  1. Did that in the Alps a few years ago except it was heavy snow in pool heated to 28c.
  2. Ive got one. In the Old Testament Moses commanded that his army should commit genocide against the Midianites except for the virgin girls who they should take as sex slaves. Sounds a bit like IS to me https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midian_war
  3. Thats the real story. An unelected advisor is now effectively dictating who can be a minister.
  4. You and Wes deserve special distinction for seeing only what you want to see. Slavery was common throughout antiquity in many societies including Europe and is referenced in the Bible many times. How the **** you manage to determine references in the Quran are somehow evidence of Islamic brutality is bizarre.
  5. Boston is a bit closer than NYC though tbf. Fog is caused by cold air on warm ground isnt it?
  6. It is a cultural dimension more than religious one. Its tied to the views of poorly educated people from predominantly rural Pakistan - that women who go out unaccompanied, wear revealing clothes and drink are 'easy virtue' and so fair game.
  7. Three consecutive quarters of contraction in manufacturing. Brexit is really motoring
  8. Do you have any evidence at all that rape is more prevalent amongst Pakistani men? There was a particular issue with grooming and rape gangs which is obviously highly newsworthy. That is absolutely no indication that Pakistani men rape more.

Depends whether they try and recoup the capital cost of building it. The interest alone will be c£2bn pa. Incidentally I had to go to Edinburgh recently. The cheapest train from London, booked in advance was £126. Cheapest flight £48.

Seems an odd design too. Why not an + shape rather than Y. Put it all the way up to Glasgow with hi speed links crossways between Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool and Edinburgh- Glasgow.
  11. I got back from New York in 5 hours 15 mins about 15 years ago. It was so exceptional then that when i told people about it no-one believed me.
  12. They knew you'd struggle with 'anthropogenic'
  13. You think climate change doesn't affect weather patterns?
  14. Proves my point. It was the Old Testament which says that about them in order to justify the genocide. But then the Bible is the good book whereas the Quran is just filth.
  15. That is a misunderstanding. The divisions in Islam largely stem from whether or not adherents accept later additions to the word of Mohammed. Essentially those who believe everything written after Mohammed is crap don't consider Jews and Christians to be unbelievers.
  16. "Much to my surprise, the Islamic scriptures in the Quran were actually far less bloody and less violent than those in the Bible," Jenkins says. Jenkins is a professor at Penn State University and author of two books dealing with the issue: the recently published Jesus Wars, and Dark Passages , which has not been published but is already drawing controversy. Violence in the Quran, he and others say, is largely a defense against attack. "By the standards of the time, which is the 7th century A.D., the laws of war that are laid down by the Quran are actually reasonably humane," he says. "Then we turn to the Bible, and we actually find something that is for many people a real surprise. There is a specific kind of warfare laid down in the Bible which we can only call genocide." It is called herem, and it means total annihilation. Consider the Book of 1 Samuel, when God instructs King Saul to attack the Amalekites: "And utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them," God says through the prophet Samuel. "But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey." https://www.scpr.org/news/2010/03/18/13145/is-the-bible-more-violent-than-the-quran/
  17. Its theocracy which stinks. But life in Iran is infinitely preferable to life in North Korea which practices a different form of autocracy.
  18. Exactly. Islam is no different to any of Abrahamic religions. The vast majority of Christians, Jews and Muslims follow an updated version that fits modern life. Only Islam suffers from state sponsored attempts to drag the world back to 2,000 years ago.
  19. Do you know his medical history? 1,462 people aged between 15 and 64 died in the UK from flu in 2017/18. How come that isnt a screaming headline every day? https://gulfnews.com/world/asia/coronavirus-deaths-age-preexisting-conditions-and-fever-symptoms---what--we-know-about-the-fatalities-1.1580817835672
  20. Its been said many many times before on this site. It should have sunk in by now but some posters dont want to hear because it interferes with their hate. The perverted version of Islam is primarily propagated by Saudi Arabia, our ally. They pollute the minds of kids in poor countries who cannot afford to go to school so their only option is Saudi funded Madrassas. By and large if you want to deal with Islamic terrorism deal with the primary pusher. But the west dont want to. Blaming a religion because our allies peddle a corruption of it is beyond pathetic.
  21. Exactly this. The culture and education level are far more important in determining mindset and tolerance. My girlfriend is third generation UK born Pakistani Christian. Her view of the world is the same as any liberal but what she tells me about Pakistani born grandmothers attitude would curl your teeth. Same for my work colleague who has an Iraqi Christian born mother.
  22. Agree. There is a real danger that all HS2 will do is extend the London commuter belt up to Birmingham and beyond. No other major European country is skewed towards one city and neglects the rest. Better links between Northern cities could create a hub to rival London.
