We had the big gig last night. Wasn't initially keen on going to see some old washed out has beens () but with a friend in town we got our act together and went up. Two full concerts, Spandau Ballet & Rod Stewart, propably around 8-10,000 in the audience and mostly wrinklies. Spandau came on Tony Hadleigh is certainly chunkier these days and apart from a couple of not very interesting tracks from their new album they played their back catalogue for the best part of 90 minutes. Seemed much harder and rockier sound than on album and I have to say they were absolutely fantastic. A great show, and so many good songs half remembered in amongst the classics. Carlsberg Don't do Support Bands but if they did.... For you older types if they rock up in a city near you head on down for a really good show and wallow in nostalgia with a happy grin on your face. Then the "Headline" Dear Old Rod. Sure looks like he could do with a bit more Botox these days, but he had a BIG show (and Mamma the Sax player doing her blowing thing gave all the guys in the stadium a tingly moment) He did a few numbers from his new album, normally a dull spot in any show, but Soulbook is full of covers of old Soul Classics which fitted in perfectly with his old "This Ole heart of Mine" sound and were really good. All the classics came out, at times the sing-along of the wrinlies almost drowned out the sound of the band - good old hair standing on end moments. Even got his football in with a Celtic Video and kicking signed footballs into the audience. Having not been over keen on going in the run up to the shows we rocked up, got almost as plastered as some forum members at Gillingham and the evening was right up there in the Top ten gigs ever seen by everybody on the beer bus back home. A great night, the start of a new tour for Rod and WELL worth the trip up to O2 or whereever he'll be in the UK. A really great set. Oh and yes Rule 1 here you go...

I posted this on the "Other Thread" on the main forum but add some comments to it Now, let us examine some of the things we have already seen made public. - Storrie has stated his belief in public that the money came from Arcadi - major Breach of PL rules bordering on criminal - Statement that money was owed to an Un-Registered Agent in respect of transfers from French Clubs of players - major breach of UEFA regulations - Financial Statement made to PL in January regarding the Transfer Embargo stating that the club did not have any major financial problems and allowing them to sign loan players (for whom they have NOT paid any fees) - major breach of PL regulations and could possibly be fraudulent. Now we KNOW that there is a precedent for the FL imposing a points penalty if they believe an unfair advantage is being gained - it happened to us. We KNOW that Luton were given a points penalty for illegal payments to agents. We have NO IDEA what the penalties could be for Fraud or possible Criminal actions regarding financial statements and ownership issues. Assume for one moment that AA's plan DOES allow them to reform as a shell club for 5 years having all their money sucked out to repay the 20% of the debts, there are AT LEAST 20 points in penalties that COULD be applied that have nothing to do with the "methodology" of their escape route. Does ANYONE honestly believe that the CCC clubs and the rest of the FL clubs would vote to be NICE to an operation that has without ANY shadow of doubt brought Football into Disrepute? PCFC's appalling Corporate Compliance will have massive ramifications for the rest of Football. ALL regulations will be tightened up and loopholes closed. A lot of this will add new admin or legal costs to other football clubs. And you guys WORRY that the FL will be nice to them.... Yeah right, they're toast
-
Bear in mind also one important point. Legally, SLH & SFC had a cast iron case that they should not have any points deduction. Nothing to do with morally right, but LEGALLY the case was watertight and had been checked by some VERY influential legal minds in London. At the end of the day however, the FL said, very simply and very clearly, NO. Effectively they blackmailed us, along the lines of - You appeal then you cannot play in the League until the Court Case is finished. Do not for one minute believe that the FL will allow any club to come up with a "Clever Scheme" to gain an unfair advantage from previous finanical mismanagement. It is THEIR League. PCFC can appeal any deduction but the FL will say the same thing to them - not a problem, go and appeal and when the legal case is finished we will find you a gap in the pyramid and give you back your golden share. The PRECEDENT already exists

Tony was great, came round with the Limo and the beer. Down side was it had the name of his Scaffolding Company on it. (Oops sorry I didn't intend for you to think it was THAT Tony)> Picked up Rod on the way (he owns the company here that supplies the al important Portaloos at these events Everyone who is anyone was at the gig, although didn't see anyone there who was under the age of about 400 - even Mrs EoA was allowed out apparently. Spandau were superb - shouldn't have been but they really rocked - all us wrinkies singing along with that inane - half cut/happy memories grin on our faces. (Shame about their new stuff though) And as for Rod, oh yes, up there in the legend status, big show, big act and if my hangover wasn't so bad I'd notice I'd lost my voice singing too much. Meanwhile, I just want to point out that I have NOTHING to do with the Series of Unfortunate Events that is befalling the Home Team. I am of course (as you will all know) a Sun God, not a Witch. (Douglas Adams wrote about my brother the Rain God in one of his 5 Hitchhiker trilogy books) We all know which Manager has already admitted to having a Witch in their household. Perhaps someone doesn't want their better half having a big night out in Southampton and is taking measures.... Eye of Newt and Hair of the Dog and all that.

