  1. Exactly the way to look at it Mikey. No one should dress it up as something it isnt....its foooking horrible, but pays more than anything else .....good luck
  2. Last time i saw you, you were pushing a leaflet through my door.....deadly serious. Let him find his own way
  3. Barry, you got what you wanted and in the end (Based on his last post) no one could argue. But he made some valid points, remember where this forum came from, remember this is all just for fun.
  4. St Landrew is spot on the money. Just as an aside, for those that are 30 and over what time did games finish in the 70's 80'snd even the 90s? Where did this extra 10 minutes come from....if we can accomodate that, then a couple of technology stops wouldn't be an issue.
  5. No i dont think so. I got caught doing 106 on the M27, which is technically a ban ( more than 30 miles over the speed limit) I didnt take the duty solicitor as he looked about 12, and pretty gormless (Wise choice as it turned out) and made the case that at the time I was driving over 30k miles a year, had done so for the last 5 (represents about 15 years of driving for the average motorist), and this was the only speeding conviction i had ever had. I was the sole breadwinner with a child to support as well and took a letter from my boss saying it would cost me my job. Outcome was a big fine and 6 points. A friend who was more similar to your case racked up the points that meant he would get a ban, had the same letter (From the same boss) and got four weeks - but..... and I don't know if it was a mistake or not, got a clean license after his ban, so he was infinately better off getting a short ban and then a clean license back afterwards. The first point i raised - "Extenuating" is not the right word or phrase and can't rememer what it is called - but it does exist.
  6. With the exception of player fees, i think we were pretty much self sustaining last season, given the numbers of players released, I am now 100% sure we are, although i do believe ML will continue to fund the players transfer fees needed to get us promoted. (Based on nothing but assumption) With regard to cortese, take a read of his interview in the JPT program (Very interesting). He is not here for the long term, he is looking to build or lay the foundations of a sustainable club and ultimately that means extra money...... mostly from the fans. The other point is that Cortese will be on some various bonus schemes. It would be incredible if one of the components of that is not additional revenue / profit. This is a guy used to big chunky bonues from the banking world and probably used to earning around 400 - 500k (In its hay day Coretese's current role paid 450k to Lowe in his best year). So how far off the mark would it be to think that he gets a % of additional revenue streams or at least a $% ofthe profit of those? That's where things like parking, administration charges and booking fees, become significant - and important for him (And the Club) The payback is the club doing well - Everything comes at a price. A hardnose businessman making unpopular decisions, but the club on the up and being successful. Of course there is no gurantee we will be.....but the model he has put in place will blow up in his face if it doesn't. Everything is geared towards the club doing well. Make no mistake, cortese, is not here to make friends, be popular or have his name sung on the terrraces. Everything is about money and success and then he will be gone. Given the characters in charge in the past, it's a case of whether success (promotion) is justification of poor communications, unhelp ticketing policies, hike in prices and appauling PR. I think most fans would take promotion.
  7. Fear not. There is a couple of ways out of this 1) You can claim extenuating circumstances (You may do this only once) and your points will be added and stand upto 18 points but you don't get banned - you will have to drive like a Saint for the next 5 years. 2) Take a letter from your boss, saying you will lose your job and request a reduced ban - two or four weeks is the norm ( Two weeks holiday and two weeks of hardship) 3) Lose your job and huge impact on your family and would require the State to support you. Much larger fine, points added as per point one, but no ban. (This is much easier if you have havent had a previous conviction, but a single charge could ban you.
  8. Yes, is my understanding

The pricing for the Bournemouth game stipulates that tickets will only be sold to those people on their database. Don't be surprised to find the out the only way to be on the database, is either as a season ticket holder or as a member. I am not saying that is the case, but wouldnt be surprised if thats another new introduction.

  13. It was always going to be quiet after the CVA was agreed. The storm will obviously come, if HMRC decide to appeal. Given that andriod, let slip he was meeting with them this week, I think it is safe to assume, HMRC aren't taking this lying down. Depending on how nasty they want to be they could leave it to the very last day (15th July I think), but apart from chanarai, is anybody serioulsy going to buy them until the know one way or the other? I'm afraid the only enetertainment on this thread before the 15th will be the odd tit bit that aa throws us as he looks to resign the national goalkeeper and build a title challenging squad in the middle of a transfer embargo....... oh how I miss Storries little press releases.
