  1. Can someone quickly help me out here.....I'm continuing the debate with my work colleagues re: administration differences between Southampton and Portsmouth. They are asking when Saints paid up their CVA but I'm struggling to convince them that Saints never had a CVA (that's right, isn't it?) and therefore it's a moot point. I know he club istelf never went into administration but was there ever a SLH CVA? If not, why not? Cheers!
  2. David Brown @DavidhBrown#Redknapp: "(The Monaco bank account) was so secret that all the boys at Portsmouth knew about it." #Redknapp said while signing bank document he was concentrating on marking David Beckham, who went on to score a hattrick.
  3. Name a PM that has ever been "high on content" at PMQs? Isn't that part of the job description?
  4. http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/60034/notices/1513444 CSI creditors meeting taking place as we speak. I wonder how it's going?
  5. http://www.newstatesman.com/uk-politics/2012/02/labour-social-government-party Time to rethink, not reassure David Miliband Published 02 February 2012] The big state is a political dead end for Labour. The public won't vote for the belief that government is the cure for all ills.
  6. Come on, be fair...at least he/she has been more articulate on here than they were on one of Ipswich's messageboards last week: http://www.ipswich.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=270476
  7. David Brown @DavidhBrown #Redknapp says "coincidence" he opened Monaco bank account 4 days after confronting #Mandaric over Crouch bonus #Redknapp advised to alter code word for his UK accounts aftr telling court yesterday it was his mother's maiden name
  8. James Pearce @Pearcesport Redknapp on Monaco account name : "Rosie was my dog. I loved Rosie to bits." Prosecution: "I'm sure you did" Redknapp says account was named Rosie47 as bank already had account called Rosie. Redknapp said other Rosie might have been someone's wife Redknapp said the other Rosie "might have been someone's wife. If she was as nice as Rosie (dog) then they had a good wife"
  9. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10280~32459,00.html "Former Celtic central defender Jos Hooiveld joined Saints initially on loan until January 2012" Yes, I know "it doesn't matter" but, had we not taken up the option to make the move permanent he would have been here until January 2012 regardless, ergo whatever happened between September 2011 and December 2011 (contract negotiation wise) only changed things from January 2012 onwards.
  10. James Pearce @Pearcesport Redknapp listens as tape played to Court of his recorded conversation with News of the World reporter Rob Beasley On tape - Redknapp "It was bonus". Beasley: Mandaric says investment". R "Investment? If that's what said he's wrong but what's difference?" So, 'Arry, if there's "no difference" what's the point in not telling the truth to the NotW?

  12. David Brown @DavidhBrown #Redknapp: "Do you think two people who committed a crime could not get same story? Do you think we are stupid?"
  13. James Pearce @Pearcesport Prosecution begin by asking Redknapp if "your evidence yesterday was utterly misleading?" Redknapp: "Absolutely not" Pros ask Redknapp if money wasn't a bonus then why did he tell News of World "That money was a bonus paid to me for selling a player" Redknapp says not important if he tells truth to News of World, only needs to tell truth to police Redknapp tells jury that what he said to News of World was "all a story" and "I wanted to get him off the phone" Prosecution: News of World reporter "caught you out Mr Redknapp. You decided to speak to him and let the cat out of the bag" Redknapp shows frustration with prosecution: "Do you think that me + Mr Mandaric are going to have 2 different stories? Are we that stupid?"
  14. When would he have left Saints if we hadn't permanently signed him? (said a spokesman for Saintsweb's Matthew Le God)
  15. An alternative way to settle this "debate" to to flip the question around: "If we hadn't turned Hooiveld's loan into a permanent signing, when would he have left Saints?" If the answer is "midnight on 31st December 2011" then the it can construed that he officially became a permanent Saints player at 00:01 on 1st January 2012, regardless of when the paperwork was dealt with.
  16. I was talking about the continent, not the country.....sigh.... (yes, I know, it's "North America" not "America"....)
  17. I see what you did there....
  18. Ah, yes....I can see it as a typo now! I believe we can file that one under "Freudian Slips"
  19. Yep. I was making a tenuous link to something else...
  20. A reminder of her original reply on the matter: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?14620-Pompey-Takeover-Saga&p=1252544#post1252544 Any idea what she meant by that bit in bold about "staff forging their salaries"?
  21. ^ That's the most startling observation in all this IMO. Also, in her original reply to the poster who rasied it with her last week, she mentioned something about "employees making up salaries" (or words to that effect?). I keep meaning to go back over that one as I wasn't sure what she meant when I first read it and it seems like a strange thing to come up with on reflection.
  22. To be fair, Corp Ho does make a valid point about us being too focused on PFC's tax swerves. There are indeed many other examples of companies avoiding tax that we should also be focuising on. Here's one random example that I found on the interweb: http://host.madison.com/business/biz_beat/biz-beat-i-pay-more-federal-income-tax-than-mattel/article_82eae55e-0fca-11e1-8af8-001cc4c002e0.html In this excellent new study, the non-partisan Citizens for Tax Justice found that many of the largest corporations paid no federal income tax from 2008 to 2010. It's not just the well-publicized case of GE Dozens of leading companies have managed to avoid paying income taxes despite booking hefty profits. The list includes two state-based electric utilities -- Wisconsin Electric of Milwaukee and Integrys Energy, formerly Wisconsin Public Service, of Green Bay. It also includes Mattel, parent company of Middleton-based American Girl, which counted over $1 billion in profits from 2008-2010 and still somehow managed to grab a $9 million refund from the IRS.
  23. And I wonder what made the club so attractive to the subsequent dodgy owners in the first place. Nothing to do with how the club had been run beforehand of course....
