20. even your mate Turkish comes up with better than that.
  21. well done sir, what a splendid point you have added to the debate.
  22. Thanks for getting the point. But still dont believe that there is proof that this board is ambitious, we'll see if Koeman stays at the end of the season because there is no doubt he will be offered better jobs. As for Lallana, ineffectual yesterday yes, but you wouldn't have him back in our team?
  23. Thats it exactly. Of course playing for Liverpool for more money is attractive, but then he had the chances to go for more money when we were in L1. We had a shot at CL and even though it is clear that we are very light up front, did we buy a striker in the window to bolster our chances? No, we got another loan player. Sorry, it was a total lack of ambition and we are paying for it now. We wouldn't have had a better chance, but we didn't have a go at it. At least we know where we stand in what the previous CEO wanted to what the current one is aiming for. Whicj is fine, as they long as they are honest about it, which they wont be, it will be all this "pushing for the top 4 etc..." bollix, thats what gets me, more than not making the top 4 actually. Yes, whatever happens it has been a very good season, but we didnt push for it.
  24. As long as it's not as embarrassing as at Liverpool, way over the top.
