Weirdly I feel far more confident about the Playoffs this season than I did two years ago. We can win at Wembley - and should win tbh. We are the form team by a mile If we don’t go up we’re definitely at risk of losing some key players. Says a lot about the quality of parts of the team we have this season compared to a couple of years ago.

Just back from the game. So proud of our players, of Tonda and also our brilliant fans. We’ll be back at the end of May for another great day out! Difficult to single someone out from what was a brilliant performance by our team but if I had to make a choice I thought Jander was utterly outstanding today.

Casper Jander should get far more credit than he often does. Overall his performances this season have been outstanding. Against Derby he and Downes were superb. I can only see us hanging on to him next season if we go up - and even then he’s going to attract a lot of interest from elsewhere.

Two Wembley trips this year will surely be enough. One FA Cup Semi Final and then the Playoff Final. A third will be awesome - but will put massive pressure on crucial fixtures.

100% agree with that. Bizarre booking for very little. Far worse tackles left unpunished. Not a great ref.

Pretty much every game for the remainder of the season is massive at this stage. This is a must win game - but it will be tricky given that this is the first home game for West Brom after a change of manager.

I think we are approaching the point of critically underwhelmed

Like all clubs Saints have some average players amongst the squad but what makes the difference in our performances is how the club now seems to have a unique ability to totally ruin (or alternatively sell!) the very good players that we have. Changing managers every 5 minutes also does nothing to get the best out of players or to provide any cohesion within the team. Who’d want to come to Saints in the current environment to “improve” their career?

70% possession. Most of that in backwards and sideways passes. Can’t help but think that every time Stevens appears we end up going full Russball. He’s definitely not the only problem but on current evidence the Championship is the right place for Saints. Assuming we don’t eventually get sufficiently shite to end up in League 1 Christmas ruined again by Saints. Dark Days.

He’s either a genius with scary eyes who will inspire the players to soar into the top six en route to the promised land of the Premier League or another SR catastrophe. Can’t see it being in between.

Really not sure what to think about this appointment. On the one hand you can’t argue that the team are playing vastly better football under Eckert but he’s not the experienced Championship campaigner many were calling for. This is either going to be an inspired appointment or a crash and burn disaster. It won’t be anything in between. On balance I think it’s the former. We’ll know by Christmas what way it’s going.
