To be fair, isn't a big part of the reason you should include relegation wage reduction clauses in players contracts so that you don't have to lay off the "regular" staff? If our wage bill is for example £60million a year, a 10% wage reduction upon relegation would leave us with a £6million saving which would easily cover all of our other staff.

Aren't people just assuming the conversation wasn't had? We've literally announced that Selles won't be staying on, we wouldn't have done that without informing him and in all honesty he was probably told in advance that his contract being extended was dependent on him keeping us up.
