In other walks of life, particularly in management, it's commonly accepted as the first 100 days that you have to make an impact in a new role. I guess that would equate to half a season?

Please bear in mind this is in HK$ so may not be worth the effort (12.5HK$ to 1£) ....

Being paid to win by rivals is okay - so says Mr Laudrup
KK the 2nd replied to manina-pub's topic in The Saints
I think the problem is a team not giving its all to win every match anyway. If this was happening there would be no need for any financial incentive. -
What about ex smokers? Suspended sentence or do they have pay for their past? Also passive smokers, should they go as well? It's not as straightforward as you make out.

From one of the blue few. Quite amusing ... 1 Posted 20 Sep 2012 08:58 6th Bid Launched Trevor Birch was left dumbfounded when a 6th bid was received late last night (writes BBC's Matt Slapper). The group, supposedly headed by an ex Admiral from Lovedean were attempting to provide proof of funds. This was expected to be available "come next Pension day". Interviewed on the steps of the Guildhall Wetherspoons the group's front man announced he would be providing funds to buy players "who had played for both Pompey and a lot of other clubs". As fans launched a rabid assault on twitter to find out more, the group's head of Public Relations (a retired Colonel) announced they would not be dealing with social media as they didn't really know what it was and previous forays into it had not gone well. The announcement was temporarily halted whilst one of the group went off on a bitter tangent about the pensions available for ex serviceman. As he was quickly ushered away the group introduced us to their brand logo. The new speaker appeared with a balaclava to hide his true identity but underneath a hint of a Welsh accent could be noted. He seemed to be greatly amused by his creation of a "Sailor urinating on an Israeli Gun Runner". Local fan and part time accountant Barney U. L. Clubb noted "it looks like a picture but it's not funny...now if you don't mind, I'd like to finish this bacon roll". More information regarding this bid should be announced later... 8 Posted 20 Sep 2012 10:04 re: 6th Bid Launched Further updates regarding the 6th bid (attempts to call it #Bid#6 were scuppered as the use of hashtags proved far too confusing for the group). In a surprising twist, Barney U.L Clubb became so convinced by the Bid Propaganda he offered his Financial Services to the group. When asked what kind of attendances would be required for the group to provide ongoing success for the club he replied "anywhere between 12 and 34,000". Admiral Lovedean also provided exciting information regarding a joint deal with Littlewoods for the rebuilding of Fratton Park. It was announced that 3 nights a week the ground would become 'the world's biggest Bingo Hall'. Food and drink facilities will be dramatically enhanced in the N Stand with the building of a brand new restaurant catchily titled "69 - A meal for two with a hairy view". It is believed that the ground will be re-named the "Littlewoods Over 75's Night on a Thursday Special Park'. Fans of local rivals Southampton were left bitter at these plans as "it didn't offer anything amusing when spelt backwards". More news when it arrives...

Not sure it's that important. Its not like cricket where the captain needs to work out strategy and tactics and make decisions.

I'll watch it later on tv but the guy I was with reckoned Kelvin should ave saved it. I thought it was just a good free kick. Anyway Villa are in for a kicking. Btw did anyone think we were too soft today? No yellow cards, hardly a foul? Should we be getting stuck in more?

At least there was some 'appiness on the train back ... aaampshire, aaaampshire!

Agree with your final comment ... I was in the Arse end at the opposite end to the Saints and the guy next to me asked me what the saints were singing ... I said 5-1 and you still don't sing ... And he just nodded

Did wonder about this. Easy to put all the blame at Fox and Clyne and that might be right but are they getting enough support and protection from midfield. I have to say I'm not sure but my instinct is we are weak in these two positions.

Just back and now had a few. Feeling more refectful and less suicidal than earlier. Tough day ... was in with the Arse so always makes it difficult when you get a tonking like today. Reflections .... Arsenal were good, f@ucking good. Positives ... I thought JWP stepped up to the mark and was our best midfielder. Ramariez looked like he could really add something, but not today. Yoshida looked comfortable on the ball as replacement for Jos Thought it was great that AOC and Theo came to applaud the Saints fans (also Theo's muted celebration) Go on Walsall !! Go on Hampshire !! Negatives ... Not sure what to say ... we were outplayed. We look exposed on both flanks ... not sure either Cylne or Fox are up to the job. Morgan was a shadow of the player he was against Man U ... Rickie was bossed out of it ... Don't know why?? Anyway back to the wine, not sure it will feel any better in the morning but helps now ..

Agree ... I think this sums it up but I would add that those police that were party to the cover up now need to brought to justice.

Semi-final at Highbury in 84 was similar - the crush getting in was the worst i had experienced and the carnage at Hillsborough could have equally happened here. Hillsborough was a disaster waiting to happen made worse by the police. The subsequent cover up is shocking.

Congrats to Adam. Great news.

I have to confess to having a rather optimistic pre-season bet on Saints finishing in the top half. Looking a bit dodgy now but my vote has naturally gone on 8 - 10. Can't win them all but sitting on a nice bet on P**pey going down at 5/1 struck in July! :-)

This is serious. How close could Rickie be to an England call-up ???
KK the 2nd replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
They are proven at ths level but yes, maybe we should. We need to look beyond the old guard and the likes of Adam Lallana should be seriously considered. -

Would love to see Rickie in an England shirt but trying to look at this objectively, Hodgson needs to build a team for the future and I think age is against RL. Anyway I'm not sure we should risk him, probably best to say he has a knock and not available ... :-) -

Espn classic is free. -
Terry Paine should be the first name on the team sheet

Not sure twitter followers necessarily reflect "all time". Shilts by far in my view but I expect the followers reflect a younger sample than yours truly!

2-0 down against Salisbury :-)

Might be worth a punt each way? You get 1/4 odds top four. Couldn't see 90/1 though? Best I could see was 20/1.
