  1. IF they maintain their current levels of form and fitness then why should they NOT be good enough? IMHO Fonte was the player I thought would be most out of his depth this season, but he is improving every week. Peachy tells us that Shaw is the new Bale (maybe possibly) well, IF he gets better with more games (and stays fit) who would you replace him with? Yoshida is a crucial part of the style we now play and has shown glimpses. Fact is that we clearly need cover, BUT it has taken this team 10 or so matches to "gel" (Something QPR have failed woefully to do) Would you REALLY advocate replacing all FOUR of our defenders in January as you imply? And who with? Luckily as I don't play FM12 I have no idea on who would be better than we have in the style we play at a price that we can afford. All I know is that we DO need cover and I believe that will come in the shape of a player that is better than what we have. Don't think we will be buying 4 though. That would be a team dynamic disaster
  2. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20486801 Might also have something to do with it
  3. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2238925/Simon-Jordan-pondered-Portsmouth-buy--Charles-Sale.html So they had a real bidder with a consortium with funds and experience of running an FL Club, who while not being the wealthiest bunny on the farm would have at least passed the FAPPT But they bowed to the fans consortium.. Nope never saw that coming. Of course the PDT was the only hope
  4. They shafted the guys who got them off the winding up petition from HMRC Figures
  5. .Well, on film anyway. I know the books have been around a while longer. But what is everyone's favourites? Best Bond Daniel Craig with Timothy Dalton a close second behind him in the race to be as good as Connery was. Thing is that Dalton could actually ACT. Brosnan was OK,but you have to give huge credit to Daniel for the reboot when it was becoming a tired franchise. Craig could be one film away from overtaking Connery Best film Skyfall. Casino Royale (not Woody Allen's version although, as a baddie...?) a close second Not simply for the plot/action but because it takes the character forwards for the first time since (strangely) George Lazenby. George got absolutely pasted (rightly so) BUT OHMSS was actually a damned good Bond film. May just be good enough to pull in some Oscars for the first time in ages (possibly even Dame Judy anyone?) Best baddie Blofeld. "So Mr Bond", and of course an honorable mention to Christopher Lee Best car The DB5 (and it's reappearance in Skyfall and the M joke while she was a passenger) Sexiest Bond girl (goody or villain) Barbara Bach, with a special mention to Sophie Marceau as Elektra King and her Garotte in Istanbul in Never say Never, and yeah Jane Seymour stirred like no other (being old but not having been at THAT age for Ursula Undress or Pussy Galore but hey, c'mon though, STILL the best ever movie character name) Best theme tune The Duran Brothers deserve a mention in dispatches with Wings & Carly Simon close behind. But how anybody can vote for anyone other than Dame Shirley Over to the rest of you....
  6. Saw them on their last tour in Budapest All I can say is no matter what the price, IF you get the chance of a ticket.... See them. That is all
  7. Back to the problems that have now surfaced after the Spurs WHU game.... Perhaps that Society of Lawyers thingy had a fair point. Can't condone in any way what the WHU fans did, but, after all the publicity the original questions raised created I think that while Outrage may be appropriate, Shock may not be the right word. More of a "well everyone else saw that coming" would be a better angle on the news reports. Anyway Laws is an idiot and should get fired and WHU should be in real trouble. And the Spurs fans and groups that felt the issue should not have been questioned ALSO need to take a look at themselves. There is a real danger this could become a regular (and unnecessary) offensive occurence #rodforownback and think this may run for a while yet
  8. Game over. Southampton are now officially almost 3 x the size of pcfc Southampton FC ‏@officialsaints A big hello to @Frankmkm, who just became our 60,000th follower. Thanks for your support, everyone! #saintsfc Massive club
  9. OMG The preceding pages lambasting Neil Allen made me wonder as to where I could have come across such an incompetent, inaccurate Journalist. So I have been googling and have found Video evidence of his previous career before joining the snooze http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=WBvbzQfMNik Oh and in other news, what ever happened to Joe Cala? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2238474/Poseidon-Undersea-Resort-Luxury-hotel-sea.html
  10. I think we will also start to see that from JRod (no not at a Messi level of course), and there were signs yesterday that Punch (who let's face it WE never saw as a solution WITH PACE) and of course Gaston can do it But he (JRod) does have pace (not lightning but compared to SRL it is) but he also looks to have a footballing brain and will improve It has also helped that Punch is not running into blind alleys any more
