A superbly worded alternative to "a bunch of thick Skates" !
-
Best examples : Man Utd Arsenal Everton Stoke Wigan Worst examples : Teams that change their manager every year or so (too many to list)! You can exclude Man City and Chelsea as they throw silly money away, but generally speaking there is no advantage whatsoever in having a medium/long term plan and then changing manager after a run of bad results IMO ! Look at Wolves last year, they were in a relegation dogfight, sacked McCarthy and things went from bad to worse ! The football world today is full of idiots who think that the solution to every short term problem is to sack the manager. It may serve to appease the mob but does nothing to achieve longer term stability for the club ! All IMHO of course !

If I could catch the little barsteward that keeps digging up my lawn, I'd shoot it myself ! (Have to admit though that I don't actually have a gun:))

Nobody is 'blaming' the fixture list but rational, sensible football people would accept that we were faced with a pretty awesome start to this Premier league campaign ! Even Big Sam on the Sky 'Goals on Sunday' programme this morning conceded that we had been unfortunate with our early opponents and said that a hammering from one of the top clubs was inevitable now and then during the season ! As for the Villa and Everton matches, no point in prejudging anything IMO although it seems that you have already decided that we will lose both !!
-
Spot on, on both points made !!
-
I think that Nigel has been overly sentimental on this issue, sure Kelvin's dedication and loyalty deserves some reward but not at the price of losing matches on a regular basis ! Goals conceded at the the near post (in 3 games so far!), clearance kicks straight to the opposition, no command of the box at set pieces, these problems are very clear to see ! Each match so far, I have had texts and calls from (non Saints supporting!) mates saying that he is our weakest link, this cannot be a coincidence ! I am the last person to condemn any of our players but do feel strongly that we have to act sooner rather than later to sort this out ! (ps. no hindsight on my part, as I started a thread about this at the end of last season!)
-
Who is responsible for the fixture list ? At the moment that seems a more appropriate question than anything else ! Let's calm down and see how things pan out, eh ? With the start that we were faced with, there was always going to be a 'moanfest' from the perennial 'bedwetters' and sure as hell, out they came ! After two consecutive promotions and a couple of encouraging performances against the top sides, I (for one!) am more than willing to give both the team and management a chance to settle and am happy to support whatever they do in an extremely difficult league ! Yeah, just a pity that he only visited Farton Krap and not the Emirates today !!
-
Not quite, that'll fix the fat in the pipes but the clock will still not be working !!!
-
In business and in life "it's all about timing"! Approximately 8 months after administration, with 2 unacceptable bids on the table, (abbracadabra...) an anonymous bid from the middle east arrives on Trevor's desk ! "Manna from Heaven" declare the deluded few, up pops the ice cream salesman and yet again, everything in the garden is rosy !! You couldn't make it up, you really couldn't.........

I had a (small) bill from the garage which I wasn't billed for but subsequently got 2 other bigger bills from later dates which I paid promptly ! I wondered if they'd forgotten or were just incompetent, until 4 months later a bill arrived in the post, seems that the mechanic who did that job is subcontracted and useless with paperwork so they took time to catch up ! Things happen, but the onus is on the trader to issue a payment notice, the customer only has to react when invoiced, makes sense to me !!
-
Use simple common sense and any form of logic and the answer is 'yes' ! It is only because the Skates are involved that any doubt appears !
-
He's probably down here looking to buy a horse or visiting stables etc... 2+2 does not always add up to 5 !!
-
Yeah but can he play on the right at the same time ??
-
A friend of mine had that problem, he just left it hoping that it would fix itself ! Eventually it blew up, causing extensive damage to the utility area and part of the kitchen (I kid you not !), they were bloody lucky that the whole place didn't explode ! I strongly suggest that you get a man in to look at it, cos if you don't you never know what will happen !!
-
Are you sure of that Steve, it just doesn't make sense to me as surely "non contract" must work both ways ?? I understand your point about registration but can't see that the Skates are in any position to hold these guys to ransom ? Even cr@ppy players like these must have agents who study the rules before committing them to a totally one-sided contract (or 'non' as the case may be!).

http://backpagefootball.com/southampton-may-appeal-to-the-neutral-but-must-adapt-to-survive/48361/? An interesting take from a neutral, makes some valid points IMO !
-
Is that not why they were allowed to join on a 'non contract' basis !! I know that it is a bit of a nonsense but that is what the Skates said at the time and if this is correct then the players were free agents at the point of the transfer deadline ! Surely if Pompey are able to dump the players then they have a right to employmant elsewhere ??
-
Nigel was roundly praised for his substitutions at Man City with Lambert and Davis coming on, both scoring and immediately changing the game ! Nigel is roundly criticised for his substitutions against Man Utd (many different reasons!). The fact is that he must live or die by his own decisions, that is his job and he is not afraid to make important calls ! FWIW I thought he got it badly wrong yesterday but I also think that he is big enough to both realise it and learn from it ! I guess also that many of us were surprised by the original lineup but that seemed to work amazingly well !!
-
I had 3 separate taxts from different non Saints supporting mates after the City and Utd games which they watched live on Sky and all 3 (without prompting!) reckoned that our keeper looked a bit suspect/dodgy ! For me there are question marks, but it is interesting that neutral observers also see a potential weakness !!
-
They already kicked one out (his name was Doolally or something!) and he said at the time he was looking for another club so that does not tie in with Mr Appy's comments !!
-
The Cortese/Liebherr mission has always been a 'building block' approach starting with infrastructure, youth development/academy, medical science etc.. Nigel has embraced this philosophy ! Pardew did not and got sacked ! Harry won't so he will never get the job !
-
Already in the relegation zone even before the -10 has been applied !! I'm beginning to get very worried for them ! (well, concerned... Oh ok, I don't give a ****, actually I'm very Appy )!
-
And now the players are getting fewer, Obita sent off !!
