  1. F#cking great, any mention of paying back the debts gets immediately pulled ! I wrote the comment and it was factual, fair and honest, without any abuse or potential liable/slander ! It seems that there is no way to offer a constructive view unless it portrays the Phew as plucky ! There is a conspiracy, now I am sure of it ........
  2. http://www.lifesapitch.co.uk/laptv/podcast/fl-extra/appleton-is-pompeys-manager-accountant-and-miracle-worker/? Appy is now an accountant ! Mr Fairness has posted the only relevant comment so far !
  3. He's supposed to be the most sensible one
  4. Excellent summation, articulate and objective ! One of the best yet IMHO !
  5. Well said Adrian, at least the grown ups on here are willing to read, accept and understand what you have written !!
  6. Individually, I don't think that we are even close to the top level BUT with a strong team ethic, confidence, motivation and application (all of the qualities that Nigel constantly harps on about!) I reckon that we can just about hold our own in the league ! I'd love to see Rickie ram the words of his birth city brethren down their throats and teach them that zillions spent on brutes like Andy Carroll is not the only way to create a winning formula !!
  7. It would seem that we now have bigger fish to fry !
  8. Both my son and now my grandson started at 5, never had any problems apart from constant questions starting with the word 'why' ? ie. when Billy Sharp missed a golden chance in the Wolves match, I stated that it would have been easier to score than to miss, my grandson then innocently said "so why didn't he ?" Sometimes you just don't have an answer !
  9. The supreme irony of course is that we played a 17 year old against the league champions (also another on the bench!) and just to rub it in, he's a Pompey lad ! Appy is certainly acting strangely because only last week when they lost to Plymouth he was extolling the virtues of his young bravehearts who were to be the future of the club! All of a sudden they are excluded, only to be replaced by a bunch of mercenaries who are only there for some sort of payday or because nobody else will take them ! I really hope this recurring strategy come back to haunt them yet again !!
  10. I suppose that it is all about opinions but I honestly don't believe that you watched the same match as me !!
  11. My main point on the OP was not specifically about today's match, it is more that he is not afraid to compromise on big decisions regardless of name or reputation ! TBF I agree that J Rod looks out of place on the wing !
  12. To be fair to Kelvin he did save a penalty and I reckon that although he may have been at fault for the Tevez goal (near post!) but he was blameless for the other 2 !
  13. I was a bit worried looking at him in the tunnel, he seemed totally awestruck when staring up at Vincent Kompany ! Not sure what qualities he will bring to the role long term (does he shout instructions etc..?) but he certainly is Saints through and through !
  14. He made some really big decisions today in terms of team selection, tactics and substitutions and IMO he got just about everything right ! By leaving Rickie and Sharpie on the bench and giving a 17 year old his debut he has sent out a strong message that nobody will get preferential treatment ahead of team priorities ! People like Hammond, Chaplow and De Ridder cannot even get a place on the subs list and this will become even harder for them when the inevitable new signings arrive ! A sign of a good manager is his ability to be objective and ruthless when necessary ! Nigel (along with his backroom staff!) do seem to have these qualities and I was pleased to witness this today !
  15. Don't fret me hearties, as soon as they lose a couple of matches v the likes of Carlisle, Bury and Yeovil, Appy will be considered an idiot ! How long did the "one Peter Storrie" chant last for ? As soon as the current euphoria fades, their track record suggests that a) the crowds will fall sharply and b) their heroes become zeroes ! One home draw with the ground 'rocking' does not make them favourites to push for the title (nor even to quickly get rid of the inevitable -10 points either) ! Keep the faith !
  16. Thanks for clearing that up, I thought that I'd missed something and was getting even more p!ssed off with the FL ! Having said that, how they have sanctioned the signing of a whole new team of players is nothing short of disgraceful !!
  17. Having had to play catch up on here (busy the last few days!) I have only 'skim read' the last 10 or so pages but cannot see the answer to this question : What has made the FL change it's stance on the minus 10 points ? They gave a clear reason in the first place (default of CVA 1) but only a statement without clarity yesterday when they recinded it !
  18. Bloody hell, a Skate preaching about 'morality' ! You couldn't make it up, you really couldn't !!
  19. If anyone wants a quick summary of the 70,606 posts to date on the thread : "They're f#cked !" HTH, Euro.
  20. Don't be too hasty in sticking bets on Plymouth tomorrow night, a friend of mine (a diehard Pilgrim!) has seen most of their pre-season matches and reckons that they'd struggle to beat a pub team right now ! I pointed out that the Skates will be playing their under 16's but he is still not confident ! I'm more looking forward to seeing how they get on v Bompey, that'll be much more of a barometer for the upcoming season !!
  21. Ithink someone is taking the p!ss
  22. Now that you have repeated it, seems that you are actually being serious ! Watch out for the men in white coats, cos they're comin' to get you............
  23. The club made a major **** up on the pricing of all of these pre-season games IMHO ! Maximum price of a tenner and 'kids go free' would for sure have ensured much higher attendances with the additional spending on catering etc.. Granted the olympics didn't help but what's the point of trying to be greedy when it can easily backfire on the grounds of admission price alone ??
  24. That's exactly what Corpse Ho Ho used to say when the last lot of dodgy east Europeans were on the scene !!
  25. the_riddle 10:48 PM on 11/08/2012 Short changing footballers? If the PST are in the position to negotiate with the players it means Portpin have pulled out. Therefore the players will get something or nothing. That's not the PST's fault is it? It's the failing of the club the players signed for. Do you think it's OK what Portpin have done then? Portpin have made them compromise offers they have agreed to, but if you think Portpin will honour these you've not been keeping up. 4 year deals but they are 'reluctant' owners who have said they'll be gone in two years and have a CV which says they've never paid any creditors EVER. 100% of nothing (Portpin's 4 year deferred packages) is not as good as 25% of something (PST's £2m pot which will be honoured) or just £0 (liquidation). Above is from the comments section of the Snooze article re. Portpin's potential pullout ! 'The Riddle' is apparently on the PST board and (believe it or not!) is very sensible and pretty realistic ! For him to say that Chinny cannot be trusted like this, just confirms what most on here often allude to that he is a clever, manipulating, money lender who uses the law when it suits him and flirts with it when it doesn't ! If he becomes Chief Skate next week (again!) then God help them !!!
