But....in years to come, the "have we signed Owen yet?" posts will almost be as humourous as the Skacel ones :-) -
Another Insight into NC's decision making?
trousers replied to Secret Site Agent's topic in The Saints
It took a while but I've worked it out. Anyone remember the film 'Brewster's Millions'? The one where the wealthy owner of a company gives Richard Prior's character x million dollars which he must spend every cent of in a fixed time to get his reward? Well, Leibherr has set a similar challenge to Cortese, albeit in reverse. He sat Cortese down on day one and said, "Nicola. If you can save me a million pounds in operating costs by this time next year you can have £10m for transfers next August. The one catch is that you're not allowed to tell ANYONE why you are making these cuts and savings for a whole year. You will inevitably find yourself annoying many fans, and local newspapers, as they won't have a clue what you are doing as only you will know the pot of gold at the end of your challenge. Good luck Nicola, good luck." © script copyright Trousers 2010 -
4th? Hey, what's a place in the rich list between friends? :-)
-
*cough* Swiss Billionairre *cough* 5th richest owner in English Football *cough* ;-)

Good luck with the response. At least it'll keep the thread going for another 4 pages ;-)

Playing for Sheffield Wednesday or after they sign for us...?
-
Hmmm....our first ever game was 26th November and Ted Bates passed away on 28th November. If I was Cortese I'd be looking at arranging something 'special' that week..... edit: scrap that.....21st Nov....not 26th Nov.....

Isn't it Social Services and other parents that should be keeping their nose out of other people's business and not just the newspapers that report it?
-
Yes, that's how I see it too. It's a rise in price. No disputing that IMO. I think the difference is that I would prefer to see the overall 'risen' price broken up into its constituent parts. I'd have been of the same opinion if the overall price had stayed the same or fallen.

Ah. Arse. Bang goes another theory...... Unless, of course, we inadvertantly go out in Round One.....
-
FFS. Stop bickering and answer my question about the 27th/28th November FFS. FFS

You've been paying a 'surcharge' for the last 50+ years. It's simply been absorbed into the price of the ticket. All they are doing now is making it clear what portion of the ticket is a surcharge. Probably.

Hmmm, no internationals on that weekend it would appear (FIFA website). Anyone know why there are no games on weekend of 27th/28th November?

He was weighing up an offer from Preston a month or so ago.... http://www.tribalfootball.com/ex-newcastle-veteran-butt-weighing-preston-offer-869401? -
Perhaps they're thinking of holding the Ted Bates Trophy game on the same weekend as the anniversary of his death? (28th November). There are no league games that weekend (Internationals being played, I assume). Just a thought. (Although, that said, all the major Euro teams won't be available due to their players being away with their international teams so not one of my best out loud thoughts I grant you.)

Another candidate for our "massive" new signing.....? http://www.hullcityafc.net/page/NewsDetail/0,,10338~2084506,00.html -
Pedantry alert.....I believe they are the 'take a ticket and pay as you leave' variety which gives them more scope for a free period of parking (e.g. for Megastore Visitors)
-
Where did you see that? Zeag appear to just do card parking according to their website: http://www.zeag.ch/

Of course, the irony is that the very people making a fuss about this have now revelaed to the world at large what route these children take, so they've actually made it less safe for them to carry on doing it. Sigh.
-
I believe he was seen playing a few frames with Michael Owen at the weekend
-
I agree with Boris Johnson: We've had 13 years of the nanny state. It's now time to allow intelligent parents to decide what is right for their children rather than the State looking at everything with a 'lowest common denominator' attitude.

The easiest way to work it out is to watch Sky Sports News on Saturday 7th August. All the goalscorers for other teams will be ex-Saints players.
