  1. It was obvious these stories would surface with spurs hammering at city and us doing well with a trendy foreign hotshot young coach. As someone else mentioned the irritating thing is the assumption implied in the articles that Tottenham only need click their fingers as Poch would come running. Like Saints are inherently undesirable to the point of leprosy.
  2. It's hard to convey the magnitude of winning the Cup back then, to people under the age of 40. It was the Blue Riband event of the season, simply a huge event.
  3. No it is not - he's a big name who plays for the biggest club on the planet.
  4. Looks like the table will assume a more 'natural' order after the end of today. Us in about the right place, competing with Everton for lower end of the Euro spots. Still, not bad and at the start of the season would have been delighted to be told we'd be in this place at end of November.
  5. It does give me pleasure to see Spurs humiliated, although I like AVB. Might make their cocky fans bit less insufferable.

"Nope" and "Yep" are used to impart a weary, but cocky and sarcastic tone to a reply in any post.
  7. The problem is simply that Lambert's alternative - Danni O - is not firing on all cylinders. It hasn't gone to plan in that respect and this is the conundrum that needs a big decision come Jan. There is still time for DO to get a run in the side and prove us wrong but time is fast ebbing away, as is our tilt at the title. The scoring issue is not a problem when you have the 2nd tightest defence in Europe, but as soon as they get injuries or the keeper loses his head a bit, the paucity of 'goals for' come right back into the equation. On another note, I can also sort of now appreciate why Fergie et al didn't like their top players doing International Friendlies.
  8. I would tend to agree that if Lambert is tired and off form presently we should give DO a run. But if that is subsequently judged a failure then a parting of the ways would likely occur in Jan.
  9. But the fact that he's not earned a run in the team is determined by his performance in training and in matches.
  10. I agree he's a misfit here. The obligation now to clap fans is as crass as the one that says you shouldn't celebrate goals against your old club.
  11. It makes shocking viewing.
  12. His body language is tellingly ominous. Not settled, happy or on same wavelength as his peers. More robust than the gash, but it's not looking good.
  13. Why should players feel obliged to clap the fans? Maybe he hates it here and can't wait to get back to Italy, so doesn't see any point in taking part in all that fan-clapping twaddle.
  14. Whats the nature of Shaw's injury?
  15. Few sides will get such possession stats at Emirates
