  1. Last game of the season, top of the table clash away to Everton, winner wins Championship.
  2. The above article outlines Jones's football style when it is working and successful and it doesn't sound great. This is why many didn't want him at the beginning.
  3. Totally disagree, it's what a lot of corporate organisations would do. In these situations I always ask myself 'what would Max Clifford do'.
  4. I just think Jones is being badly advised at the moment, or the club isn't taking the situation seriously enough. A bit of humble pie, some back tracking, hold his hands up and admit he's been a bit of a wally, would have built some bridges and taken the sting out of the situation. If Jones and the club really think he has a future, that's what he should have done. It would have taken so little effort to do and stopped the hypa scrutiny. I know that results are the ultimate panacea, but a bit of effort on the PR front would certainly help, especially if they want the best chance to succeed on Saturday.
  5. Not being ready for the first team is irrelevant. It would have been nice to have kept him. The blessing bit, I guess Jones felt he had to say, afterall we are all on his case about being chippy.
  6. It feels like we're done. So thinking of next season, I want to get a couple of new grounds in, Coventry and Ipswich (if they go up), do Watford to help my son complete all the London(ish) grounds and Plymouth (itgu) for family reasons. It won't be so bad. Just remembered I did Ipswich years ago with my old man. So maybe a northern one like Everton or Blackpool.
  7. Hart can pack the boxes, whilst Jones goes around taking his photos down.
  8. That includes ALL of us on here.
  9. Were are paying him £4m per season to be able to cope with the pressure. He could hire a counsellor, a masseuse or a big bloke from the valleys to smack.
  10. And his excuse was 'we have to learn another system'. In a semi final, ffs.
  11. That is a completely different thing, that is a crowd on the backs of an underperforming team, yes we've all seen that. Was there much of that against Lincoln or Brighton? What we are talking here is general discontent of fans, muttering in pubs and message boards being some sort of barrier to the manager performing properly. Which really isn't the case.
  12. People really are overstating the role fans play. Fans aren't at the training ground, in the changing room, at team selection meetings, managers briefings, press conferences. Fans are on message boards, that have no impact on the manager (unless you go reading them and posting on them) and in the ground, and the ground fans are the most forgiving. All Jones had to do was display a football indentity, some good performances and show progress. He didn't even have to win loads, just show some progress. There was a massive uplift in support when we beat Man City, the will was there to get behind him. A few more of those performances and the detracting voices would have been drowned out. This didn't happen, coupled with his awful behaviour and we find ourselves where we are. He was no more up against it then a lot of managers of clubs of our ilk, your Dyches, your Moyes's, your Parkers.
  13. But the fans were right, this job was above Jones, as it has been proven. Just because the opinion wasn't nice doesn't mean it was wrong and it certainly doesn't mean it was instrumental in his downfall. People gave him a chance, more than you care to admit and things turned shitty only when his poor football was dished up. Yes it's horrible for his saints supporting family, but it's just football, none of the stuff said is real. People don't hate the person, they hate the persona.
  14. Your posts are littered with stuff about fans moaning, not giving Jones a chance, wanting him to fail, causing him to fail etc etc The failure of Jones is on Jones, his football, his man management and PR has failed. He is paid a lot of money to perform above the noise, and as someone on here said, if he can't do that, then it's just more evidence that he is not up to the job.
  15. You've been skirting around this for days on here and you've finally come out and said it, that you think the Jones debacle is down to the fans behaviour. Ridiculous.
  16. Tedious but illustrative of the position we are in.
  17. Was that mentioned in the forum?
  18. RA has stuck his neck out for Jones, he has to say this stuff. It's meaningless buying time flannel.
  19. Maybe. But I'm certain I read on here that he had turned down an offer from Rasmus before, maybe that was Brentford. Rasmus has been courting him for a long time, and with the issues with RH, why wouldn't he have gone for Jones in the summer But Jones conscious of getting stung by the Stoke job, may have wanted to improve his pedigree at Luton for a bit longer, before taking another step up. Jones is all about Project Jones, he sees himself as on a journey to being a top manager. So part of that would be taking a considered approach to the next step. Otherwise the only explanation for not getting rid of RH in the summer is mismanagement.
  20. My theory is that they wanted to bin RH in the summer and get Jones in, but he turned down the offer. They went back for him before the WC, saying something like 'they won't ask again'. The giving Ralph until the WC is just backward engineering bollocks. Also to stretch the theory a bit, they may have left RH with out the new striker, or reluctant to buy one that may not have fitted in with a new manager.
  21. Pleased it's not Luton, the less focus on Jones the better. I am sick of hearing him talk about Luton. A nice simple tie for the new manager.
  22. Sorry mate your post is equally ridiculous. Blaming modern football fans is such a cliché, it doesn't even fit this scenario. And we haven't supported since the 90's, is totally ridiculous I don't even know what it means.
  23. They could do a PR reset, where Nathan calms down, doesn't mention Luton again, doesn't respond to everything so defensively. Explains the job in hand and how he is going about it. But all that does is mend the disastrous PR. In terms of the football, he has shown his hand and he not holding much. There won't be a miraculous change in approach, there isn't any way this can be saved. If he was capable of displaying a decent way of playing, we would have seen it by now.
  24. When are we going to give our managers his marsching orders.
  25. Or Dragon and Mandarić. Would explain the whole Jones appointment.
