Saints sign 21 year old Dale Stephens on loan - official
dubai_phil replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
We signed a CM WHY THE FECK DIDN'T WE DO THIS YESTERDAY.... Then I wouldn't have had to listen to Oldnick droning on about a loan signing all last night and could have got MORE of my Tiger Woods Stories in -
No he shouldn't. Because at THAT time we were safe and he had people potentially bringing in investment. HE had accepted 2pence a share, but then history won't show the whole story. The story is still how our bank manager pulled the plug, what meeting or event caused THAT to happen and how the same manager turned up working for our administrator within weeks Right now my opnion on Rupert - he has brought his lad up right - he is a Saints fan, and we should welcome his kid to the massive, but let's face it, we really would prefer Dad to stay at home

Football Supporters Federation - Safe standing petition
dubai_phil replied to anothersaintinsouthsea's topic in The Saints
Lol Would be good if it could be re-introduced, but it won't. It has become too easy for clubs to manage the hooligan element with CCTV seat numbers and stewards. The PL will oppose it as they would have to decrease prices and only a few clubs would continue to get extra fans - Wigan - safe standing - lol would add about 10% to an already empty stadium Had to laugh at the Stadium announcer at Charlton, in a mousy quiet voice saying - attention Southampton fans will you please sit down. Yeah like THAt was gonna work But, the point is by the end of that game I was knackered, and more to the point fit young & healthy future son in law Spuds fan was ALSO knackered. The back ached, the knees hurt... Sure it made a great atmosphere but I'm way too old for all that now, which begs the question how would you implement it at SMS, from a stewarding perspective you would want to keep safe standing AWAY from the opposition fans, also it would mean a whole end (and possibly the corners) would have to stand or other seated fans wouldn't see feck all. I think it has a place in football and I enjoyed it Tuesday. Don't think it will happen though -
Well, there IS a very important fan position available this year - D_P's Magners deliverer. It gets well rewarded at the after party... We Soooooooo have to go to Dock Gate whatever after again - they stock Zubrowka - managed to get 4 bottles at Duty Free to replenish my stocks as down here it is rarer than Rocking Horse sh1t Oldnick won't be having any, he'll be dreaming of being MLT with his Malibu
-
51 years old last year, smoking like a chimney, knees that should be pensioned off, more one footed (right) than a thingy in Chronicles of Narnia (Dawn Treader whatever) yet last year during the warm up, the ball came across from the right, bounced up and I hit a waist high left footed volley from 18 yards into the back of the net at the Northam end. It will NEVER get better than that Would love to have seen the S1 Interviews DVD or even some more of the photos from last year but hey ho At least now (thanks to this thread) we know why Oldnick was so keen to sign a new midfielder. he obviously didn't find any of our current crop sexy enough. Nice flight home, Hosties looked after me VERY well - lol two mob numbers at my age AND with such a great GF, she'll be well impressed if she can stop laughing (Oh I had the Chicken with Gnochi BTW) unfortunately, as I was SOOO well looked after I am having trouble seeing the keyboard so my Taxi for LB thread will have to wait to tomorrow

Sitting at the airport lounge, sipping me Bucks Fizz and munching my Strawberry Jam & Clotted Cream Scones thinking it don't get better than ..... and woosh I find it's game on again! Damn, if only I had known yesterday could have nobbled Oldnick down the pub last night!

Guly was fit and came on for AOC. He showed us clearly why N'Guessan came on first. Whatever Guly is, he is NOT a wide midfield player. He didn't play badly just he doesn't know what to do when he is there. We lost some of our shape and fluency, he had his moments and his corners seemed much more dangerous (and we scored from one) But he is an attacking CM at best but ain't no wide boy Oh and Barnard's legs had gone, he could have still done a job but he had lost half a yard
-
Barnard was labouring for 5 or 10 mins before the foul. The foul was also a tired attempt to make a "must win tackle" and he got booked rightly so. Barnard has great industry and in the box will be deadly, BUT with our possession based passing game, there are too many times when Lee has his back to goal and is simply bundled off the ball as the ball comes in to his chest or head. Future Son In Law noted the huge difference in the way Lambert has the control & strength to hold the ball better in those situations. When you have LB being brushed aside on the edge of the box and AOC not firing on all cylinders, it makes it very difficult for our style of football. When Forte came on he did give the option of pace, and I can see why we have brought him in, he does offer something different as the game gets more open.

