Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg
Saint_clark replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
I'm confused - if we don't, do they give those blocks to home fans instead? In which case their reasoning for sticking away fans in the top tier - it's the only way to segregate home and away at St James - is utter bollocks. -
Never understand this thinking. That £5million wouldn't come close to getting someone in that would be any better than Djenepo, who has shown some real talent as well as graft at times and deserves a chance under a new manager to see if he flourishes - especially as he's only 24.

In all honesty I don't mind the odd one or two coming with their Saints mates as long as they keep themselves quiet. The ones that come in and give it the big one deserve a smack before being dragged out. -

Swore to myself years ago i'd never travel on a coach again but considering it for the away leg...does anyone know how comfortable the ones they use are? -

Managed to get it sorted, cheers for the heads up anyway! -
That will be based off his time in Scotland as he doesn't have enough game time here for it to have made a difference.

Don't suppose anyone that isn't going to the home leg is happy for me to borrow their supporter number? Young lad we're taking for the first time doesn't have one and I didn't realise you had to register for one before the 11th 🤦🏼♂️ -

Under Ralph didn't we regularly have half the season with relegation form and half the season with top half form? Until last season of course when we were just crap.
-
Of course. That's exactly the same as suggesting a couple of older players who haven't played as much the last two seasons and won't get a top club offer when their contract runs out, a youngster who wouldn't get the game time at a top 6 Prem club yet, a championship striker and a striker at a middling Ligue 1 club.
-
If we're going to try and muddle through the rest of the season without signing a centre forward - which I don't think would be an absolute disaster - then some out of contract options for the summer are; Youssoufa Moukoko - Dortmund, highly rated and sought after but only 18 and we have a rep for playing youngsters. Roberto Firmino - Liverpool, long shot but 31 now and could be good for us for 2 or 3 seasons. Ben Brereton Diaz - Blackburn, I know nothing about him really but I know we're linked to him a lot. Moussa Dembele - Lyon, good age at 26, 79 career goals in 220 games. Andrea Belotti - Roma, 29 so like Firmino only going to give us a couple of seasons, but 111 goals in 307 games is a very good record for our level.

If white smoke comes out the top then you have a pope.

Who cares what the Newcastle goalkeeper says.
-
Didn't end well for the last person claiming to be speaking the word of God.
-
Watching Conte in this game reminds me of how much I enjoyed us winning 3-2 there and shutting him up.
-
No cheap shots here, pride is absolutely a sin against god. It's trying to take credit for the lords work.
-
Good point, someone should remind him that pride is a sin.

Still get wound up seeing Newcastle doing so well knowing that they were on course to be relegated before the Saudis dumped tons and tons of cash into the clubs account.
-
Final score, Saints 0 - 1 Lewes. Almost 100 minutes played in total, both teams absolutely shattered dropping to the floor at FT. Saints deserved something from the game but showed a bit of naivety I think, giving away cheap fouls, making it easy for Lewes to time-waste (not standing near the keeper when she has the ball in her hands).
-
Really bad miss with 3 minutes to go, ball nodded down and hit on the half volley but not caught properly and well wide.

Did he stay off or come back out? -
Haven't watched much of the womens team but what i've seen of today, i'd spend 90% of training doing passing drills, specifically focussing on getting the power behind the passes right. So many underhit passes.
-
Playacting and timewasting has even made its way down to the Womens Championship, Lewes spending a lot of time on the floor.
-
Started the second half well, brilliant run from midfield and some neat passing around the edge of the box led to a one-on-one shot forcing a good save.
-
Saints passing is falling apart now.
