I have doubts about Shaw. He's an incredible talent for his age, but I wonder whether he will continue to develop to the stratospheric level Man U expect (gauging by the fee). If you compare him with someone like Bale or even Lallana, Shaw is better at the same age, but thats in part because he already has the strength and physical development that many players don't develop until early 20s. He's also a bit thick. Most of the great players are bright, sharp enough to continue to develop through their career, understanding the finer nuances of the game. Im not sure Shaw has that. He is freakishly good for a 18 year old but I wonder whether he will just be a good top half club PL professional by 25.

That would deal with the issue of ruffled feathers, but not the fact he will double his wages by still going to Liverpool.

Think he said earlier that he was told by a source that would know that a striker and lb deal had been done but wouldn't tell Mouldy the names.

Koeman's first Southampton press conference 11/7/14

The printed media questions and answers came after the broadcast media. There is a chance he was more candid with the cameras turned off. -
I reckon Lovren will stay. Cant see him giving up the chance to see Pelle naked

That's what I don't get. I 'll always remember MLT saying when asked why he didn't move for more money "Ive got a 4 bed detached house, a nice car and if I retire at 30 I'll never have to work again" - and that was on a fraction of what players get now. Some people are too dumb to realise that once you've got a certain level of wealth everything additional becomes meaningless - certainly less valuable than the respect of your friends, family and neighbours.

We were set up last season to play to his strengths. I cant see Liverpool doing that - he will have to fit into them and last a whole game. Im not sure he'll be able to do it.

How come Koeman has now got 894,000 followers on twitter when he only had 100,000 at Feyenoord? Seems odd - Saints aren't a better supported club. -
Wrong thread Bearsy. Should be in smartphone upgrade

Thats Lovren out then as the project he was sold has significantly changed.

My current girlfriend is always my favourite one.

Ooh. That means RK is at Feyenoord, or an old picture?

Do they actually have a manager / coach now Hunter is 'Technical Director'?

Five years ago I never dreamed posters would muse that key defenders of World Cup semi finalists who conceded 3 goals in 6 matches might not be good enough for us. Actually I didn't imagine it five minutes ago either.

There WAS a lot of disgruntlement amongst some, but that settled down. The appointment of Koeman and the signing of Tadic has brought back a lot of faith that we will have a decent side, even if Morgan and Lovren do go.

Martijn Krabbendam @ Mkrabby · 29m # # Feyenoord and Southampton have agreement on Pellè eight million, but still bickering over some details. Nevertheless: deal in the making. different story in the Star http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/388306/Ronald-Koeman-ends-Pelle-chase-turns-to-Connor-Wickham-as-Southampton-refuse-to-overpay

Things could be worse - your memories of 2007-2009

Gobern and McGoldrick looked good! Ive got zero memory of Pierce from Reading on loan. -
He could shine in the Lallana role in a five man midfield. Him, Tadic, Wanyama, Morgan plus one of Davis or Reed would be fantastic.
-
They told him "We've got a 50% chance of Championship football next season" and then he signed. Easy mistake.
-
Surely he looks complete a slimeball on the outside but inside he's innocent? Unless you know something about Florence which isnt public.
-
Its unthinkable (even for Cortese) that he would sign a player without positive support from Pochettino who used to manage him.
