So, assuming he's not exactly a role model now, who's going to be team captain this season? Davis is club captain but I'm not sure he'll be first name on the team sheet every week. My vote would be Oriel, although his tenacity might not be ideal for a calm head required of as a captain. Ideas...?

I must admit I'm a tad concussed about the current attitude regarding VVD. I thought that for 75% of last season we had pretty much concluded that he was so good it was inevitable that he would move on? I still think he's too good not to want champions League. That being said, I say sell him if we get circ 65K and invest the money in three replacements. He's not a one man team and we should of (bar a terrible decision) won a cup without him.

I suppose it's very opportune for Kruger to publically state "we are not going to sell VVD" when there is almost certainly an agreement with slander that he won't be sold until the potential take over is complete. Kruger didn't say Southampton FC will not sell BBC this summer, he said "we won't sell him".

When are the fixtures announced? Liverpool first game written all over this. That would start the season off with a bang!
