I love the fact that Green is a rip off on a free

Unless renewals next season go on the same card, of course.

And that ladies and gents, is exactly why he hasn't done interviews in English. The press would have crucified him and Cortese if he'd stumbled over his words like that on Match of the Day.
-
What if they had played their league game on the saturday and still lost? Would we have succeeded in staying up with a hard fought point, or would it still have been down to their failure? The fact is that once we had all played the same amount of games, we were mathematically safe. WE got ourselves those points. WE succeeded.
-
Depends what you mean by that doesn't it. If you're on about succeeding United style then yes. But if you're on about getting to where WBA are for example, then don't forget that after beating us 3-0 they went and lost 4-0 to Norwich. Not exactly doing it week-in, week-out. The fact of this league is that there are teams in the top half of the table who have still lost more games than they have won. If we had a season where we won more games than we lost - now that would truly be a remarkable achievement.

I never said he was, and I don't think we would have to break the bank. I would only be happy about signing him for £4-6million and on a lot lower wages than has been reported. Also, he didn't take Blackburn down, he left them well before the end of the season.
-
Samba was excellent at Blackburn. He's certainly better than any of our CBs.
-
Players I'd be happy if we signed from the relegated clubs; Maloney, Kone, McManaman, Samba. Apart from that maybe take a chance on Taarabt and Alex Pearce, who I feel haven't fulfilled their potential. For those saying we don't need players in Maloneys position...we play 3 AMs basically, and have Ramirez, Lallana, Davis, Puncheon and Rodriguez who challenge for them. Beyond them it's the likes of De Ridder. I can't see us going for anyone of the relegated players though, doesn't seem like Pochettinos style for some reason.

Saints come 5th in Public Transport League Table

Sunderland was decent, free park and ride for 2 hours before and after kick off. -
Bless, two Pompey fans have voted "no" in the poll

Glasgow is trolling.

But the direction came from the Chairman. It didn't come from the Liebherr trust, or even Markus himself when he were still with us. By all accounts he actually had very little to do with the running of the club.
-
Well unless you're saying Cortese has lied on camera, yes we do know it's happened. And I'm not saying they'd go along with it but if they're presented a story like this as fact from someone they believe to be trustworthy, then of course they're going to go public with it.
-
Completely missed that tweet. Pairing that with a post from earlier on about Les Reed leaving, is the thinking that he is the source?
-
I have no idea. But it's an alternative theory that isn't exactly beyond the realms of possibility as we know it's happened before.
-
I agree, but given the fact that Cortese has been an undisputable success for Saints I would react to him being replaced with trepidation rather than optimism. "Apparently" they've met? And if it's true do we know what circumstances they met under?
-
I have no idea. Given the evidence of everything that has happened since he came into the club - the things he's said, the rumours that have come out and been quashed, and the promises he's made, kept, and have yet to be fulfulled - I can't see it being true that he's going to walk away.
-
I think people are getting ahead of themselves. It's not like the BBC hasn't got anything wrong before, has it. In fact I'm pretty sure I remember it being reported on there when the Liebherrs were supposed to be selling up in League One.
-
Fair enough, that's cleared it up. Apologies. I'd still be happier if Cortese stayed. With chairmen we have no idea what factors played a part in their success/failure at other clubs.
-
No revelations as of yet, it's still only rumoured. How many times over the last few years have we been told the Liebherrs are looking to sell, that people want to leave, only for it to not happen? I seriously doubt that after everything he's said Cortese is going to walk away, so it wouldn't surprise me if this is the same group that he spoke about before that are trying to discredit the club. It's pretty convenient timing, coming out when it won't have a detrimental affect on the playing side of things.
-
It is pretty difficult to understand just what the hell you're saying, to be honest.

If he'd scored that golden opportunity in the first half, this thread would not have been started.
