  3. No I don't agree that its wrong. Its the right thing to do for a whole raft of reasons. Anyway its only a loan, not a gift.

  5. Yeah but..... The Guardian is well known as the place to look for non corporate jobs - 30 or 40 pages sometimes. It also has a weekly creative and media section. Neither the Times or Telegraph have that kind of coverage. The only times I have bought the Guardian regulalrly was when I was looking for a job.
  6. Having a dump on a train doesnt count.
  7. Its the battery. They only last about 100 charges. Just buy a new battery off ebay (make sure its a good make, ideally the same as the orginal)
  8. That explains the general election result....

  14. I think he might well perform at Millwall, at least for a while. My sense is that he isnt much of a natural team player - maybe his social skills arent great. 7 clubs by the age of 24 tells us something.
  15. NA clearly said words to the effect the Puncheon hasnt scored the goals he might have, and that he only wants players at Saints who want to be here. Puncheon decided to join Millwall on loan when they enquired. Add in the tension with Crosby and that all says to me NA isnt happy with Puncheons performance and Puncheon isnt happy to be advised on improving his game / criticised. Pucheon thinks he can do better elsewhere and NA thinks Saints can do better elsewhere. Maybe both are right.
  16. Its trying to do too much - 12 tv and radio stations and a big website -and the quality has suffered. To be worth its licence the BBC has to differentiate itself from commercial channels, not compete with them. It needs to go back to a smaller output of higher quality programmes which commercial stations wont make. It also shouldnt be paying presenters massive wages - a cap of around £300,000pa would make sense. It also has an important role in promoting Britain overseas - not through worthy and dull overt cultural programming - but by being the best of its kind. Ive lost count of the number of Americans and Scandinavians Ive met who think Britain is better than sliced bread, just because they grew up on BBC natural history, drama and comedy programmes. Id axe Radio 1, 3 and 6, BBC 3 and 4 and the 24 hour news channel. Expand the website to allow overseas visitors access to all content and focus the world service on underdeveloped nations.
  17. Garuda were banned from flying into the EU for a long time because their safety standards were so poor.
  18. But that right there is the problem with the electorate. Young was right. He spoke the truth and got slaughtered for it. His 'mistake' was to not dodge the question, avoid the subject and talk about something else instead. Then people complain about where all the honest and direct politicians have gone. Too many people cant accept honesty anymore, they need it wrapped up in a sympathy blanket.
  19. I havent been on Second Life for ages. Good to know its still going.
  20. He's right and shouldnt resign. The only problem with what he said is that its politically naive to point out that some peoples lives have been improved by the recession because the press will always make out that by implication he doesnt care about those adversley impacted. My mortgage is currently a ridiculous 1.49% - so Im £500pm better off in this recession than during the peak of the economic 'boom'.
  21. Ok thanks. Clear now
  22. The PL knew there was a problem with PFC but bottled taking action - a bit like Gordon Brown knew he should have reined in spending but tried to delay in the hope something would turn up. At best, imo, they probably thought some mysterious middle eastern gentleman they know nothing about was preferable to the son of a gun runner who was almost certainly laundering money through PFC, facing criminal charges and possibly bankruptcy. It wasnt in their interests to investigate Mirage too closely - instead just rubber stamp 'his' ownership and bat the problem into the long grass for a bit longer. So yes the PL failed PFC, and in allowing the charade to continue, failed the other clubs as well.
  23. Thats the trouble with real life - even the best simulations can't mimic it. We did have a sugar daddy but getting promoted turned out to be too much of a challenge and not easy at all