  14. Four or five quality signings to be announced at one time, as close to season ticket to cut off date as possible.
  15. Whilst Rooney had a reasonable game against Slovenia, it is still nowhere near his best. Prior to that his first two games were awful and he should have been dropped. Interesting listening to the Spanish press guy who was saying that Xavi, made two runs in his opening game and was knackered, due to the high altitude. Maybe Rooney is suffering from the same thing or maybe he can't cope with not being centre of attention amongst so may other World superstars out there.
  16. You are completely missing the point. This is football, this is banter and if there reply is what you have put.....quality Don't try and dress it up as something its not. Football has been sanitised enough.
  17. It's a song, has nothing to do with not liking the Germans - it's just a song and as i said has all the qualties a good football song should have. If you are so PC, you might want to take ear plugs to games in the future, or if it really upsets you, find another sport. The vast majority of fans enjoy a sing song and most songs will at some point take the **** out of their rivals. As I said the Germans didn't mind it - they enjoyed it, surely you wouldnt want to ruin their fun
  18. Rubbish. The finishing wasn't great, but we won't create the amount of chances we did in many competitive matches regardless who we play, as we did yesterday. I'm not suggesting we were outstanding, but we certainly didn't play badly.
  19. So do I, but when it's being done against the Italians as opposed to them doing it, then it becomes a bit more acceptable
  20. It also states for a fee of around 4.5 million, although the news is reporting that he had a clause in his contract allowing him to leave on a free if the club were relegated. Mr Storrie at his very best again - good job he has 25 years footballing experience, otherwise he might have included a clause that Ben Haim got image rights as well
  21. BTF's example raises some interesting questions and scenarios and as any (Or certainly most) Mums would want to do the best for their children, they will (And should) actively do that. The problem is the "Crutch" that the benefit system has provided is no longer sustainable and the balance of responsibility will move from Goverment, to families and maybe rightly so. I have every confidence that the scenario painted by BTF of her daughter being better of giving up work and living on benefits, will no longer be relevant within a year. The cuts will come thick and fast, loopholes closed and benefits slashed. The surprise is the benchmark of where this becomes viable. I had assummed (Wrongly) the "Better off not working" argument was based on salaries of around 10k. The fact it holds water at over 30k, gives us some idea how out of control the whole system is and ultimately how essential these lastest cuts are. So whilst it is just at the very tip of the iceberg, I suspect that someone with a nice house and car, working a 4 day week, earning over 30k a year, is an appropriate starting place to make cut backs and remove benefits. Whilst I do not doubt that this may impact her lifestyle, (May be one night out less a month) , it can hardly be argued that these people are the most needy and desparate. The pain will be felt by all of us and we will all have our lifestyles impacted in one way or another.
  22. Indeed, All the footage from the 70's the flags are pretty much all Union Jacks. At a guess i woud say at the crossover started in the 80's, grew in 90's and became the norm after Euro 96. What caused it?.....again a complete guess, but may be something to do with Ireland. The IRA were in full swing in the early 80's and that's the first time i can rememer "The Change" of flags started.
  23. JUst remember what they did last time after they pressured the PL to lifting the embargo; Used unregistered agents, Uped the debt even more two players magically paid off theoir contracts so they were free agents and could sign for them Tried to get round the rules that the PL had put in place to have willy paid ahead of other creditors It won't being lifted anytime so and if chanari is still on the scene, it will be January of next year at the earliest.
  24. Good. A nice little snippet; To lodge an appeal they would have to prove we could have given them a better return. Well i'm no lawyer but how about putting the wage cap at 5k instead of 10k or even basing the det on real debts, not a total (To quote aa) that you expect to see drop dramatically when proof is required. Baldrick could prove a better return was possible (Not to mention Griffins) The more you read stuff like that the more you feel assured an appeal will come.....probably on the last day. pompey have consistently stuck two fingers up at HMRC, the last time being last week, when not only did aa not recoginise the full debt he refused to explain why.........HMRC will appeal out of spite if nothing else.