gor blimey. Life is Sooo hard when you're a global superstar. You guys have no real idea how big this event is going to be on the World Stage.. I mean there I was this evening just sitting down to watch Simon Pegg in "How to Lose Friends & Alienate people" (I was looking for some tips), when the boys rang up and asked if they could come round. They'd heard I took training seriously and wanted to get in shape for the Big event tomorrow night. So of course I had to let them round to use the Karaoke to brush up ready for the Big Concert - Rod Stewart supported by Spandau Ballet tomorrow night - True.. They managed to get Through the Barricades outside the front door. Tony was fine (if a little over weight these days) but I'm sorry, it got out of hand when Rod called up. I didn't think it was wrong to say - "Look Rod I don't mind you coming round for a blast on the Bagpipes and all that, but I'm sorry mate, there really is NO WAY I can get you into the Away Team no matter how much you chip in for the after party. How can I let my boysh down?" Was that wrong? I mean as one global superstar to another he must understand it's not all plain Sailing. Like I said, just because you've spent the last 30 years hoping that Maggie May doesn't mean all your dreams come true. He wore it well and promised to sing a song he wrote about me for me tomorrow night. Something about If I'm Sexy, no idea, sounded a bit ghey. Jeez, the things some people will try on to get into the Away Team. Anyway you're all safe chaps.

And another thing to add into the magic box of disappearing money.... During the close season of 2009/10, PCFC sold players valued at something like 40 million, WHICH WAS USED TO REDUCE THEIR DEBT TO THE BANKS. So, in the land of fairy tales (or should that be written submissions to Courts and Footballing Authorities), the club has actually managed to p*ss it's way through close to TWO HUNDRED MILLION POUNDS. That's right, that is the figure that Liverpool were worth. Think about THAT when you see Skates on here expecting sympathy. 200 million POUNDS. And they entered the FAPL, the FA Cup etc with statements that they were Solvent. About the ONLY thing that has been going on at Nottarf Krap during this season is Solvent Abuse. Would explain why Grunt's ranting incomprehensibly if nothing else. 200 MILLION. I rescind my earlier statement that Peter Storrie was Probably the Worst CEO in British Corporate history. I think time will now show he was Probably the Worst CEO in GLOBAL Corporate History. And still we get the it wasn't our fault cries. Sorry, in a word ******

We should all have a "What have you won recently" thread just to make SRS feel inadequate

But they would if they had Trade Insurance.

Forgetting the Admin side of things for one moment, another very clear issue is coming very clear. It has now taken an age for AA to reach a set of figures that shows the financial situation at the PCFC Ltd. This is a legal entity and is subject to Corporate Compliance legislation beyond the Admin mess we are currently focused upon. It is extremely clear that the Officers of The Company (ie the Directors) had no control over nor Governance over the internal Business Processes. There are pages and pages of Company Law which detail the legal responsibilities of the Officers of a Company, and not withstanding the mess of the current PCFC (in Admin), the DTI (or this month's name) has a legal duty to pursue the former Directors for Gross Negligence and incompetence. Again, being negligent becomes a new issue for the smaller creditors and could lead to personal liability issues. The mess isn't done yet, other Criminal & Civil cases could yet join the queue at the Laughing Stock

Good Ole Captain Kirk, must have seemed the most stupid deal in the Galaxy back at the time of the Dot Com bubble but US$600million Pay Check, Jeez.... If only we'd thought of something like that all those years ago..... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/celebritynews/7683943/William-Shatner-earns-600m-from-Priceline-adverts.html

Gareth Bale in the Champions League who'd have thought it. Two Saints Left Backs make it, ho hum, have to lol at Man City though except being from down here we're not allowed to
-
An interesting point was raised to me recently. No idea how it works or if it is true. Season Ticket renewals will be paid into a "Holding account", however as the Ticket Holders will have paid money into the club in return for future services, then it is highly possible that they will become Creditors of the club and can have a proxy vote in the CVA decision.

Lol, There's that karma thing again.

PMSL. Poor old Poopey, such great support

Ah yes West Ham. Massively in debt. The takeover strategy was based upon giving the ground away to make money in a property development and to move into the Olympic Stadium in 2012/13. A club massively in debt (important enough to mention it twice) thanks to Iceland and paying Jenas, Lundberg et al a zillion a year to make 10 first team appearances between them. A tem who have to have a total fire sale of their squad and will be playing in the CCC under immense pressure (with no funds) to bounce straight back into the PL. Who even if they did unearth a few gems would have to sell in January just to keep paying back the debts. Versus a club bound for the CCC with the funding to make it happen and a squad potentially already good enough for the CCC. No brainer that one, spiritual home or not

Seeing as we didn't play the match at SMS then technically the best Away Day of the season was Wembley..... Sorry being pedantic today :-)
