I visited S.Korea about 3 times a year for more than 30 years (on business) and my view is the polar opposite of yours ! Polite, friendly, welcoming and loyal would sum up my feelings towards them ! The incredible contrast from where they were in 1974 (my first trip) until now, is nothing short of miraculous and is mainly due to their work ethic and desire to change their lives for the better !
-
Bold a) Read them both and many others ! Bold b) No, can't match a head of the British Embassy but my mate is a native Korean speaker and doesn't miss much ! Anyway I can tell that you have a good knowledge of the place and I'm sure that we would both like to see some positive changes sometime soon !

My South Korean friend who now lives in the States was in Pyongyang 2 years ago and told me categorically that fear is still the overriding factor of daily life there ! While it is true that a certain amount of private enterprise has sprung up (purely out of desperation), it can be taken away on the whim of a local official, particularly as it is still classed as illegal. I have read virtually every book on life in the North and (sadly), do not detect any sign of an internal uprising !
-
I suppose that 'mental' might not be the right word but given the extreme (and false) adoration he receives it is reasonable to assume that he is so far up his own arse that he has disappeared! The fear factor which affects 3 family generations is all consuming and has been going for so long that I fear that uprising is nigh on impossible ! I still reckon that the Chinese are the key to the solution and God forbid that Trump goes in 'all guns blazing' !
-
Kim Jong Un is totally mental, he believes his own publicity as did his predecessors and yes, he would rather see his country vapourised than relinquish power ! Different situation to the ones you mention and (with a heavy heart) it needs sorting! I mentioned before about my association with the South and desperately want to avoid a bloodbath but the longer it goes on, the more that the people suffer ! We ignore at our peril !
-
Yes, it could be unified and the vast majority of the poor souls who have had to endure a pitiful existence under the Kims would welcome it, but inevitably there will be a high price to pay. Many of the perpetrators of state sponsored torture and brainwashing would get their comeuppance and it will no doubt be as bloody as the demise of both Gaddaffi and Saddam Hussain ! Believe me, the adulation of their leaders which you see in public is a shocking facade and will crumble in days ! I just hope and pray that S. Korea and the Yanks are able to fend off any nuclear attack in it's infancy !
-
The fact that he (and his family) clearly wants out will be a factor so I guess that we will try and get the best price for someone who is less than committed to the cause ! I personally think that £12 mil or thereabouts would be quite acceptable !
-
Apparently he has had a 'very impressive first season' down here ! You wouldn't know it from some of the stick he gets on this website, would you ??
-
Herewith the end of his particular journey : http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-40335169 Very sad but inevitable, given the brutality of the Kim regime !

The Saintsweb end of season manual dictates : a) Hound out the existing manager ! b) Slag off the Director of Football in advance of his next managerial appointment ! c) Pronounce " totally underwhelmed" when the new guy is appointed ! d) Give him 3 games before declaring that he is out of his depth ! e) Tell the world that you will give him until Christmas ! f) Start again hounding out the manager !

Players a bit worried with where the club are heading !?

My son-in-law & grandson (wearing his Saints shirt) bumped into Fonte by the pool in Greece late last summer ! He made out that all was 'hunky dory' etc.. etc.. We all know how that ended -
Puel Sacked? - As Reported by Crook of Sh*t

TBF, I won't be shedding any tears if Claude goes but I think it is wrong to cherry pick all the bad bits and ignore everything else ! It seems now that 8th place was unwarranted, results against the top 6 disastrous, home games generally sh#t, cup final lost and everything else airbrushed from history ! Not sure that this perspective is realistic, surely there has to be some semblance of balance ? -
Corbyn's policy is very clear, first ban the British bomb ( which he could have control over ! ) and then speak to the despots around the world in the hope that they will listen carefully to his pleas for peace ! A principled strategy, how could it possibly fail
-
Hats off to them for getting Jackett
-
The only thing he achieved was in getting up Andrew Neil's nose which was not a great approach ! Timmy Mallett would have done a better job !
-
I suggest that you watch him on the Andrew Neil interview right now !
-
TBH, I get all of my political opinions from the Daily Mail so don't have too much thinking to do ! Sorry I missed the 'magic money tree' soundbite, thought I'd covered most of them without mentioning Diane Abbot, pal !
-
I would like to hear Trousers' opinion on this one
-
I thought that the Duckhunter was spot on.. ! Amber Rudd summed it up perfectly at the end when she pointed out that you had just witnessed the 'coalition of chaos' in action ! May did the right thing in avoiding this childish bunfight IMHO !

Brill, should go down well with the faithful, I reckon !!
-
(Unsurprisingly) most of the idiots on here do not appreciate that fact (I use the word fact, as it is statistically proven) ! He is a class player, no Messi for sure, but he would be immensely difficult for us to replace without spending a fortune ! All IMHO, of course !
-
Looks like I'm the only one to be disappointed that it's not Reading ! 2 of my kids were born there (lived in Wokingham at the time !) and a couple of good mates will be devastated, which is sad ! Hey ho, let's just stuff Huddersfield instead
-
Be ready to be quoted on that statement next time we play well and lose ! It's a bit like saying about many teams in the past "they were too good to go down" but they did ! I'm afraid that results over quality is the mantra of the day and bosses like Mourinho play it to perfection (his Man U side is one of the most boring for years yet they have won 2 trophies and qualified for the CL). Clearly the ideal situation is to play well and achieve a high league position but if you had to choose between one and the other surely you'd go for the placing ??
