  1. Not if Brighton Bournemouth and Reading all come up. (That is NOT a prediction btw)
  2. The solution would be for them to decide what gives the best outcome for them and their family. I accept that their situation was unfortunate, and would be even more so if a max 2 qualifying children was implemented. BUT doesn't matter what situations are implemented in any walk of life there will always be some who lose out. It's unfortunate to lose a job, be born with a disability, be 11th in line for an emergency operation when the hospital can only handle 10 a day, the list is endless. We will NEVER live in a world where someone somewhere isn't disadvantaged by something. On the whole only paying CB for max 2 children sounds a fair system, (provided it is only amended for future births, not existing children) until there comes a time that our population needs to expand (unlikely, barring major war or uncontrollable disease) and then it could be increased to encourage extra births.
  3. Twins not a problem. Just pay a maximum 2 children. Doesn't really matter how/when born. One of Barry's better posts.
  4. It's not really a projection though is it? Using that word is a bit of a red herring. It's the actual points earned in the most recent 38 games played against our 19 opponents once each at home and away. So every week that figure is subject to change as the newest game gets added but the previous matching fixture gets removed. Taken as a snapshot it's not particularly relevant but followed weekly it'll give a good insight to who is improving (that'll be us then) and who's going the other way.
  5. This is not "new news". This is something the press have suddenly been brave enough to print after law suits and threats from the McCanns originally resulted in our "free press" all deciding to support the McCanns and their version of events in every way possible. Why, NOW, are the e-fits suddenly being made public? Is the net closing in? Are they trying to force/panic the McCann's into a mistake? I guess no-one knows for sure how they would react to any given situation till it happens, but I am 99.9% certain that if I had lost my daughter I would want every single snippet of info that might help trace her out there in the public eye immediately, not suppressed. I'm also pretty sure I'd want to be in the area of every possible reported sighting as soon as possible to help with any follow ups and be there if she was found, wherever in the world they came from and however tenuous the report sounds. I can't imagine for one minute I would consider any report not worth following up.
  6. Whilst I understand where The9 is coming from and actually agree with his comments regarding the meaning, does it ****ing matter? Football chants/songs are about a feeling of togetherness and creating an atmosphere, they don't need to be grammatically and/or factually correct. If Pompey Scum was only sung by those who were REALLY told by their mothers to wash their mouth out and go and fetch their father's gun I doubt it would have caught on. It could be argued that Pompey consider us small, so "This is what it's like to be small" is meant ironically, throwing their opinions back in their faces from the lofty heights of 3rd in the PL, (yep, we really are small-time  ). Personally can't see why we bother singing anything about Pompey unless we're playing them but this new song is much better than Pompey scum and if it gets plenty joining in then stick with it. Having said that, I hope someone is working on a new song to replace it for when Guy is sacked and replaced by someone without a 3 syllable surname.
  7. We were 2500-1 when I got my bet on. That's a huge drop in relatively few games.

I'm sure I remember the Ineos founder Jim Ratcliffe's name being bandied about back in takeover speculation days. Can't recall if there was anything in the rumours or if it was a clutching at straws name any local rich man type rumour. Hopefully this will make a few other unions wake up, saving most jobs or taking a pay cut is better than no jobs at all. The news mentioned an average salary at the plant of £55k !
  9. We have but they've started getting complacent. I mean, they actually went and let a goal in at OT last weekend. That's 3 already this season! They need some pressure to keep them on their toes.
  10. The word "abduction" may not appear but indicates they have gone into the investigation with a pre-conceived outcome in mind. Further, if they are really investigating all possibilities then the McCanns have to be considered as possible suspects until categorically eliminated. So seems very strange.
  11. I find this bit most interesting Bearing in mind the McCann's have paid a LOT of (donated to appeal?) money to private investigators who appear to have done little or nothing, I wonder what that may reveal.
  12. I would guess he means the shop premises were far bigger than they needed for their own merchandise sales so Soccer Scene have taken part of the space on a concession basis. The boot sales will be SS sales not PFCs but they'll take royalties i.e, a percentage of sales instead of rent for the space.
  13. I have converted the data of date/league position over last 3 years into a graph, extrapolated the upward curve further and come to the conclusion that sometime between Xmas & New Year we will run out of leagues to play in.
  14. Cheers for the reply. The fire is a nice feature but very very rarely turn it on (room has 2 radiators in). It doesn't matter how high the flames go it doesn't seem to generate any heat in the room, so I can well believe your 20% figure. The vent is about 7ft up wall approx 9 - 10 ft away from the fire so much further away than your 100cm². I could easily block up vent and retain fire for decoration (although probably get a downdraft from flue as well) and never use it but would that be breaking any regulations and/or cause problems if I come to sell house?
  15. Further to the utilities thread and cutting fuel bills, when my house was built it had a gas fire (never saw it but guessing some kind of sealed in unit) with a back boiler . This necessitated a (very drafty) vent in the outside wall, I'm guessing to prevent any chance of roomful of oxygen being burnt and not replenished. The back boiler was removed before we purchased it and replaced with an open flame gas fire (which we rarely use as room has radiators) which exits through the same chimney flue as the back boiler would have done. Question : Can I seal over the wall vent permanently or would it still be needed when such a fire is being used? I'm thinking as it's an open gas fire then oxygen can still enter room via the flue but could be a drastic mistake if I'm wrong.

    Utilities

3 bed semi but just the 2 of us now (most of the time). Gas/Electric £116 per month which, looking at bills, is currently in credit by enough to cover the winter bills without increasing it. Changed to water meter - no choice but was going to ask for one anyway - in early summer. Yet to receive a metered bill, currently paying £55 a month, the above comments give me hope that it should come down substantially. One. thing annoys me, we have a combi boiler which reputedly saves on the gas compared to our old one. But running a bowl for washing up means wasting a whole bowlful of now metered cold water before the hot reaches the tap. Pretty sure kitchen is at the end of the circuit from the boiler, I guess the cost of changing the routing would far outweigh any savings on water costs?
  17. Great idea. Or maybe combine the two. A wage cap whilst playing but contracts allowed to include sums over and above that only payable once retired from playing. That would sort out those that are really playing for the love of the game whilst still rewarding them financially later in life.
  18. Not just the McCanns. Other members of the "Tapas" group were equally guilty of leaving their kids home alone as it were. The fact Maddy went missing/died and theirs didn't doesn't lessen that offence. If they'd held and charged them all I'd hazard a guess at least one would have cracked and spilled the proverbial beans.
  19. Well I know if it had been my daughter I'd have been out there searching as soon as I realised she was missing, not stayed in the apartment for hours whilst others searched.

  21. There's some amusement being had on twitter with the #RedknappClaims hashtag.
  22. I'd go for the England win. They may well need God's assistance. Saints are quite capable of winning at Old Trafford without it. Sent from my GT-I8190N using Tapatalk 2

A friend of a friend decided he would play badminton the same evening. One energetic smash shot later he was on his way to A&E to have it re stitched. Had it myself about 12 years ago. Got a rather embarrassing story about it but oh dear only 3 posts a day Sent from my GT-I8190N using Tapatalk 2
  24. Exactly. Just to emphasise the point, 2 "Evening withs......." coming up at Totton, one with MLT one with David Armstrong (the latter, IMO, a far better all round player). So should the club be sending a representative to these? As I said earlier, where do you draw the line?
  25. ^^^This Plus whilst I appreciate in some people's eyes - not mine - he was our best ever player, the club has to make a decision to support all such events or none. As above, next could be a tribute to Benali or Lawrie, what about David Speedie or Souness. All servants of the club to one degree or another. Where does the line get drawn?
