Alresford Also famous for steam trains and watercress and for where the fit blonde bird who came second on The Apprentice was living.

I use Newsnow as my first port of call followed by here for follow up etc (although you do get the odd story about TNS/St Mirren/St Helens) Hardly ever the OS but it does seem to be improving of late

My link must be broken - I got Michelle McManus with a marrow!!!
-
When he got Reading promoted from Div 3 in 01/03 they amassed 84 points. Change a draw into a win and we would make the play offs. Good record at this level.
-
He'll do for me - especially when compared to Portaloo/Wotte/Gray/Wigley etc. He's no Strachan but will definitely do for me.

Hopefully without a sponsor's logo to fade/peel off ala Leicester as we're loaded now and won't need the money!
-
Keep at least 2 - Bart + one of the others. Can't see KD being fit 100% of the time and Bart is a little injury prone. Need some deep(ish) cover for the No1 shirt.

That should be "squat". Mind you your ground would probably only be accepted as one by the most hard up of homeless people!

Absolute legend - even had a B&HAFC fan at work yesterday gloating that he was going to WHU! MLT for "senior" role by the end of the week? In the words of Yazz - "The only way is up"

The way I understand it is that the financial due diligence has been done - looked at the books etc and they match what MF said. They are now undertaking the legal due diligence which is checking that we legally own what we said we owned - players, stadium, Staplewood etc.

And relax... (for about 17 days anyway until no more news is heard from SMS about Pinnacle completing the deal)
-
Marc Jackson consortium has moved to due diligence.

I would have thought Matt could afford somewhere a bit posher for a holiday than a car park in Isleworth - he's just been on Soccer AM. Saving money to put in to the Pinnacle bid? -
According to the echo "A statement was issued to the stock exchange around lunchtime, about a termination of talks. However this statement made it clear that shares in Saints' parent company Southampton Leisure Holdings is not in an offer period. The statement made it clear though that it did not affect the ongoing discussions involving the sale of the football club. " No need for panic - yet!

In my mind it goes back further than Hoddle/Richards. Spurs used to use the Transfer Tribunal for out of contract players (pre-bosman) and play serious hardball. I recall the saga over Ruddock - we wanted £1m + (?) they offered some derisory amount, about £250k and the tribunal settled on about £500k. Don't think it was just with us - other clubs suffered as well. But I think other posters got it about right - it's like the Saints/AFCB situation - the rivalry is all from one side.

Hats off to all of you above who can take the positive angle on this. Me - I feel like ****!

If they "mis-judged" the position regarding holding company etc then quite possibly - they would be reasonably expected to know the rules and regulations they are obliged to abide by. By using the future value argument, I would imagine that this would only apply to the creditors e.g. Barclays & Norwich Union soon to be Aviva and any other bugger who we owe money to. The only problem that it would either be against the directors & therefore their personal wealth/assets or, if they have purchased Directors & Officers Liability cover, the relevant insurer. Lowe had/has an insurance background (I have seen Jubilee Motor Policies at Lloyds on a list of other directorships for the tosser and they are pretty crap as well) I would expect him/the club to arrange D&O cover but bearing in mind his usual "I can do no wrong" attitude he probably thinks he is exempt from such things. Sorry but as I have never paid the £5 this will be my last post of the day but as I feel a shed load of beer calling to assuage my pain thats probably not be a bad thing. One last comment - as long as we have a club next year I really don't give a flying **** about Lowe, Tory Boy Mawhinney or any of the other ******s that have contributed to the downfall of this essential part of me - SFC. Good night and God bless. COYR

Athought from the insurance world. If a director or officer of a club acts negligently then he/she could become liable for a personal claim for damages incurred because of the said negligence. Depending on the definition of Damages used, this couold include mental anguish and as supporters we have suffered this more than most. Class Action anyone?

But this is his job. He is essentially a second hand car (club) salesman and is trying to get the best possible price for the club. As I understand it, he (Begbie Traynors) has been appointed by the creditors to act on their behalf and secure as much money as possible to offset the debts as possible. A Championship Club is worth more than a League 1 Club and one hell of a lot more than a League 1 Club starting the season on -10 points. Let him carry on in my opinion - he seems to be the most eloquent person I have heard speaking "from" the club in a long time.

Le tissier on solent: says Lowe must accept some of the blame.
Saintleigh replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
My view, fwiw (and I know it has all been said before but I am going to put it anyway), the downfall can be put fairly and squarely at the failure to invest in the summer of 2002. Cup finalists, decent league finish and UEFA qualification - if that isn't an ideal time to invest then I don't know what is. This shortsightedness also resulted in WGS leaving. And who's decision/fault was that - LOWE, LOWE and LOWE'S. No one else's - he was/is an autocratic idiot who wouldn't accept anybody's view but his own and was always right. Say what you like but you will not change my view on that. I lay the blame of (likely) League 1 football at his door without a doubt. He has been the downfall of this club and although I believe we will survive the hurt that man has imposed on many decent football loving fan's is outrageous and unforgiveable. You can blame Wilde, Crouch etc but the foundations of this disastrous failure of the club I love were laid by Lowe. -
breaking sky sports news - independent enquiry into accounts
Saintleigh replied to shurlock's topic in The Saints
Spot on. FL hope we get relegated (soon) then make a decision to hit us with 10 point deduction this season anyway due to the accounts showing that the only real income stream to the PLC was the football activities (?) of SFC. That way all other clubs are, at least partially, satisfied with the decision and we start next season on 0 points. In their eyes everyone's a winner: - No legal action from other clubs - We were down anyway so -10 this year is better than -10 next. Personally I wish they had made a decision today one way or the other rather than the usual prevaricating - at least we would know where we stand instead of the continual guessing and ifs & buts. -
Sorry - that wasn't my sweepstake entry but breaking news on SSN
-
The decision is no decision - a forensic enquiry onto our accounting. In other words they hope we get relegated and then they have a nothing decision to make!
