An absolutely lovely bloke and nicest player at the club according to a mate who works there. Always stops for a chat with people no matter what role they do.
-
I have 2 kids aged 16 and 13 and most of their mates support Saints. There's obviously those who follow a big club but that always happens.
-
She's probably now the 5th most famous Saints fan after Craig David, the drummer from Coldplay, Iwan Thomas and that motor racing bloke.
-
Was it Beattie and Prutton who used to do an evening show on The Saint? What were we thinking!
-
Peter Hood, that's a name I had forgotten for a long time. Jimmy Case used to do co-commentate on one station. Was that Solent before Merrington? Remember seeing Case in the Alex after one game wearing a white t-shirt that he'd dropped a load of egg yolk down. I like those post game rituals. Around that time mine would have involved a chippy, but it would have been Ted's on Bedford Place after drinking in the Eagle or Maple Leaff.

What radio station was it that picked up the rights to Saints for a couple of seasons in the mid to late 90's? Was a local commercial station? Power FM? Jim Proudfoot was the commentator and always used to come out with absolute nonsense and was completely bias towards Saints.

Some West Ham fans don't seem to have a problem with Zouma

I quite liked Man Utd's old school strip of lights just showing the score and the time. We don't need some massive screen which is basically only there to push more shitty adverts in our face. If we are to have it, play the pre match video and then leave the team line ups on screen while the game goes on. Only other need for it is to show goal replays.

It's the players desire to prove people saying "game over" on match threads wrong. There's loads of factors and most of them are worked out by Hasenhuttl and the coaches, practiced on the training ground and implemented by the players on the pitch. Not having many injuries is massive. Armstrong being back to fitness is huge. Other players becoming more comfortable in their roles and partnerships. For example Broja and Adams up front have been the regular main 2 which is important. We also have more flexibility now due to a better squad and can adapt within games to a larger extent.

This is something even our own fans don't give us enough credit for. People will say "oh, xxxx team were crap against us" but often it's our tactics that force them to play badly. A couple of other things from yesterday. A load of our fans missed the goal because they were still in the concourse. Our seats were right by the steps as you come into the stand and when we scored they all bundled up the stairs and jumped on us from behind as we celebrated. Reminded me of when we went to Newcastle and I missed Beattie's early opener because I was late leaving the pub and he scored while I was still climbing the 857 flights of stairs to the away end. There were also people in the away end with half and half scarves ffs. Some were even adults. Also saw people filming Ronaldo on their phones. Sort yourselves out.

Nothing wrong with what Hasenhuttl said. Jenas is still salty after we did Spurs midweek. What would the media rather have, an honest assessment of the match and some insights into how a manger thinks or the same old boring soundbites? At least Danny Murphy said it was true. He seems to like us a bit more now.

Wasn't he one who apparently signed an extension but the club never mentioned it? He's fine to have in the squad. More than decent back up and also seems like a great guy. I'd personally sell Bednarek, we could get a decent fee for him, and reinvest in an upgrade with Stephens there to complement the new CB and Salisu. Is he better than Lyanco, or is there not much in it?

Don't start with all that data analyst pony. Football's a simple game. 2 banks of 4, get it wide and stick it in the mixer for the big lad. Sure I remember reading that somewhere?

He's such a perfect Che We'll sing this song just for you Oh, such a perfect Che He just keeps on scoring goals He just keeps on scoring goals
-
About time he had a decent song. He's playing his heart out and banging in some crucial goals yet we don't seem to have one for him. Any ideas?
-
Really? Wankers.

Recently I remember seeing posts saying Hasenhuttl's favourite 4-2-2-2 formation didn't work and we needed to stop playing it. In the last 2 away games we've used it to get 4 points against 2 of the better teams in the league. Does this mean those posters were wrong, or has something else changed to make the formation suddenly work again?
-
Has any team in recent years gone undefeated against both Manchester clubs in a season? Liverpool maybe? It's a pretty good achievement.
-
34 in March, so no, not really.
-
He's playing ok at the moment but we a know he's form is up and down and that he isn't consistent. It's our weakest position and we should definitely try to improve it in the summer. He's also 34 next month so we won't get much more time out of him (yes I'm aware Caballero is 40 but there's barely any keepers his age still playing)
-
He scored in the cup last weekend didn't he? We normally do alright against them at home. One of those teams like Newcastle who we generally don't need to bother playing each season because the league could just award us 3 points each for the home wins.

The Minsk Memorial Thread (and continuation of his work)
The Cat replied to Minsk's topic in The Saints
Terrible news. My thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP Minsk, a true Saint. -
Just got back. A great day out and thoroughly deserved point. Our fans were good and really got behind the team while also giving their whining, entitled players a deserved amount of abuse. Romeu outstanding, best player on the pitch. Him and Ward Prowse largely bossed the midfield. Broja and Adams showed strength and guile up front and the full backs put in an incredible shift. Fair play to Forster as well for a couple of crucial saves. Once we worked out how to stop their wide players getting behind in space we played smoothly and with confidence. There were some superb passing moves, probably the best in the second half before Armstrong blazed over. Thought the ref was good although should have sent Fernandes off and the penalty shout on Broja looked a good one, Maguire seemed to put hands on his back and push him over. However he gave us plenty of the type of decisions you don't always get away at a big club. Love watching us at the moment. We are well organised, the players work hard for each other and seem to really enjoy our style of play. Long may it continue.

It seems that we had a couple of poorer age groups just come through, but the future underneath that is looking very positive. Weirdly last seasons injury crisis may have worked in our favour in the long term. We were forced to put a load of youngsters in the first team squad which means any potential signings will see there is a pathway and that may just swing the balance if a few teams are in for them. There's also a bunch of players at U17 and U16 age groups this season with huge potential. I'm really looking forward to seeing what impact they have over the next 18 months. I wouldn't be surprised to see some of them around the first team squad by the end of the season, especially if we're in a league position that means there's not much to play for. U18 and U16 results have been very good this season and there's a lot more to come.

3 players in the top 20, nice to see. I seem to remember Bednarek being top, or very near to it at some point last season.
