Perfect explanation from Rut above. It comes down to common sense really. Assume all the towns are priced individually at 5/1. Would you really expect to still get 5/1 on Durham once it is known that it is snowing in Newcastle? I doubt you'd even expect 1/10. That's why those sort of bets can't be included in accumulators, the result of one happening has a direct bearing on the result of (and subsequently odds offered) of another event happening.

Great decision . Saved Mrs Wurzel a reluctant drive over there today Just got 2 for Block 2 so looks like it's open

Go on strike for what? As PB said in his next sentence he works for a company only just making a profit. To those that can see the bigger picture keeping their job is more important than a pay rise. He may not have been happy about it but sometimes it's the lesser of two evils. Of course he could have gone on strike for more pay. He could have laid on the floor and screamed. He could have stamped his feet in a hissy fit ..... all the way to the dole queue whilst his employer reluctantly imposed an x% pay rise and laid off x% of the workers to keep their books balanced.
-
So my answer to them - and any other workers at any other organisation that think they not only have the right to a job, but a job where they are only willing to work on their terms - is if you don't like it hand in your resignations. You'll very quickly be replaced by a queue of people only too happy to have a job and the chance to work for a living.

Probably too late unless you're very close but Woolston one virtually giving away anything left in the shop. Just got 3 bottles Whyte & Mackay Specaial blended at £3.59 each !!!!!!!!!!

Ah the memories. Saints away to Man City 01/01/05. Nine of us staying in a Manchester hotel the night before managed to blag entry to a private New Years Eve party in the hotel. Requested Robbie Williams Come Undone on karaoke, all 9 of us took to the stage and performed Pompey Scum, word perfect. Polite requests to "stick to the words" from the dj and strange looks from a few hundred puzzled Mancunians turned into a standing ovation by the end

I've always thought the British people are better at standing up for others than they are standing up for themselves. Had the Germans invaded the mainland I don't think it would have long before the civilians shrugged their shoulders and got on with life with a grudging acceptance, much as they did on the Channel Islands. Dad's Army not withstanding of course

I feel quite insulted - nowhere near subtle enough to be me.

Said it loads of times and I'll say it again - if you want to get the whole ground joining in it has to be a SONG, not a chant. Spot the connection with the following (in no particular order) OWTSGMI (Spurs stylee) Delilah (Stoke) Blue Moon (Man City) I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles (West Ham) Goodnight Irene ( Brizzle Rovers) Blaydon Races (Toon Army) Pick any one from about 50 (ManUre Away) You'll Never Walk Alone (Liverpool / Celtic) too name just a few. The words don't matter they are all SUNG to established tunes AT THE CORRECT SPEED. It gives the whole ground chance to join in, it's not already over by the time the other end of the ground has worked out what it is. SONGS have long notes and harmonies that again create atmosphere - chants don't. When a SONG is SUNG properly at a ground it's easier to join in than it is to ignore it. The nearest SMS ever comes to the Whole ground singing is "It's All Southampton", because of the reasons above. More often than not the away fans also join in with it, obviously replacing the team name. So if you want atmosphere stop chanting, start singing , and shoot the guys in the back row that bang the boards

I was trying to be subtle, maybe I should just state the bleedin' obvious - because of the bit in bold !
-
Err, I really think it's best if you don't.

Did anyone EVER have a Bar 6 from anywhere other than the vending machine at the Swimming Baths. ?

LoL I remember you and your mate quite clearly then - you 2 my mate and me (I am the one cut in half far right on the photo) were possibly the only kids on the coach. I can still hear OWTSGMI being played on the banjos in my head to this day. I remember on the way home filling a sleeping drunk guy on the back seats pockets with chicken bones and ****ing ourselves as he was dropped off in Shirley and staggered across the road finding them in every pocket as he searched for his keys I must have got confused with the photos then - being next door to the Echo Office, they took photos of the Running Horse crowd for both the semi and the final. That explains why I couldn't find it when I went over Central Library and searched the Echo Archives for May 1st then :-? I best add an edit to the blog entry now LoL

You know when you've hit the bottom. It's when Mrs Pilchards screams "No, not there" ;-)
-
You mean this photo on HERE ?!?!? Thought that was before the final, I went to both with the RH so I could be wrong . Think the pub is long gone, it would have been where West Quay now is.
-
Mummy and Daddy's book-shop comes in useful at last then. ;-)

I was once told that this was one of many government issue prefabricated pubs quickly erected on bomb sites during or after the war to help keep up moral. No idea if it's true.

Why do the words Nineteen Canteen spring to mind?

Chavs? That was me and Mrs Wurzel as you well know. (Didn't do me any good though she still had the bad back). Seeing as the club is into making all these changes at the moment please can they sort an under-18s only section ( somewhere the other side of the railway would be good). I now know why songs from the Northam are 2 octaves higher than the old Itchen corner used to be .

Saints-v-Liverpool 1984, ESPN Classic 9.50pm tonight
Wurzel replied to Jesus Reigned's topic in The Saints
Me too. Not only that I missed it at the game as well. First time I'd ever gone for a **** during the match, took another 24 years before I'd do it again (by which time I just knew there was nothing to miss). -
Live in play is the section that you can bet on matches in play Live Streaming is the live video action that they show. They don't have rights to show English games here so if you have a UK IP you won't see it
-
Not a scam but you won't see it if you're in the UK.
-
I can not believe how the total attitude of the club has changed in such a short time since the takeover. Everything that was wiped away over the last 10 years or so restored in 4 short minutes. Amazing and emotional (btw was the music on the the original or dubbed on by the you-tuber?)
-
I believe that they got there but I also reckon that a lot of the photos and/or recordings were faked back ups just in case things didn't turn out as planned. Reference to the above, the dual light source makes sense but look at the horizons, behind the astronaut and in the reflection. Makes the moon look about a mile across at best.

Great choice - we are definitely starting to feel like a Football Club again I Only have one concern - just texting the news to Mrs W and his surname comes up as "raped" in my predictive text ?!?
