  1. Yeah but that was to found Apple or Google - not do a broadcast media degree at Bournemouth
  2. Five or six thugs surrounded one guy to give him a kicking. One pulled out a knife, stabbed him twice and killed him. Fibres and blood just prove the two accused were likely there, not that they killed him, or even knew that one of the five had a knife and was going to use it. Beyond all reasonable doubt the two on trial are scumbags but proving they killed Lawrence is whole different matter. I find it really disconcerting that one of them has already been tried and found not guilty of the crime, but has not only been brought to trial again for the same offence but also been banged up since last September despite the risk of flight being minimal. Sometimes you just have to accept that you dont have enough evidence to convict, because the alternatives to that acceptance are worse.
  3. Most of my best trips have involved spending time in places I'd never heard of before I got there.
  4. I read it as though maybe his dad advised him to go to Brighton but Jack chose Saints and he was grudgingly acknowledging its worked out "at the moment".
  5. Theres also some cringe making posts from Saints fans. One starts '"we've a billionaire owner".... Erm he's dead and even if he wasnt he would be unlikely to splash cash around uncessarily.
  6. Stick where you are. Honestly starting an Anthropology degree, dropping out after two years, restarting and emerging at 23 with a degree in radio from Bournemouth just calls out dreamer / waster. It wont do you any favours in the employment market.
  7. Especially not Rhett Butler
  8. Cortese organises them, presumably as a way to take the pulse of fans, if he didnt get what he wants from them he would stop. Not everything needs to broadcast live verbatim.
  9. Not petty or pointless! Idea of Mackail-Smith offer of £600k on credit over three years made me smile
  10. Fair enough. Personally I think he should do both. A few dinners each year and one big Saints fans social each year including Q&A with chairman and manager.
  11. If that you mean that people are more likely to ask civil questions when they are being hosted at a dinner by a man sat 6 feet away, listen to the answers and ask follow ups than posturing at public meetings -then you are probably right. Interested in how Cortese only gets hand picked bum kissers long - some kind of survey when you buy a ticket? professional headhunters for bum kissing Saints fans maybe?
  12. Lolz at the people reading about Saints Foundation trip on the web, but not saying so.
  13. Thats the approach I took. Thats the problem though - its supposed to be an abstract question about morality, and instead everyone is thinking about whether that right wing historian holocaust denier was right or wrong, which skews the results.
  14. I'm 'disgusted of Hassocks' apparently which surprised me as I tend to think of myself as fairly laissez faire. Interesting quiz, did similar stuff as part of my psychology degree years ago. Think a lot of it is based on Kohlberg's theory of moral development. Some poorly drafted and ambiguous questions though eg 'A prominent academic publishes a book that argues a genocidal event in the country's past never took place'. You dont know from that whether it really took place and he is deliberately lying about it (scumbag), or he is genuinely arguing that some event in the past was a myth (hero swimming against public opinion).
  15. Great post. Totally agree. Get your degree, any degree - it shows you are able to learn and can stick at something - which is all most employers are looking for for a first job. Ideally get a 2:1 or better but if you cant be arsed and arent stupid you'll get a 2:2 which you can describe as 2nd class honours on your CV. Although Anthropology isnt 'relevant' it is interesting. Make a virtue of that at interviews. Dont waste your time with journalism or broadcast courses - a massive supply of courses, minimal number of companies looking for the graduates. .
  16. Exactly that. I actually had a CRT HD tv (they did make them for a while) and it was superb. The 'high end' Sony I have now isnt a patch on it.

    Sam Vokes

Couldn't we just have him on the board instead?
  18. Not really. Well done on sucking up that marketing though. Even now very good CRT's like B&O or Loewe have much better colour rendition and lack of motion blurring and sound than the very best lcds.
  19. The RBL have an image problem in that many people think it is primarily about the past - tired bars and memorial services - when in fact its very much about providing practical help now. HFH has a catchier name, the kind of thing the media like to hang on to. Whether it will still be around in 90 years is open to question.
  20. You still get better picture quality from a half decent old tube set than an expensive brand new lcd. Sound is usually better too (and this is coming from someone who spent a lot on a new lcd tv).
  21. tbf their dire situation and infrastructure meant they wouldn't have been able to attract one of many 'once okay but now lost interest and looking for a last payday' managers around. Thats a lucky break for them imo. The guy has a good reputation as a coach and looks scary enough to get a form of respect as manager. Its definitely as risk but who knows, if he has nous as well he could be a very good appointment - certainly better than a Burley or Adams.
  22. Drop Turkish a pm. He'll give you a well thought out recommendation.
  23. By that reasoning friendly games against Werder Bremen would attract the same support as Eastleigh and all friendly games would get the same attendance as a league game. As it happens when I go to a match alone or with mates I dont think that much about the opposition. If I take my kids I give it a lot of thought - want an almost full stadium, very likely to win, ideally lots of goals - but not too full on charged like a Pompey or Millwall game. I dont know why its so hard to understand that factors like that play a role when you arent just planning for yourself.
  24. Much as I dislike the EDL, arresting people before they have committed any crime makes me distinctly uneasy.
  25. Amazing. Spitfire crashed in a bog in Ireland during WW2 and has just been dug up. The Irish Army used the best bits from the six guns and without any major work, it fires. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-15652440
