  1. Palios: "You were criticised when you changed the manager without having someone lined up and also criticised when you had a successor" Cortese: "I know, you can't win (or words to that effect). We had planned the exact day Nigel would be replaced and that's what we did - stuck to the plan, even though he had a run of good results up to that day"
  2. Cortese: "You don't just change a manager for the sake of it. You do it because you have facts within the club that influence your decision. For us it was coming through different leagues and you need someone who fulfills a role at each level. The worst thing for any company is to have a standstill. You have to take a decision even if it is unpopular"
  3. Question now about the managerial changes at Southampton
  4. Cortese: "We are planning on growing our commercial income by 70 - 100% over the next 3 years" He says we need to close the commercial gap between us and Man Utd, Chelsea, etc....he doesn't see it as "unfair" that they have a commercial advantage though, he sees it as a challenge that he relishes which is one of t,he reasons why he voted against "financial fair play" or "unfair financial regulation" as he put it. He was effectively saying that those who can't come up with ways of matching the Man Utds of this world shouldn't be propped up by a financial "fair play" system.
  5. Cortese going over the history of the takeover and saying he found a club with no ambition.
  6. The feed is pretty much unwatchable at the moment....keeps freezing
  7. Just a thought, what's the difference between a "chairman" and an "executive chairman" (in the football world)?

  9. That's probably a question for a certain local investigative journalist. I'm sure he's been keeping a beady eye on things and is crafting a 78 paragraph one page story as we speak...
  10. Cheers CS. Maybe they should employ the services of Mr Hall to speed things up...?
  11. You need sad people in the world like me to make everyone else look and feel better about themselves. It's what the good Lord put me on the planet for and its a sacrifice I'm prepared to make for ultimate sanctuary in the bosom of mother Mary in heaven above.
  12. So that people ask me why I do it on football forums. Don't tell the missus though. She thinks I do it because I like her.
  13. Cheers CS. Seems to be taking them a long time. Can't think why... Surely it'll become public at some stage as the DTI will have to take public domain action if (when) Baker Tilly unearth malpractices, won't they? And will the FA/Premier League/Football League want to apply retrospective sanctions? (like they did for Luton) Any indication from your source(s) as to when Baker Tilly are aiming to conclude their forensics? Cheers
  14. Cheers - yep, breaking it down into chunks knocks of a few quid. Will cost us £43 to get into London and then another c.£12 for tube fare there and back. So, that's only £17 shy of £160. So I'm still looking at c.£250 (even if I go for the Sainsburys flowers...)
  15. It's either that or fending off demands for more copulation than an unfit 45 year old bloke can muster
  16. They are on TheTrainLine.com.... what website you looking at? (that's for 2 tickets btw) When was the last time you bought flowers? 1978?
  17. Train tickets = £160 Travelodge = £44 Match Tickets = £20 Eating/drinking out = c.£50 Flowers for wife = £40 Total = £314
  18. Jack Wilshere ‏@JackWilshere To be clear, never said 'born in England' - I said English people should play for England.
  19. Baker Tilly wasn't it? I wonder why they never got around to reporting the outcome...
