Driving from the UK to Italy in August....Travel Tips Sought
dubai_phil replied to trousers's topic in The Lounge
Oh and drink Ratafia, and Prosecco, avoid cheap Pecorino Cheese in the Supermarket buy the proper mature stuff. DON'T laugh outloud at the name of the big supermarket chain over there (Conad's) Red Peroni is better than the chavy blue stuff and a bottle of 1.50 Euro Sicilian Wine is absolutely fine for lunch with bread Proscuitto & cheese (hope your hotel has a mini bar fridge you can use) -
Driving from the UK to Italy in August....Travel Tips Sought

Did 3,700+kms across Italy just couple of weeks back for our hols. Loved it. Tolls were not as bad as I feared, TIP have a syetem organised BEFORE you hit the toll roads where you put the ticket AND the cash. A1 down the centre of Otaly was the busiest we saw lots of trucks & only 2 lanes everything else was heaven to drive. One point I noted, the Italians kindly put up a sign on the autoroute telling you it is controlled by radar normally means a trap in 1km. They were pretty easy to spot in the countryside big box by the side of the road. Nearer towns they had system tudor which was on the overhead gantries. I found that the gas stations love to fill your car for you - and charge you 50c extra per litre so look for self serve pumps (watch your fingers though - ouch!) also did not see a great variation between MWay & local gas prices. AVOID the SPECIAL OFFER wine in the Service stations it is gross. Oh and don't expect to get anything nutritious to eat on the Mway, (OR Maps) seems the service stations only exist to sell Plastic Toys & Biscuits. Oh and seriously? Leave the GPS off as much as possible and make sure you have PROPER maps found it much easier when we only used the GPS to double check our map position (Oh and sort out a data roaming package before you travel but you probably know that) On the way down you have to do Siena or Florence (I preferred Siena less mad crowds.) Oh and when you look at the map th6th Juneere is a coast road to Rome - the A12 becomes the E80. DON'T use it. It is OK to Grosetto but after that is a succession of single carriageway and roadworks. a nightmare of trucks & farm vehicles at an average speed of 50kph when we came up it on 6th June. The scenery is not worth it either MUCH prettier on the A1 (unless you head into the wilds of the Tuscan country roads then you'll take weeks to get anywhere round all the wobbly bits!) Farking LOVED the driving over there (and we stayed out of all the City Centres - parked & used Metro in Rome. Oh and DON'T be an idiot in Rome - leave EVERYTHING at home except enough cash for the day (a small amount in EVERY pocket) and a point & shoot camera. Despite telling our mate he took his wallet. He never even made it into Rome before he lost EVERYTHING When he went to report it to the Police he reckoned over 150 people in the queue took him 3 hours. Motto - LEAVE IT ALL behind locked up safe -

http://www.bullionstreet.com/news/india-remains-hot-destination-for-dubai-gold/766 Lots of strange laws and taxes in India on Gold means Dubai built a huge Gold Trade. Bullion is sent in to India and worked, shipped back to Dubai then sold here to be "imported" by numerous and nefarious means back into India. (They prefer 24ct, very hard to find 9ct here)

You missed the point. Rangers THOUGHT they would sail through a vote and keep their SPL place. The OTHER SPL clubs have faced a groundswell of FAN opnion based on the issue of SPORTING INTEGRITY. There is one hell of a similarity there - the cheats stole 40mil from the taxman and spent 130 million THEY DID NOT HAVE to outperform their Sporting Competitors. Now IF the ST holders at other L1 clubs told their teams THEY would refuse to attend games and buy ST's IF the cheats were allowed to stay in L1 with no sanctions, I'd have some respect for them. But down here I still think that the cheats plan some last minute start of season financial blackmail, and still think the FL/L1 clubs would cave in rather than have one less home game in the coming season, ESPECIALLY as they would have done all their financial planning. Cheats would know that a week before the FL could not "un-relegate" clubs all the way down the leagues as they would be at a competitive disadvantage having planned for a lower league. Not saying they WILL do this, but I know from all the information we can see that this is the only possible route to take if I was trying to save them

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/rangers/9354466/Rangers-rejected-from-SPL-after-Aberdeen-become-fifth-club-to-oppose-newcos-application.html Scottish Football fans (and I never thought I would say this) I salute you. Now FL there is a precedent (IF they all hold their nerve up there)

