  1. I seem to recall from my Youth that Brut or Old Spice seem to act as a repellant to just about everything
  2. Tehe Actually I blame the effing Med Sea cable that got cut, our innernet down here has been a bigger nightmare than the Skates season the last couple of weeks SORRY! But actually yes
  3. My two inputs - 1) It's Granty's gig so has to be his call 2) It's a long old drag across town for those of us without wheels crashing in hotels that night. Otherwise sounds like the start of a plan. What time do they close? and would EoA's nruse (from the last away day theme thread be there?) Ouch, no dear, that was a joke no ouch honestly no I would ouch never no good night
  4. Lets be realistic. RL has improved leaps and bounds this season. He will know why that is, but he also seems the sort of bloke who "Gets It" and is enjoying himself. He will also know that there is always January, so unless someone offers in the 4-6mil for him I believe he'll be here for the start of the season and if we do get off to the start that we all believe possible then why would he want to leave? Nice OP Marsdinho, but one big mistake, you should have asked AP to come to the forum match and get some advice on how to be better for next year and check out some real quality players
  5. I apologise for editing the original (Gordon Brown) version PCFC's players & The Groaning One were visiting a local primary school and the class was in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings. The teacher asked them if they would like to lead the discussion on the word 'Tragedy'. So our Avram asked the class for an example of a 'Tragedy'. A little boy (who was Scottich) stood up and offered, "If ma best freen, wha' lives on a ferm, is playin' in the field and a tractor rins ower him and kills him, that wid be a tragedy." "Incorrect", said the David James, in his best trying-not-to-sound-too-Scottish-accent, "That would be an accident." A little girl raised her hand, "If a school bus carrying fifty children drove over a cliff, killing evryone inside, would that be a tragedy" 'I'm afraid not', explained Avram, "that's what we would refer to as a great loss''. The room went silent. No other children volunteered. Avram searched the room. "Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?" Finally, at the back of the room, a wee lad raised his hand and, in a quiet voice, said: "If a plane carrying you and the players to an away game was struck by a 'friendly fire' missile & blown tae smithereens, that would be a tragedy." "Fantastic, of course!" exclaimed Avram, "and can you tell me why that would be a tragedy?" "Well", says the lad, "it has to be a tragedy, because it certainly wouldn't be a great loss, and it probably wouldn't be a f*cking accident either!"

  7. Yeah I can't believe he got away with it
  8. I would like to express my shock and horror at the events of today. How one EARTH can our first post on our first 500th page be........ That thought warms the ****les of your heart Dear Lord, does this mean we're doomed, will the 20,000th be yet another disappointment. Still as it was posted by the losing m anager I suppose it does have a small footnote in history. Onwards and upwards
  9. Thank God for that silly old cow. Been looking for an excuse for months as whoever gets in after what I've done to the economy is going to be Sooooooo screwed. Now, if I could just stop PMSL I may have got away with it
  10. Believe young Master Luke, the force is strong with this one. Don't just sit there get on it. Nick - ties in with that idea we had
  11. Dear Hamster I live a reclusive life, my days of battling with red tape are brightened by my occassional trips back to Dear Old Blighty and the chance for me to quaff many pints of Wadworth's 6X, Fullers London Pride or Courage Directors. DG4 as a chill out lounge was humming, simply becuaee we were there. Coming such a distance for such a high profile event, SURELY there must be SOMEWHERE that we can drink real beer if just for one night, heck if one of the suites could be persuaded to open I'd even order a mini-barrel (not for sharing of course) Come on you trendy in -crowd types Get with the ideas dudes! Bottle of Duty Free Jagermeister for the winning suggestion
  12. Wow 76 posts to go to the magical 25,000 mark. Will it be a roaring piece of new news or another numpty plank comment... Exciting times ahead!
  13. The difference this time is that HMRC have already petitioned to court their concerns regarding the appointment of AA. I think we can all rest assured that they think it was dodgy, have accepted the court's decision that it seems ok and will be looking for ANY firm evidence to the contrary. I'll bet they have a clerical assistant reading this, following all the web links and compiling a large set of data for their teams to research. It will need just one mistake for them to return all guns blazing to fry the bigger fish of the Footballing Debts, one mistake, one contradictory statement and AA will be fish bait. From all I am told, most of the IP indusrty are probably helping out as well as the man is held is a high level of absolutely NO esteem by his peers
  14. And yet Hodgson was bemoaning losing him for the Semi Final. Seems he has come into the team built on an intelligent work ethic and done well. Hope they can get a result, now THAT would be a plucky fairy tale Cup Final achievement everyone could get behind, unlike the other one with the cheats down the road
  15. Funnily enough, that's what she said last time we met, @oh well then I suppose I'll have to take one for the team"..... Or did I say that, darned if I can remember must have been the Bullfrogs. Anyway get the webcam feeds coming in, it may be something we can send to Avram to teach him how to moan effectively. Hamster. Let's be honest here how the Feck do you expect me to help select the after party venue? If it were up to me it would be Rock Bottom followed by Media.Com home karaoke until the pubs open for Brunch on Friday, unfortunately don't think Matt Le Tiss would make it that far. (The Flybe plane not the legend of course) Dock Gate 5,976 seemed a really good starting point, my only real input is PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE anywhere except that 80's bar. (Unless everywhere else is shut of course) Oh bugger, just remembered need to start work on blagging a complimentary hotel room for the night

