  1. Just catching up on this now. I have a dentist's appointment tomorrow. Should I cancel and save the pain for later?
  2. Bit worried about goings on. I have a decent bet on them being relegated. Is this a loser if they are liquidated? A slow, painful and deserving death is what I'm hoping for.
  3. Is this me - but he doesn't talk about the no of people who have paid - but the no of pledges!! which is a completely different thing - so how many have paid up??? Mark Their word is their honour.
  4. Not sure if this helps the inflation stats/argument but in the late sixties I had an Evening Echo paper round which I was paid the princely sum of 15/- a week for 6 evenings about an hour an evening. I used to go to the Dell for every home game and I recall the entry was 2/- for a junior. I had to leave early at 4.30 to get the bus back to be in time to do the Saturday round, hugely frustrating at times!
  5. That was my take as well. He may be a thug with a temper and attitude he cant seem to control but he's not thick. I reckon he's having a laugh.
  6. I have been an avid reader and very occasional contributor to ths thread. To add a little balance I do think it s commendable what the trust are trying to do. I also think it is an impossible task to take on this wreck of a club and to revive it. Surely a phoenix club would be the best way forward in a more appropriate league to their means and funding. Which brings me to all the criticism of the business plan and the prospectus. I think many are being unfair. You should bear in mind this is a small business and you shouldn't expect too much. It's a bit like asking your corner shop to act like Tesco. This is effectively a corner shop with a very small customer base and a little local support and demand. Though again I do believe it would be better suited to the lower leagues and a smaller venue. Just trying to add some balance.
  7. agree (add to the list a carp skate stadium bookie).
  8. Eats shoots and leaves!
  9. I think a running a defence/plea of collective insanity should get us of. Plenty of evidence to back this up.
  10. Another for old timers ... Fred Kemp ... saw a couple of games where he totally bossed the midfield and looked a world-beater then seemed to fizzle out. Tommy Jenkins ... a most amazing dribbler of the ball ... unfortunately most of the time no end product Also worth a mention (though effected by injuries) ... David Hirst, Perry Groves, Charlie George Special mention to the "tin man", Delgado.
  11. I'm not sure Swansea are all that and, whilst we played well, i think it was against a team that played poorly. Should've got the 3 points really.
  12. Thought it was a sensible sub. Shaw looked solid at LB and played well but didn't offer a lot going forward. We needed to chase the game at this stage and Fox is a more attacking option at LB. I do think Shaw looks better than Fox as a defender though. Otherwise we were playing well and can't argue about keeping the same shape and players on the pitch. It's all about opinions - I might have given Jay Rod a go in place of Sir Rickie or maybe Mayuka on for Punch but as I said I have no ruck with NA's decisions yesterday.
  13. I thought it was nice interview and he sounded very genuine.
  14. I'm not it explains our away form?
  15. Marginally - I think Cork was caught out and that led to the ball going back to Gazza when we were pushing forward. Tenuous IMO and overall I thought he made a huge difference to midfield. My only concern, other than the inexplicable error, is that I'm not sure Swansea were very good.
  16. Nick Holmes is a must. Don't see many beards like that these days,
  17. I am still to hear any hard evidence that Cortese is an evil tyrant. All seems to be "according to sources", heresay or MLT's grudge. He appears to me to be nothing other than a focused and driven CEO.
  18. Yep ... Kingsland Centre ... will be proud to join in "there's only one Nigel Adkins" and praying for the win.
  19. Home leg League Cup Semi Final against Leeds - Terry Curran - 1-0 to send us to Wembley ...
  20. Classy (for a scouser that is)..
  21. Oasis and Queen. Seen most of the other big names/groups I wanted to see (Stones, Faces, Bowie, The Who etc) but really regret having missed out on these two.
  22. I don't know how some can say he is not a "premiership" manager. He is an intelligent, articulate, passionate, enthusiastic, driven individual. Above all honest. You tell me if the same qualities apply to some of the candidates and existing "premiership" managers - Hoddle - intelligent, articulate? Jol - articulate, passionate, enthusiastic? Hughes - intelligent, articulate, enthusiastic? Redknapp - above all honest? Fat Sam - articulate, passionate, enthusiastic, driven? He should be given time. Gems like NA don't come along often.
  23. The Times article is very fair and certainly reflects my feelings. I really, really hope and pray for a result on Saturday. Then, hopefully, it will be onwards and upwards under Nige.
  24. I think he will have the Swansea game and if the players can't play their hearts out and get a win and then he's toast. Wrong IMO and I can't see an acceptable replacement at the moment unless Cortese can pull a rabbit out of the hat with his Italian connections.
  25. If it is without substance then there's real value in backing him to stay or Hughes to be sacked first. By the way, I would love him to stay and see us through this sticky patch. In my opinion he's the best manager we have had since Lawrie Mac. Just pointing out what's happening in the betting markets.