Oh and a BIG respect to the Burger place next to The Market Porter. Man those Burgers with Stilton & Chilli Sauce they were the only thing that raised the blood pressue all night Apart from Jaidi's quality strike (and RL's dummy header to set him up)
-
He took it very well also.Would have shut the mouthy git up behind us, Jeez anyone would have thought N'Guessan was Mugabe Gaddafi & Saddam combined the amount of stick he was giving him, inbetween the excessive use of the Eff word. Oh and how nice to have a smoke at half time... I was told
-
Like others commented clearly seemed to be a Groin Injury. The trainer spent some time spreading his legs (hmmm) and pressing. Wasn't any treatment going on to his head. Oh, come to think of it there was some massaging going on. AOC seemed to clatter the ad boards but the Charlton player went right through his ankle. So also a worry but no game for 11 days so phew
-
Just back, sipping a Tsing Tao. What a load of crap. Charlton were dreadful. We didn't seem to string more than 2 passes together the whole game. Barnard - we should start calling him Carpet - he spends as much time on the floor as Heskey used to. Yeah he's a busy player but he was bundled off the ball so much. AOC is still off the pace, ran into blind alleys, Lallana had 2 players on him before the injury. Impressed again by Fonte & Jaidi's movement & reading of the game, can't believe that a split second before Guly took the corner Future Son in Law (Spud fan) says - goal coming, Jaidi. Feck me he was far more effective than any Nun pictures. Had a great day out, met a few in the Market Porter, had enough beers but sorry, we were WAY better than the garbage that Charlton were playing. My only real thought is that we seem to almost be overcoached now and lacking in real true passion. The way Charlton played in the last few minutes at pace and with passion was the first sign of a true football match trying to break out. Disappointed, but not a disaster, more a wasted opportunity to be honest and worried about AL & AOC

Got my tickets Saturday thanks to the lads Will do Boro Market & Then down to the game Just hope I aint as damned cold as I was on Saturday Eric = you are in charge of the Nuns

Really enjoyed the game can see what we are trying to do. We played some incredibly intricate football in well coached patterns in 1st Half. Most organised I have seen a Saints team try and play Most early moves broke down around AOC but the fear factor meant he had double coverage and left acres for Harding to move into when Lallana went walkabout. We tried everything as if to a plan down the left down the right through the middle. It was intelligent football. I have also no doubt that many will have found it boring and passionless. It was anything but, sure it was Ineffective in 1st Half and we needed the goal from a set piece, BUT I see what we are doing I see value in it and I came away happy that we had won an easy game in the end Now that AIN'T saying I think it would work but it was a revelation SEEING us for a change!

Watching in HD at daughters in Essex. Seems to be in slow motion Huge cheeer here when the goal went in tho!
-
Toughie, but sounds like 10 pints. Bargain for us down here where it's 6 quid a pint on a good day
-
Nah, we're fine, why. we even declared we are going to have elections.... OK well the Emiratis are... Lot safer down here - we only have the Iranians with their Dodgy Nuke Programme to worry about... Oh
-
A wise Politician would have said during the negotiating phase - look we have this fook off great big Aircraft Carrier in the Med you can use, it's called RAF Akotiri Cyrpus. An even wiser one would have said Yep no probs UN baby. How much an hour are we on? But then you have Expense Claimers so,,,,,
-
Bloody hell Eric, you didn't spot Budgie? You spent long enough talking to him that night when he got beat at Karaoke
-
Surprised so few mentioned Jimmy Case, Obviously the Keegan moment was something the youngsters just couldn't ever understand for sheer shock value. As good servants go Dave Armstrong wasn't a bad shout either and of course the signing of England's Centre Half Dave Watson with Chris Nicholl - possibly two of the best CB's of their time. Psycho was great value for us fans, and let's not forget Mick Mills who was solid for us and even oooh Terry Hurlock on his day. Ossie of course gets many mentions & rightly so, but what about re-uniting what had been (and were) the Div 1's best strike force? Ted McDougall & Phil Boyer? OK so they played in an era with those horrid shirts but....

Easy answer - find pub with 2 tellys & book to see Optician to repair the damage on Monday

Oooh this is interesting. I'd love to be able to hack the financial details of all the Few who pay by cash or cheque and end up with no recourse through Credit Card Purchase Insurance should the "goods" they purchased not be delivered. That would be worth a firtune to all those nice people in Nigeria who keep sending me emails about all the money they want to send me. How motivating it will be to know there are so many gullible fools out there that other more "professional" con artists could take for a few grand, Hmm maybe would sell the names on a commission basis, would make a forutune