    100 Goals

 Boooo What a pathetic effort then this season. Such negative football. It's L1 FFS, we have the best forwards in the League and we can't even break a record from when players weren't really fit? AP out I say :smt073
  17. Well done Rickie, now it is time to put your pathetic Goals return this year behind you and for you to get the 40+ goals next season that we demand. :-)
  18. Don't worry, having the techie guys in the away team you shouuld of course have realised that we managed to install web cams in all your bedrooms and we actually sold the movie rights to a Chinese Dodgy DVD Company. Which of course means that we have sponsorship for the After Party
  19. Good to see one of my understudies doing well last night. Did you hear the story about why he had to be called The Special One? It was all down to how the then Manager of Coombe Bissett FC had already copywritten "The Only One" label. Anyway, hope the training is going well gang. Should be stepping up the work rate by now. Again, a reminder for the Newbies this season, the pitch at SMS looks like a Billiard Table but for you guys pounding the streets it will actually feel like running on a sponge. Really gets to the Calf Muscles, so I would recommend that you add a good 30 minutes a day in the build up practising by bouncing up and down on a good soft bed. (It will help you on on the day if you do it standing up but we understand local health and safety rules and the availability of willing assistants to help keep you upright). Meanwhile my preparations are going from strength to strength so that I am fully prepared. In fact just this morning I felt that I was getting close to being a real Premier League level Manager. Chaslu had a grand opening of their new Wellbeing and Spa Centre, and of course, being "The Only One" I was on the Celebrity invite list and was able to take full advantage of a complimentary Thai Body Massage. I really must recommend it to the Away team Forwards as it certainly will help you Up Front. Anyway, to retain the moral high ground over "The Moaning One" I did of course decline the Happy Ending, as I know full well that it would of course be wrong to peak too soon in the Big Build Up. So keep the miles up, keep the peckers up and plenty of bouncing up and down to get those Calf Muscles rock hard for the big day
  20. Parachute payments explained http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/7641526/Football-League-clubs-at-odds-with-each-other-over-Premier-League-payment-plan.html I understand the issue of keeping PL clubs afloat, but this is very wrong, it will create even more imbalance in football. The issue of "financial security" could be resloved far more easily by the PL making it compulsory that all player contracts have a cluaes that halves a playes salary if their club is relegated and which makes it compulsory that the player completes his contract at the reduced rate. That then allows the extra money to be shared by all the FL clubs. But then that was Rupert's idea so no chance when football hates him AND is worried only about the money grabbing players
  21. Ah, so THAT's why GM was so upset, us expats get the chance to write words for the programme and he has to settle for TSW. Thx for spotting this JB I'm sure some tales will be told over the next twelve months
  22. Plucky Poompey. Going to get away with (TM Nickh) Think it is now becoming more and more clear that as each day goes by, fresh comments and stories are emerging regarding the horror show up the road. I've said it time and again, it will not be the debts or the admon or the cheating that does for them, it will be the total lack of Corporate Compliance, and Boy oh Boy have we been seeing that in print in the past week or so. It is funny in many ways, I think the fact that they avoided (cheated) their way out of the Winding Up Order is being seen to be a good thing. As each day passes, now that the knives are out for them, the tale of debacle grows larger and larger. At this rate, it will not be many weeks before many of the wiser Few start hiding their heads and WISHING they had been Wound Up. At least then they would have been simply Poor Old Pompey. Now they have passed beyond the "TSW told you so" stage into an all out downright unmitigated laughing stock. The longer it goes on the worse it will get. In many ways having them around like this is far better than having them dead and buried. While they might (hahahaha) survive as a club, it will take many many years for them to be thought of with anything other than contempt by the rest of the footballing fraternity. And no, the fans aren't blameless, after all who did they vote for as their Terrace Hero, and who did they demand the Freedom of the City for? Being rescued from (in the words of the Telegraph) a Stinking Cesspit of a club by it being Wound Up means you have been rescued and can rebuild. Being left to wallow in it for years to come is much funnier
  23. OK I have found the link. JlT wasn't accusing Jamie of being on eof the problems with Lifestyle types, simply that it had been identified by Matt Crocker in the penultimate paragraph in this OS piece http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2025768,00.html Again, it harks back to the original "SCW" job specification, we need to have a formalised structure for managing the kids from when they graduate from the Acadmey until they become regular first team players. The whole issue of helping them to stop being kids and becoming mature players in their prime needs managing better. The reserves don't seem to hack it, planned spells out on loan (it worked for Beckham) seem to be the way, but again while they are there they need to be managed for the long term not only for the match day. McLaggon, White and Gobern need to be developed, they aren't consistent or experienced enough for our first team yet, look at how Antonio developed this season, is it better to send them on structured "outsourcing" to gain that experience or should we drop Barnard or Connelly to get them playing time? Easy answer really, keep them but manage their development.
  24. Not only have they cheated, but they LIED to the Premier League. They supplied a statement of affairs (pre-Vantis) that resulted in their being able to resign O'Hara on loan at a cost of 500k in loan fees WHICH THEY NEVER HAD THE ABILITY OR INTENTION TO PAY! Did O'Hara have an effect on their season? How can any fan not understand this? But then we get ahead of ourselves, we forget that seeing as they all live in caravans they never have mortgages or loans so that they don't understand the basics of economics
