  1. Great idea. Or maybe combine the two. A wage cap whilst playing but contracts allowed to include sums over and above that only payable once retired from playing. That would sort out those that are really playing for the love of the game whilst still rewarding them financially later in life.
  2. Not just the McCanns. Other members of the "Tapas" group were equally guilty of leaving their kids home alone as it were. The fact Maddy went missing/died and theirs didn't doesn't lessen that offence. If they'd held and charged them all I'd hazard a guess at least one would have cracked and spilled the proverbial beans.
  3. Well I know if it had been my daughter I'd have been out there searching as soon as I realised she was missing, not stayed in the apartment for hours whilst others searched.

  5. There's some amusement being had on twitter with the #RedknappClaims hashtag.
  6. I'd go for the England win. They may well need God's assistance. Saints are quite capable of winning at Old Trafford without it. Sent from my GT-I8190N using Tapatalk 2

    Vasectomy

A friend of a friend decided he would play badminton the same evening. One energetic smash shot later he was on his way to A&E to have it re stitched. Had it myself about 12 years ago. Got a rather embarrassing story about it but oh dear only 3 posts a day Sent from my GT-I8190N using Tapatalk 2
  8. Exactly. Just to emphasise the point, 2 "Evening withs......." coming up at Totton, one with MLT one with David Armstrong (the latter, IMO, a far better all round player). So should the club be sending a representative to these? As I said earlier, where do you draw the line?
  9. ^^^This Plus whilst I appreciate in some people's eyes - not mine - he was our best ever player, the club has to make a decision to support all such events or none. As above, next could be a tribute to Benali or Lawrie, what about David Speedie or Souness. All servants of the club to one degree or another. Where does the line get drawn?
  10. Not on the pitch obviously but off it. Could collusion like this between fans and club improve the atmosphere at SMS? http://fsf.org.uk/blog/view/boro-let-fans-enjoy-the-match-their-way

Now when it comes to complying with trades descriptions etc there isn't. To run out of something on offer is annoying but understandable. To take a customers money and palm them off with something they haven't ordered with no explanation is very poor customer service at best, a breach of the sale of goods act at worst. Having said that why any one would pay the sort of money charged for the quality of food on offer is beyond me.
  12. This. Plus it gives you another 30,000 potential audience.
  13. Sounds like the emotion of the occasion has got to you. I'd recommend a short stiff drink to make you feel better Sent from my GT-I8190N using Tapatalk 2
  14. Much as I'd like to agree with you that's an urban myth. Everyone my age and older remember's that being reported in the Echo, but there is no mention of it anywhere official. A member of the original working party for the bridge (now retired and certainly not one to stick up for the council of either party) told me personally that it was never even a consideration.
  15. If the aim was to help Woolston it would never have been built in the first place - it was a much busier place in the days of the Floating Bridge before the "bypass bridge" was built.
  16. My favourite - nothing special except for how steep it is. Feels like 45degrees but probably much less in reality. You just have to put you foot down and go, absolutely no idea what's coming the other way (a coach when I done it once!!!) until you crest it as you're staring straight into the blue sky. Northern end of La Manga strip in Spain.
  17. Vasili Arkhipov done a pretty good job as well. Is it only a matter of time until someone makes the wrong choice? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vasili_Arkhipov
  18. If the evidence is really that overwhelming shouldn't the third instalment be the one with the highest priority?
  19. You're confusing your margins with your mark-ups Mr Grant. Taking VAT into account the shirt would cost approx £17.40 - still relatively high considering the huge volumes they'd be buying in .... or maybe not then
  20. You type too quick for me
  21. Note to self: Don't try and join in a debate on 3 posts a day. Not sure what category you file me in. I do believe research into climate change should continue for the sake of accurate predictions. But I do not believe it is something we can possibly control so to tell industries that they can or can't do certain things or must pay extra because of it is, in my view, wrong to the point of deceitfulness. I appreciate that you have read up far more on the subject than I have, but I have seen nothing yet that will convince me any recent change in our climate is man made. It has heated up before, it has cooled down before and will do so again, all on it's own without our help. So why should, for example gas, oil, aviation industries be made to foot the bill? Are peat burners or logging companies contributing? Or the beef/dairy industry? Why am I forced to buy crap light bulbs that harm my eyes? As I say I do believe we need accurate predictions. If - big IF - it can be proved sea levels are rising then defences need to be built, and future homes need to be built on higher ground. If temperatures are rising/falling we may need to rethink locations of crop plantings, make buildings warmer or cooler etc. If the Earth is to become unlovable then look into moving to a new planet and starting again. But to think we can control it is, in my view, ******** (I think that's the correct non-scientific expression) and to be honest makes us guilty of thinking we are far more influential in the ways of mother nature / the vast solar system / universe / whatever than we really are.
  22. IMO the two bold phrases are why some find it funny. What is the point of taking a precautionary approach for something we can not control. ? Plan ahead by all means - i.e flood defences if it's proved sea level will rise being one example - but restrictions on industry/taxes/levies etc (which I assume is what you are referring to as you relate it to GDP) are pointless as a defence against something we can not control and nothing more than disguised taxation
  23. For countries like us with strong leagues I'd agree. But try telling that to Tahiti.
  24. This. Very much this. You probably didn't intend posting it twice but it was worthy of a second read. . Particularly remember the Ipswich game you mention - from under the West Stand, tunnel corner - thought my heart was going to burst out of my chest with the sheer nervous excitement of it all. And that just a bog standard league game. Can't imagine ever getting that feeling back nowadays.
  25. Exactly what killed the atmosphere at grounds. You can still meet your 10 - 15 mates for a pint before the game, even learn a new song, but once you reach the stadium you all go your separate ways and sit in 1s and 2s in various parts of the ground. A couple of blocks of unallocated seating are desperately needed to bring back the atmosphere to even a fraction of what it was in the 7os/80s. And in answer to OP, the eighties.