The 41 Year old Virgin who knocked up Sarah Marshall & felt Superbad about it. (No hoenstly THAT is the title) Well, what to say, trying to make a movie that takes the p1ss out of movies that took the p1ss probably wasn't the greatest idea ever. It has jokes that are beyond bad taste into the realm of risible and keeps going with them. OK so "Anal McLuvin" is funny and itgoes off tangent to pay some homage to Scoot Pilgrim there, and sort of the impressions of Seth & the guys aren't totally dreadful, but it truly is a movie that makes you think WTF. It has a few LOL moments and a couple of guffaws but the ONLY thing worth watching in the movie is the whole Verizon Ad p1ss take. Can you hear me now? The punchline to that AFTER the movie had finished was a classic and was possibly worth watching the whole damned thing for. Trouble is, unless you have seen the Verizon Ad in the US it ain't gonna make much sense. So as a review it gets a risible 1/10. (But maybe worthwhile if you have the lads round after a load of beers) The Verizon joke (expats) only rating leapt up to a 4/10 I'm actually still smirking at that now

The players will not be the ones t hat killed them The idiots with the quality not quantity did that

Don't panic. Thanks to the amendment removing Chinnys exclusivity and allowing bids in the next 28 days, people simply were able to vote for WHAT WAS ON THE TABLE With the amendments it was a no brainer. Also shows Chinny REALLY doesn't want the club as he allowed the clause to be removed HOPING someone else will step in. So now it is PST or bust for the creditors

K thx but popped up twice yesterday on feeds and couple of guys in the pub mentioned it before the England game. Moi Sue? You must be mistaking me for EoA..... Who was last seen trying to climb a 6ft safety fence in order to get home last night - he's probably still there this morning
-
Who? Apparently all over Twitter earlier statement of intent & all that for 6 mil
-
One helluva big assumption there tho Gemmel. The players on contracts Next trick wait as long as they can form newco THEN refuse to transfer the player contracts. BUT of course they do that ONLY 2 days before the new season starts..... Leaves the FL screwed kick them out (no Golden Share) their members lose a match in L1 which could be financial nightmare for them Long way to go
-
So long & thanks for all the fish

Time for a Sunday ROFL. So they need players for next season. Obviously as we all know, the place to find them is You Tube So on behalf of PTS I submit our prime candidates to fill their squad next season. After all the original article in the Telegraph states the A-League is where L1 players go to retire Enjoy Some quality keepers in there for them.....
-
Dear appy. Want to know what to do with them? Here's an idea. Why not try to get Kanu to play in goal? he's obviously not up to running around now his Zimmerframe gets in the way

Think TB missed a money earning trick this weekend. Shouldda let the poor festival goers park up on the pitch for 50 quid a pop and shuttled them down to the IOW ferries

Nah it's a mate who's getting to meet him not moi. Mind you, gave EoA some tips on schmoozing last night. Left him in the company of some blonde in the bar around 2am. I'm sure he'll be full of it later today (so to speak) if he ever wakes up -
Oh so FINALLY the Torygraph has almost gone into print. Not bad seeing as the have had the link to the PTS thread since February
-
Oh I would just like to add. Eric is still in the bar schmoozing with the band & FMDP fully approves of.......................
-
OK so this lot were in town tonight. I thought I only knew one of their songs. Went with FMDP & EoA. it was gonna be a zoo trying to get a taxi after so we went to the bar. And stone me, the band came in. What a farking great bunch of lads. So a big shout out to Troy and the lads. And obviously an early alarm call to get Amy out of my room in time for her flight to Beirut tomorrow They finish their gig in Russia later this week, BUT if they pop up on your radar in the UK and you like Rock, get to see them. bloody great show and great bunch of lads

This thread has provided many rofl images over the years. The one I'm struggling with these days is this demented looking Dude with unkemp hair (he doesn't have time in the mornings 'cos he wakes up and comes straight on here) sitting on a Commuter train into London every morning furiously tapping away on his smartfone mumbling PKF TB FL CVA while everyone in the rammed carriage tries to avoid sitting next to him

FWIW my mate has to drive one of the big names. If he's gonna be trapped in his wagon with him for hours hope he remembered to get a CD for him to sign for me while they're waiting