  11. that reads better
  12. Yes CEC. However Clyne for all his young years APPEARS to have grey matter between his ears in a way that Chicken George, Terry Curran for example never had, and as said on this thread - it is the accusation that is most often made against our own ex Theo. On the Gaston performance On the very few Occassions that he actually appeared in a saints shirt, Charlie George was often said to be "thinking one move ahead of the rest of the team" - could see that with Gaston's early games to an extent. With him being out injured, it has not ONLY been him that needed to get up to speed and match fit, the rest of the players really needed more time on pitch with him to understand what he sees. The use of intelligence to move the Ball at Pace, Create Space and then (when needed) use the pace of Clyne and others to good effect needs one other ingredient - confidence. As others have said - a firing on all cylinders Barcelona are unstoppable, not because they are simply full of PACE. They simply move the ball fast so fast that by the time a pacy defender gets to the player with the ball it has gone again
  13. Next season of course
  14. Back when we were getting relegated we got torn to shreds by Man Ure in an FA Cup game. I made the point then and I stick with it today. It is NOT about simply PACE. Let's face it Johnno Quick has pace as did George Lawrence. It is about SPEED of THOUGHT as well as pace - it is about how fast the BALL is MOVED around. When the ball is pinging around accurately (AND being controlled) you can beat anyone Certainly before QPR my major issue with Puncheon was that as soon as he got into the oppo half he seemed to freeze and take forever to release the ball or see a pass. Maybe because we no longer sit so deep he has easier passiing options up there now BUT Pace alone is not enough. Oh and don't take my word for it, Read "I am The Secret Footballer" - get someone to buy it for you for Xmas. has a whole chapter on this
  15. Apparently nobody should go because they are Corporate Sell Outs....... Meanwhile here is something that explains why Dubai is so farked up. Stone Roses are on 21st Feb here. So Dubai JAZZ festival have just announced their Headline Act for (The JAZZ Festival) on 21st Feb Deep Purple. Yep, that is soooooooooo Dubai
  16. I think you are all being very unfair on the bestest. It is clear from that photo that they clearly sold out the entire Away End. It would have been full but the phew discovered that the Ricoh has really far more exciting attractions to visit and look at, such as Pizza Hut
  17. Wow, finished working at the golf, leapt into a taxi who hit 140kph on the way to the pub where I caught the second half. Really don't know which was more unbelievable, Rory's amazing 5 consecutive Birdies to win the golf, or the way we played football. Amazing day, amazing performance from Saints all across the pitch
  18. So PKF are getting 9k a day. So in a month they earn $279k. Jlo did a 90 minute show tonight for $500k. I know which gave me a bulge in the pants Perhaps the PDT should put TCWTB on stage in a Leotard? meh OK maybe it's worth paying them 500k NOT to
  19. Just wanted to pop on here and say two words after watching her phwaoaaaaaar gig tonight that FMDP dragged me to Jennifer Lopez pics will follow
  20. Just wanted to stop by on my way to see JLo and say Owwwwww my farking feet hurt but Wow, well done Luke What a shame a Dubai based company could not see the value and history in the skates to buy them. (You nutjobs owe me 20 beers each for talking them out of it and sending them Ooop north - see, my golf contacts are useful occasionally as in "you're thinking of WHAT? no way no history why not look at X Y or Z clubs instead") Phew close call
  21. Woo HOO! Yay! Made it on the invite list Where & When is the awards dinner? Do I need to rent a Tux?
  22. It would be very entertaining IF the bidders that TB Ignored turned up in Court on 14th Dec and declared what THEY would have paid for the ground IF ONLY TB had opened a dialogue with them. Especially considering they proved funds of over 6 mil
  23. Oh and anyway enough of the p1ss taking Nick. I trust you are aware of the actual TITLE of the golf this weekend? I don't know of many other posters as important as wot I am to actually have a Golf Tournament named after them.
  24. Cool. Lee told me to say thanks for letting his lot have Billy Sharp on loan. (Oh and guys - NEVER sit down with Miguel to drink Rioja after 6 pints of free beer the hangover REALLY isn't worth it) I have to wear Blue Shirt & Black Trousers this weekend but I PROMISE to find a way to have Red & White on me somewhere when I wave at you from Sky Sports Sunday Afternoon before the game starts Oh and I DO have some dirt about the Ryder Cup Players party but will save that for a rainy day
  25. This one always works for us
