I doubt it was months ago. Precedent has been set and upheld 100's of times now with relation to domain names purchased and sold. It covers loads, but the 3 main areas; 1) Intentionally registering a domain name to sell on, knowing that someone else will want it for the purpose of financial gain. 2) Registers it for the purpose to leverage an existing trademark or similar trademark, to use for their own purposes 3) "Innocent" registrations where a name domain name can be logical choice , but has many meanings You could own IBM.com, Microsoft.com etc etc and it would only be worth what they would pay, without it going to court...... because as soon as it did they would win.

In my opinion BNP's rise in popularity has more to do with the Tories and Labour refusal to properly and openly debate the issues that the BNP fly their flag to (And i dont mean 1hr on questiontime).

It's actually quite scary, I think he has convinced himself. For the record he has extensive experience is dealling with football administrators > It's just he has never bought or sold a single one  But worry not, he is currently selling 3 prem teams, 4 Championship sides and 12 more in Div 1 or below http://www.ibaseuk.com/12.html

I am certainly no accountant and as stated, in my original post, it as based on nothing more than guesswork, but given that most of the high earners (With notable exceptions) were shipped out last year and any costs that could be slashed or got rid of were, i would be amazed that (Not including transfer fees as per original post) we are not breaking even or at least very close. The attendances must be higher than the NC or ML predicted, plus a couple of half decent cup runs and televised matches to boot. I don't buy your 24 million, for a start the deal was done within 10 days of lynams lot pulling out and whilst there had oviously been work done prior to that, NC said himself it wasnt much although there was always a genuine interest. We haven't spent that much on players With RL being the most expensive at a million. I am assuming that the infrastructure costs you are refering to are the expansion plans at Staplewood, which is still in its infancy, so whilst commited to spending, it hasn't happened yet. 11 million for the club, 2.5 million player purchases, 500k for registrations / agents fees etc and 1 million for infrastructure costs (Not including Staplewood) There is obvioulsy a lot more to it than that, but far closer than 24 million.... we are not in the prem anymore mate. So for 15 million, the squad, the infrastructure, the land, the fan base etc, still looks like a decent investment to me...... albeit if we are talking in football terms as opposed to locking it away and collecting interest.

No problem. All debts were cleared. They totalled 27 million and through the administrators the creditors were willing to accept 13 million as full and final payment. Whether they all got the same % in the pound, i wouldn't know, but ML bought a debt free club for somewhere between 11 & 13 million (The sale of Surman would have to have been reflected in the price)

To all those who think we can wait for next season for promotion
Gemmel replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Im a huge fan of Lallana, but as good as he is, we won't get anything like 5 million for him. He would still be a gamble and won't command that sort of fee until he has proved he is capable at the very highest level. 5 million would over double the record transfer for a league 1 or two club Even two million would be pushing it and that is more to do with historical transfer fees for this division rather than his ability. -
Nothing more than guess work, but I would think we are there or there abouts, with player purchases being funded by ML. We do have a very large squad, with a fair few contracts up in the summer. I expect to see the dross & those that are just picking up a wage to move on in the summer as already posted. If we are breaking even, ML's inevestment so far is no more than 15 million, with a very decent squad and one that will only improve. Promotion next season and it is looking like a "Financially" sound investment........ Not many times you hear that in football.

To all those who think we can wait for next season for promotion
Gemmel replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
We certainly won't be back to square one. There are very few clubs in all leagues that won't lose players they would rather keep this summer and whilst I agree with the sentiment that holding on to players is important and key to next season, it is a reality of football that some will leave and more often that not, the ones we would like to keep. We ae not going up this season and there is no guarantee we will next season, but regadless of who we lose, I confidently predict an exciting and genuine promotion challenge. -
Spot on. Last season a glimpse towards the family centre, would suggest we were in danger of skipping a whole generation of fans. This season and Wembley shows that was wrong. Such a pity that the FA weren't smart enough to work out how to segregate two whole different blocks and more youngsters could have enjoyed the party.

Indeed. between the RMT and Unite they have called 3 strikes in as many months. One was illegal, the other went ahead, but a reasonable service was maintained as many crossed the picket line to work as normal and this one has been averted. The days of the bully unions are coming to an end.

Let me share my favorite “union” story that happens to be…..a tube driver. The tube driver was on long term sick with a bad back and showed no signs of returning to work. Transport for London weren’t convinced this was all cosha, so decided to use an agency to investigate. Having been filmed, living what looked an active life, they followed the driver (Who was still off sick) to the sports centre, where they filmed him again, playing squash. (Few other sports would put as much pressure on the back) To cut a long story short, he was called in to a disciplinary and subsequently fired. The union was up in arms and took their brother under their wing, to fight such a travesty of justice. They challenged the dismissal and won…… They successfully argued that the squash court was a hard floor and that in the event of a tube break down or emergency, if the said driver had to walk his passengers out, some of this passage would be on shingle, which unlike a squash court is an uneven surface and that would affect his back, but the level floor of a squash court wouldn’t. He was re-instated and immediately put back on sick leave…….I don’t know if that is the end of the story, if he is still there or still off sick…..but unions, don’t you just love them :confused:

To me it opens up a whole world of pain and a million new questions, if true.

I'm too knackered to try and work out if that picture posted by Saint Neil is real or not, but if it is, that sparks a few more questions doesn't it?

Can't wait for the game we get the pay back for the Leeds ref
-
Is that really AA
-
I think it was more panic than pre meditated. He had Rickie steaming in behind him and wasn't going to make it with his head. If it had been a league match he would have been sent off, the ref let him off as it was a cup final and the irony is that the ref will get into trouble for it, more than the player.
-
If you really think that standing for a penalty in a cup final at Wembley is so out of order, then may be footall isn't the best spectator sport for you.

Ticket Guard at Southampton Central as the queues go out out of the entrance and past the entire length of overline house..... "We never knew it was going to be this busy"

Martin Samuel, Daily Mail on Coretese: "self serving" and a "buffoon"
Gemmel replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Regardless of the whether the story is fair, accurate or horse ****e or indeed if the author is credible or well positioned to comment is irrelevant , my worry here is that battle lines appear to be being drawn. National newspapers don’t just dedicate significant column space to thirds division clubs on what is effectively an old story, unless they are being fed from one side or another. The slant of the story would suggest that this has come from the “Pardew” camp …….. a term which suggests tension, divisions and unrest. I am genuinely baffled that Pardews job is even up for consideration. Whilst we had a slow start, I’ve watched him put together a squad capable of beating any team in the division, can play different systems, is not scared of changing things during a game and appears to have the support of the players and fans (No mean feat with Saints fans) and is set for a genuine promotion challenge next season – oh and don’t forget the little trip to Wembley that has attracted nearly 50,000 Saints fans. That doesn’t mean we win every week, it doesn’t even mean we perform all of the time, but then neither do Man u Chelsea, Real Madrid etc etc. I fully accept there has been a significant investment, but surely that investment would be put at risk if Pardew was sacked? Some of our top players will definitely be being courted by championship and even Premiership clubs and we’ve seen firsthand how Pardew has held onto players that have been tempted by the bright lights……would for example Lallana stay if Pardew was sacked. Additionally any new manager would want to bring in his own style / players and for me the roundabout would start again. There is nothing wrong pressure, ambition and driving for success, but it needs to be tempered with the reality and oddities that only football produces. If these two really are at loggerheads, then something needs to give, but let’s not forget we are a third division club and regardless of whether Pardew was first choice or not, he is a big name in this division and from what I have seen so far we are lucky to have him. -
