We do NOT need Whickham. We have Sam Gallagher who by next season will be as good as Connor is now (apart from the goals scored but in GS mode would probably have as good or better a goals per start ratio). Behind him it looks like we will have McQueen coming through as back up next year. What we need is a something between SRL & JRod and Messi - say Dani Osvaldo, but OBVIOUSLY after a Brain Transplant, an Injection of Motivation and Desire, or simply just a similar striker with an IQ of more than 6. Connor is NOT that.

An obvious and fair opinion..... But as the pundit on TV said, playing striker is not just about getting in the goal scoring positions, it is about knowing "when to come short" when to drop deep", how to shield the ball better in a particular situation while support arrives. All of which comes with game time. Sam is at least one season away from becoming "experienced" to play effectively in attack for us. The game time he is getting now (and we keep winning when he starts ) is vital to his (and our) long term future. He is without a doubt a very good talent. He's 18 ffs. Think back to AL at that age..... Hell think back to the AL of early last season! Sam will become at worst a good PL squad back up player, IMHO he will be more than that in 2/3 years IF he avoids serious injury

He has no love for anything other than himself (IMHO from having dealt with so many people like him in so many countries over many years). His ambition was the club's ambition obviously, the better the club got the more it (and he) was worth. He won't have an intention of coming back. It's just a business opportunity now. From my experience people like that may have earnt 2mil a year but they will feel they left anything from 5 or 20 mil lump sum behind when they left. Again IMHO as an example Rupert & Andrew Cowen would feel differently, IMHO they would feel they had unfinished business here having at least laid some of the foundations for our current success, which is fair enough (and will never happen of course). Vindication is a different motivation from "extreme wealth" He (possibly) had someone lined up to pay 100, 150, 200, 250mil or whatever to buy us and he would have had a (perfectly legal & legitimate) deal inside that. And of course you can do a hostile takeover of a private company. You just have to make the owners want to sell. In the old days a Horse's head would have worked, these days there are perfectly "not illegal" ways to do that.

Of course those rumours are true. It has been discussed ad nauseum on here that NC was trying to sell the club and it was not just for altruistic reasons, he wanted to pocket a bucket of wonga. The family did not want to sell, some sh1t went down (discussed ad nauseum) and NC was asked to be resigned - this does not mean any potential buyer will have given up. Of COURSE NC's contacts want to destabilise the club/board. They still see a business opportunity and want to get let's call it a Hostile Takeover underway. Personally if I was NC I would be livid that the Annual figures came out as that shows "me" up in a very bad light and reduces my chances of becoming Chairman of Juve or AC Milan or whatever HIS dream is next

An odd one popped up on TV tonight. 3 hours long. Cloud Atlas. Guess it was released on DVD & Blue Ray so most would have seen it. It is a movie I could not decide was utter ****e or a work of genius. It has scenes set in the 1840's mixed up with a couple of differing post apocalypse timelines. It has a heck of a cast and the different bits seem to be produced or Directed by different people giving them very different feels. The concept is how things repeat through differing lives and a killer becomes a hero or the coward a hero. Perhaps the believing it to be ****e comes from some un-intelligible accents in the after the world has ended section and the hang on isn't she the Korean girl when spotting a wife of a slave trader with Ginger hair in the 1800's section. Tom Hanks does a damned good impression of someone with a Russell Crowe haircut in the late section and a wonderfully overacted murdering Doctor. I found it engrossing, certainly original, loved the mad Solyent Green cries of old Mr Cavendish and then the homage to the same later. Yeah on balance I think it could go down as an epic. Once I work out what the fook it was all about. Sci Fi movies with Spaceships & Cowboys in them NEED to star Daniel Craig FFS and should they REALLY have Gay 1930's English toff's having love scenes? Yeah enjoyed it - weird

What a marvellously entertaining last 15 minutes or so. Not the football but both sets of fans making the atmosphere sound almost "Cup Finalesque" with the Engerlund & Hymns & Arias banter & the scarfing. And then yet another comedy goal. In a way it's a damn shame we had so many of those against us earlier in the year and are now getting our share back when it means sod all but hey ho at least after a turgid game that almost cried out for a Golf story on the match thread I head down to dinner with a smirk on my face. Having a smirk at Corky, he's basically got the freedom to play the AL role is playing well but looks like a fish out of water in the box, prob had more chances in the 1st half than he has all season. Surprised in some way that Davis seems to be playing deeper. Shaw's distribution much better today, but clearly missing the more experienced movement of SRL & JRod in the actual box. Sportsnation was awful BUT for the 1st time today I downloaded chrome and am watching it on Chrome and VIPBox Asia and have had NO Juddervision moments at all so far. Pap - don't think that many want them banned mate. They just want them to be a bit less how can we call it, "loud". Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and I respect even Alpine is allowed his own view on life. But everyone knows what is happening and some of those being discussed have from time to time changed their opinion not because of debate but because others shared it. Posting an Opinion is what is needed for debate. Just seeing some numpty say I am ALWAYS right gets REALLY boring week in week out 20 times a day Posting it 20 or 30 times on the same thread makes my Golf stories FAR more interesting than what is supposed to be OUR forum. The old farts in the corner have finally found the strength to ask the loudmouths at the bar to tone it down. St Chalet has said he'll watch matters now. The ONLY banning debate is how a selection of threads can get ruined by some and yet posters like VW who try to fight back pick up the infractions or those that are (sometimes) funny like the Bear get banned. That isn't equitable as has been pointed out.
