  1. It's the black Ted Bates statue (mk1)
  2. Just don't declare them. You've already been fined/punished and speeding is not a criminal offence, it's a civil offence. None of their damn business.
  3. What/where is nordshlieffebaj?
  4. No hangover, take away your St Ives branch line, imagine it was never even laid and lovely St Ives (our favourite break destination fwiw) would be oh so different. This is not purely about people who are alive today, on the contrary, it is something that we are gifting to our children. Trans Manche Link anyone? We are but pebbles on the beach and we cannot pretend that King whatsisname can command the incoming tides. Go with the flow you'll find ita much less purturbing existence.
  5. You do write like you know what you are talking about but I am sorry but simply I do not like them, I wish that they would just f-f-f-fade away.
  6. No disrespect but seriously, the money question is moot. Just like any megabucks project it is someone else's problem it really is. Those protesting are doing so via a medium that 15 years ago they were set against too. I'm not being holier than thou here, hen I discovered my nippers secrey bought (lied about his age) Motorola charging under his bed way back when I went ape, now I can't leave the house without my iPhone, which incidentally is miles better than his crappy blackberry.
  7. So, one group protest cos it's in their back garden and another moans that it not near enough to them. Be more objective I say. Come on people, where would civilisation / society be if the antis had got their way with stopping mechanised farming, what about those Romans and their straight roads, tarmaccadam, sanitation, THE WHEEL. What was it Robert Zimmerman said? The times they are a changin', like it or not it's inevitable. Anyway, times that 1 hour saving by a couple of mill (pax numbers) each year and you may just hear that penny drop.
  8. I'm not even gonna read the op let alone the replies. Of course it should get built, no debate, no enquiry, no appeal, no hanging around. Massive progressive project that will be a great legacy for generations to come. It is somewhat ironic that the announcement was made on the anniversary of the first length of the London Underground. Without which London would not be the London that we all know, love and are rightly proud of. Opposers are wannabe Beechingites. Another irony is that I just read Jethro Tull's name mentioned researching another thread.
  9. Maybe so but I don't like their sound, to my ears a faux angry noise penned to please. No prob with that as I guess every artist needs a formula, just not my cup of tea. I have no problem with others liking them though. When they Played the Rose Bowl I won tickets and in all honesty took 7 phone calls to mates before I could offload them!
  10. If you just want a neat n tidy cut then grade 1 it yerself. If you want a hair style then go to yer nearest hairdresser. If you want a proper mans haircut, no poncey crap, then find an experienced barber, men are very different to women's cuts. 2 highly recommended by me are the nipper in Burgess Road right by all the takeaways, pray4Jay's brother and, the bestest in soton, Romsey road Shirley. Hair product? Black & White's wax.
  11. The NHS should not be judge and jury imo. Just get these ladies sorted and let the legal bods fight over the bill I say. Life first.
  12. Thank you, my mistake. Good aren't they.
  13. No one has mentioned RUSH !!!! Hang your heads. Hank Williams sends tingles down my spine as does Alison Moyet but this really is an unanswerable question for anyone with an open mind to music and it's genres imo. I'll change my mind every half hour apart from The Beatles but they are surely a given, no?
  14. I used to like you, wash your mouth out. Hope alls well mate, can you tell mrs l.s that Monday is my last day, I'll be in touch.
  15. If we are talking of overrated then for me The Who are right up there. Soloists? Diana Ross, cannot stand the woman's voice.
  16. Any 'tradesman' who uses 'tradesman' paint is a charlatan IMHO. I must confess though to some naughty shortcuts in my time: I once used Vim as filler in a house we were selling, worked quite well surprisingly.
  17. I still have the socket set I bought for tinkering with my first motorbike 30 years ago. Kamasa. Lost 2 sockets over the years but apart from that as good as the day I bought it. No matter what your other half says, you DO need more than drill, I'd go as far as to say 3 minimum; Cordless, corded, SDS. A spare cordless to save having to keep changing bits is a good idea on all but the smallest jobs ime too.
  18. In fact, I just cleared out my workshop and have binned about 50 kilos of old tools and nuts, bolts, screws etc. I'm a terrible hoarder and had kept all of my old cheapy kit. Bent, broke, rusty and generally useless, I have no idea why I kept them. My mantra which I learnt from my dad WAS it'll come in handy one day, total ******** of course. Also, my bonfire of offcuts that may come in handy one day, is still smouldering 2 days after I lit it.
  19. TF is always newsworthy. I dreamt that he saved a pen in the last game of the season and won us the title.
  20. I'll. All him tomorrow. Our friend is really excited.
  21. Couldn't have been worse than Bart the other week.
  22. I wanted to kill someone once, it is a horrible feeling. I am glad that I let him live.
  23. Turning Japanese (the Saints are) turning Japanese I really think so. Thread closed.
  24. Saint Jonny, spoke to your dad. Said he'd call you. Don't want to rip him off.
