  1. I heard he was about to sign but Lowe vetoed it. Said he was too similar to Telfer. [sorry the clock on my PC is wrong for some reason....]
  2. Because you cannot see the question behind the answer, I am not sure how conclusive it is. If he was asked "Are you happy at Celtic, do you want to leave?", he gave the right answer. Until a price has been agreed between the clubs whether he is happy or not is irrelevant. If we fail to agree a price then he's come out of it well. If we do agree a price, he's been sold rather than selling himself. I don't think we'll agree a price though - I just don't think you can read too much into one context-less comment.
  3. FYI, it's "lets" - not "let's" (that's a type of salad leaf).
  4. Alpine, you made me laugh out loud. You can spot people with young children! Everyone knows that Percy is a really useful engine - and now he's got a new boiler he doesn't need the Welsh coal anymore. Sleep tight
  5. I bet being on a ship with them was a barrel of laughs.... "I've been saying since we've left Southampton we're doomed" "That Captain Smith doesn't know what he's doing" "We'd go faster if this was welsh coal" "We're going to sink, I tells you" "We need to sign more look outs"
  6. anyone else having issues with Saints Player? For me it keeps dropping off air and I need to click Play to get it running again.
  7. Don't be so precious. It wasn't aimed at you. Yes it's a fact that head injuries, just like any other injury, can end the career of a footballer. But the fact is that none of us know the case, nor have the training to pass judgement - yet still we have comments writing him off. If Dan Seabourne had been told he couldn't ever play again (by qualified doctors, i.e. not you, not me, not anyone on this board)then I severely doubt he'd be back (or looking to come back) to training again. My second comment was an observation that if he'd split the front of his head open (i.e. where most headers would impact), I'd have thought that would be less career threatening than damaging say the base of the skull.
  8. Unless I am mistaken, none of the posters on here are medically trained so most of the analysis is pseudo medical nonsense. Total disclosure, neither do I, but I'd have thought it really depends on whereabouts on the skull the impact occurred.
  9. James is a great keeper - but like any keeper he makes mistakes too (unless you are denying his nickname is "Calamity")?
  10. http://www.footballacademytalk.com/football-academy-revolution-or-disaster-the-new-fa-elite-player-performance-plan-eppp/ Hence why you want the player on a pro contract ahead of these rules.
  11. I'd offer Arsenal first refusal on Luke Shaw in exchange for Alex OC coming back on loan in January. Regardless of whether we played hardball with them over Alex's transfer, they won't cut their nose off to spite their face. If and when Luke Shaw is ready for a move perhaps we'll be in the Premiership and therefore a) in a position to get a better price and b) offer him a reason to stay. Luke may be a good prospect but history is littered with prospects that didn't make it through injury or application - Jamie White for example). We should use whatever leverage we have to ensure we get promotion this season.
  12. I've heard that that all the financial backing of the club has been withdrawn and the Liebherr's are selling up. (Source = Crab Lungs)
  13. Must be an accurate impersonation then!
  14. Is Parr the blonde bloke - no. 4(?)? If so I think he had the beating of Richardson for pace. He certainly worried him a few times with diagonal runs. That said, they had no end product and Richardson dealt with him and snuffed out the threat. I'm in no way saying that Richardson had a bad game, he didn't, he's been great this season (especially as he wasn't all that last season when coming back from injury). However, for me, Morgan was the outstanding performer yesterday.
  15. Can't agree about Richardson, I thought he struggled with the pace of their left back and they double teamed him on crosses (clearly knowing his assist rate). That said, the one time he did manage to get past his man - cracking cross, 2 - 0. For me though, Morgan was outstanding. Grit, sensible use of the ball. Ran the game, especially in the second half. Proves the Morgan doubters know **** all (but I think they've moved onto Guly now...).
  16. Errmmm no. When you book online there are servers to pay for, and then all the other costs are the same (stuffing costs, card charges, postage etc.). How it can be transparent when it's hidden in the ticket price I don't know?
  17. The clue is in the bold first paragraph: "Excessive" fees for using a debit or credit card to buy items such as travel or cinema tickets will be banned by the end of 2012, under government plans." A booking fee to cover the cost of executing the transaction is perfectly legal and will remain so. You can have an argument about how much a booking fee should be, but there's no law that prevents you setting it at whatever level you want. Personally I think £3 is appropriate with the cost of handling the call, covering the cost of the credit card charges, P&P etc. (because it's not just the 5 minutes to take the call, and a first class stamp - there are all the overheads, out-sourcers etc. to consider). I really don't get why people get so uppity about the booking fee. It's transparent, and I'd much prefer that to it being hidden in price of the ticket. You also broadly pay for what you use; if I book 10 tickets, it's the same booking fee as booking one. But this is Generation Y - they always want something for 'free'
  18. This applies for charges levied on credit card payments - the booking fee is still a valid charge per transaction for the provision of the booking service.
  19. If the money on offer now was around in MLT's day I am sure he'd have gone. I think Matt's loyalty was in part due to him not wanting to move too far from home, rather than inate loyalty to Saints. Some people don't like football but have a god given talent. Is Wayne one of them?
  20. The best way to combat nerves is to jump right back on the horse. I've always thought KD was a better option despite some of the lunatics backing him on limited evidence. However, just because KD is a better option doesn't mean that BB isn't a good back up, or won't develop into a number 1 at some point. Those who have short memories forget that Kelvin Davis was once the "worse keeper to wear a Saints shirt" (remember his attempt to shepherd the ball behind vs. QPR(?)? BB wouldn't be in the squad if he didn't have some quality and one bad day at the office doesn't mean his career is over with us.
  21. Both are better going forward than they are defensively and that results in poor positioning. Danny 'Sorry' Fox attempts the cross field pass too much (and with too little success) for my liking - whilst Harding is more of a sub-20 yd pass player (hence why he works better with Lallana). However, Danny Fox delivers a great cross - far more consistently than Harding - and this is very apparent on corners. Harding's corners are poor, very often failing to clear the first man, or over hit. Ideally I'd like them to be a hybrid.
  22. To quote the great David Attenborough: "Here in the gloom we see the Alpine_Saint in its natural habitat...."
  23. Poor guy. Bad day at the office - pity he can't go home early, but it's not an option. Hang in there for the rest of the 90.
  24. Absolutely agree. Come to think of it we don't have many blacks at SMS either - we should get a good old racist chant going next week when BLACKpool come here. The police are damned if they do, damned if they don't on this and, if you really want someone to blame, blame the fence rattlers - the level of policing is based on cause and effect.
  25. Doubtless we've got to improve iur away form. Doubtless we miss Lambert and Chaplow. But, Saints have always struggled against sides in the bottom 3 (look at last season) whilst winning against more rated opposition. Fix it, but keep the faith.
